Flew out Saturday night only to find Bumblefoots wife in the seat behind me. G&R was rehearing in LA for a Japanese tour and she was flying out to see him. We landed and Bumble was nice enough to offer a lift to my hotel. He said the record is close to coming out soon....

....Then Bumblefoot called from G&R rehearsal and invited me to come see the band rehearse. So Gilby drove me to the G&R rehersal studio where I met all the guys in the band and listened to them play their set. I have not really heard this lineup of the band and they did sound great. New drummer Frank kicks ass (and he lives in NJ) and all 3 guitarists played so well together. What really sounded great were the many new songs they played. It feels like this album may finally come out soon. All the guys were super cool and it was great to meet them and talk music. Thanks to Bumble for the invite and the ride back to my hotel after.

Tuesday night Gilby Clarke took me to the Lakers game in a way to small for me sports car! Never went to Staples before, what a nice building. Lakers lost a bad one to Memphis. Gilby has great seats and VIP parking by a valet, it was awesome. Jack was a few rows away! Thanks Gilby, Laker tix are not easy to get or cheap and I appreciate it. Gilby is doing some Canadian solo dates, check him out. Then Bumblefoot called from G&R rehearsal and invited me to come see the band rehearse. I know that Axl and Gilby are on friendly terms and whatnot, but I just find it a bit odd.

Maybe they just have the same name. Is it a regular name?

Very cool news, So what "new songs" were played? Hmmm Im guessing since Trunk have not seen these guys play then Better, IRS and etc would then be new to him. Also sounds like Frank will be heading overseas.

This is the kind of shit that needs put onto the official Guns page. Just give us a headline warming up for Japan and a photo would be all we would need.

Hearing stuff like this gets me a bit excited about GN'R again.

Scree what's your problem? Eddie has been nothing but cool to get Axl to talk. Bet you still complain when you don't hear Axl in the media at all. He could have easily taken advantage a lot more and has respected the band and their wishes.

Think he rehearsed a bit more before the NY and Europe dates. Remember the call to Trunk? I remember hearing something about him being in rehearsals on other occasions too. Saying that if Axl was there I think he would have said something about Axl sounding good or something.

You think what you will, but I know a whole lot more about him than you obviously do. I used to be a fan of his, till he did something that proved to me he was a hack.. so yeah.. I have a right to be pissed at that fucking asshole.

He rehearsed with the band in NYC last year so why not LA?

just speculation but axl really doesn't need to be there now.. he'd probably be in a few times the last week of rehersals IMHO

i hope you're right, but for some reason all indications point to brain being out of the band. i dont understand why the band cant give clarification of brain's status.................the reality is some of us know he has left, but the camp has just said nothing about it..

I can't see the necessity for the band/camp to give the same clarification again and again.

I e-mailed Eddie about what he heard at the rehersal and he was gracious enough to repsond saying it was an amazing experience and that the band sounds great.  Not surprisingly, he couldn't give away any details, as he is held in confidence.  I think we have great things in store.  The tour is only a few weeks away  :peace:

what excited me the most was trunk talking about them playing new songs. i can't wait till the world tour starts. i wonder how the set list will divided now, maybe a couple more new songs than usual, with them rotating them a bit every night? [mouth waters] lol.

I am actually surprized not many people see it that way.

I mean, Eddie basically ruined both of BBF's interviews. Eddie behaved as if he was the star and the center of attention and that the listeners were more interested in him and his bio than in BBF's.

Yeah, ok, the Axl appearance on his show was fun but that was because there were many other people in the studio and Eddie could not manipulate and lead the interview the way he would want. Plus, this was the first extensive Axl interview in 13 years and as such was guaranteed to be super interesting and fun. If Axl had chosen to do such an appearance in any other radio or tv show, it would have been just as fun.

I am not saying it would be a bad idea, but a future appearance of Guns on Eddie Trunk would help promote his show much more than it would help promote the album. Especially if it is on his sattelite radio show - those do not have as many listeners as some think (for reference, check what's happening to Howard Stern's career).

i have to agree entirely. he should remember that the show isnt for him, its for us. if its for him, he should just talk to himself a lot. then no one would interrupt.

When Eddie comments about how it was great to hear the many "new" songs, he could  be just talking about the "new" songs we've already heard.  It doesn't necessarily mean we're in store for a huge setlist change.

When he said the new songs sounded great, could that hypothetically mean old GNR songs that they haven't played yet? Perhaps Bad Obsession or Civil War?  Don't get me wrong I would love more CD songs but wouldn't mind hearing Bad Obsession or Civil War too.
