Here Today... Gone To Hell!

Let's say you could only keep three members of Guns N' Roses (current members only) to form the Guns N' Roses trio.? Who would you pick and why?

I've got two bands in mind...

Axl - Vocals
Fortus - Guitar
Pitman - Synths, sound effects, drum machine, bass, maracas, backing vocals

Since it's GNR, I kinda feel like Axl HAS to be in the band.? That leaves two spots.? You GOTTA have a guitar player in the band.? So that leaves one final position... You'd really get the most bang for your buck by picking Pitman since he can play every instrument in the band, sing, and produce the albums.?

If the trio wasn't going to be called Guns N' Roses, then you wouldn't have to pick Axl necessarily.? In that case, I'd probably pick...

Pitman - Vocals, synths, sound effects, bass, maracas (yes, he can do it all!)

As much as I like the drum machine sound, I think the band should have a live drummer.? I like the sound of it.? And why did I choose BBF over Fortus?? Well, cuz Fortus is a better "GnR" guitar player.? But this little trio would be super funky and progressive, and less tethered to conventions of riff rock and epic ballads.? I think BBF could run with that a little more than Fortus could.?

Pitman and BBF could swap of lead vocals on songs if they wanted to.? Kinda like Rick Danko and Levon Helm in the Band.

Axl would have to be one of the three (vocals, keyboard, whistle, and a small amount of average guitar work)
Lead guitarists are important, so Robin would have to stay.
A rock band without a drummer wouldn't work, so Frank/Brain would have to stay too.

The other members wouln't get a look in on a Gn'R trio  :hihi:

Agreed, but I'd still like to see what brain and Frank on the drums with Dizzy playing tambourine could do.

I've been thinking this through and:

Finck - Guitar/Drums

If i position the drums in front of Finck, as he waves his feet around whilst he's playing guitar he'll kick the drums, hopefully to the right tune.

Ron - Guitar/Vocals

Tommy - Bass/Vocals

Interesting, but mostly wrong. 

Pitman would have to be chosen for the Trio.  I dare say he's more important than Axl.  Pitman just plays more instruments.  Simple as that.

And it don't hurt that he's the best looking!   :love:

since were limited to three, but I wouldn't mind throwing in dizzy there but a drummer is needed to so three is a tuff number to fill because if you pick axl your limited to two insturments, but the topic IS a dream band so in the dream axl could play any insturment like a sitar or glass harmonica, or just bass.

Well, I guess Axl doesn't have to be a part of the band.  I suppose they're all equal members. 

I'll bet a GNR Trio without Axl could get an album finished in a month.
