Title: How ironic would a Apr 1st announcment be
Post by: chriskon72 on March 31, 2007, 03:03:49 PM
Just for some fun.

But how seriously fucked up would it be if we woke up to a letter from Axl tomorrow with the release date. The press would just go to town. This place would go insane of course...

You have to admit it would be fun

We love suffering - Don't we ?

It wouldn't be any different then if it happened on monday, or any other day. The fact that it's April fools makes no difference. Even if they do announce a release date they can easily say i was just an April fools joke.

Someone says this every year, and nothing ever happens.  Nothing will happen this year either.

Didn't Axl (or was it Merk) say that someone within the GN'R camp had a 'clever' idea concerning the album release, but that it would mean that they would have to delay the album until 2007 or something along those lines? Perhaps the April Fools idea was kicked around as the author of this thread suggests.

Or, maybe not.  8)

The clever idea was Merck's "13 Tuesdays" line, which he used to trick the public into thinking that the album was actually coming out in 2006, and into buying tickets for the US tour.

i agree, at this point and time every thing has to be professional. They wouldn't fuck with us like that after waiting 14 years ::)

And we all saw how Merk's "clever idea" played out.  It seems pretty clear at this point that the album will be released when it's recorded and mastered to the band's satisfaction rather than having a surprise marketing gimmick of some kind.  I really think that intentionally playing around with fans at this point - such as a "haha - APRIL FOOLS!" - would be ludicrous, and the no one in the band would want that to happen.
