Get rid of most the appetite songs and play some fucking illusion songs is what i want, and of course, some new shit for sure.

I'm not a huge Coma fan, but it would be interesting to see what Bucket, Finck, and Fortus could do with that song. And get rid of Think About You.

I tried to think up a set list, but without hearing (brand) new songs, as i think the album will be out by then or soon after, it was too hard.  I have favorites that I know will probably never be played again (locomotive, perfect crime, double talkin jive etc) so I hope that they cut some AFD songs, the cover songs and even a hit or two (NR)  in favor of new songs and a few UYI tracks.    I want new songs!!!!!!!!!!  It would be great if they learned a crapload of  songs so they could change the set from show to show, like early in the Illusion's tour.  In an old interview Matt said he had to learn 30 songs for the first leg of the tour and they picked from those to play.

Now heres my deal with the new songs...

I simply dont see how he could play a significant amount of new songs without releasing the album beforehand for two main reasons...

1) It wouldnt be good for the crowd.  Yeah, the crowd will probably be into almost anything because they love the band so much and the energy thats there, but its just not a good idea to play 9 or 10 tracks that the crowd has no clue about.  These people love GNR because of the old songs, and it would be pretty unfair to make half the set an exhibition for unheard material.

2) More importantly, Axl understands the reality of bootlegging and that if he goes and plays 10 new songs up there, half of the album is out, whether he wants it to be or not.  

So if hes intending on debuting these new songs, he better do it by releasing the album soon.  The alternative being 1) We hear half the album through this performance or 2) He does the same set-list weve been hearing forever.

Lets hope he releases the album...

I haven't heard This I Love, but that song has been such a big rumour since Axl talked about it in an interview back in 1993. Something about it being the heaviest song he's ever written...

OR he releases the album before May, so by the time RIR comes, he can play new songs and people will recognise them and no risk of bootlegging before the album comes out.

Lets assume CD comes out before rio or very close to it, the band will probably play a setlist made up of mostly new songs.  But they are still going to play some of the older songs, maybe a few different each night.  On the last tour they usually played like 15 or 16 songs, not including guitar solo's and all the other stuff.  Lets say they play 10 new songs each set and 5 or 6 old songs. (Lets's hope they don't have a SET setlist every night, and they play more songs than that.)  Picking any songs from the old band, and it doesn't have to be one's they played on the 2002 tour, what list of 10 old songs should this band have to pick from each night???  Take into consideration which songs this band would sound good on.  Maybe songs that would showcase Axl's voice better than others??  And don't really think about "Oh, Axl wouldn't sing that song anymore."

I liked the beginin with Chinese Democracy! Even if WTTJ is the classic first song, the opening riff of CD would be kick ass, with a bunch of non-stop power rocks follow up!  :beer:

If you attended the last tour, there is no way you would leave Nighttrain off the list.  This band should perform that song every night because what Bucket and Finck did to the end of that song where they just jammed was brilliant and by far the best part of the setlist I saw.

The setlist will be the same as 2006 and you better not complain or you'll be banned. I hope that this year Chris gets a solo spot with Dizzy. It would be nice if they could jam on "No Quarter" by Led Zeppelin. I want to see them duel it out so we can find out who's the real lord of the keys in GnR. My bet is on Mr Pitman considering he was already a successful musician before he joined GnR, but you never know, Dizzy could surprise!!

i see what you mean by seeing song titles and thinking to yourself " hmm i wonder if that will suck? :-\" i've wondered that with thyme i think it might be a song of or about a garden some where or something i dont know i'm just guessing here and the same with "Cock-a-roach Soup", "Hearts Get Killed"( + or Hearts Always Get Killed), "Closing In On You", and "Strange Disease". Even though those are just rumored tracks that were once mentioned in an issue of Kerrang in '99 i think that some have great potensial but like you said some you don't know about or can't tell. But more than likely the titles i just mentioned are probably fake :(

Agree. People want to hear more new songs but also the hits and this happens not only with GNR but with most of the bands. I remember a few years back I went to a Man? concert and although it was great and people wanted more and more,we were all complaining because they hadn?t played some of their hits so, people started to shout the name of a very famous song and in the end they had to play it. So,GNR are no different than any other band.

i wish that gnr would just maybe consider being a bit more like ...... say pearl jam...... the set list doesnt have to be the same all of the time, sure they differ it a little, but i wouldnt miss mr brownstone because NOBODY can play that song like slash. anybody with any doubt needs to just go back and watch their old gnr bootlegs compared to new gnr bootlegs to VR bootlegs. Thats onesong that i think could be left out and replaced.

I don't think this thread was started as a complaint about the "sameness" of the setlist, which it has turned into.  And this subject has been beaten to death.

Just listened to the Talking Metal Live interview with Bumblefoot and they mentioned how Rose Tattoo, opener for the Australian shows I believe, were the originators of the song "Nice Boys".  I knew I had heard of the band somewhere.  Now this is just me speculating, Ron mentioned how he doesn't like how his words get twisted in these interviews by us fans.  So this is me speaking, not Ron.  Possible jam on "Nice Boys" for those shows.  Either Axl joining Rose Tattoo, or some members of Rose Tattoo joing GNR.  It's a thought.  That would give those of us clamoring for some changes something to chew on.

i haven't posted a dream setlist here, but as i read the title of the thread it doesn't say "your dream setlist for 10,000 people", it's only your personal setlist, and if i were to chose NR and patience would be history and I wouldn't care about the below-casual 20 year old female fans :hihi:
