Title: The Monkees?
Post by: Dr. Blutarsky on March 29, 2007, 06:18:40 PM
Anyone a fan? I became a fan when MTV did a marathon of the TV show back in 1986. I was 13 at the time & dropped the GI Joes & Transformers and ready to get into music. ( Guns N Roses came along the next year)

The Monkees actually had some good songs back in the day. A lot better than the recent manufactured bands of the late 90's.

They were the group which led me to the Beatles and the other great music of the 60's.

I used to wear a green tuque when I was really young just like my favorite bandmember :D

....His name completely escapes me at the moment though because I haven't thought of the Monkees in years :hihi:

If not for Davey Jones........there would be no David Bowie!!!

Mr. Bowie's birthname was of course David Jones also.......so he changed it due to the fact that the other Davey was already famous with the Monkees.  Alas Bowie!

I always loved their music though..........Daydream Believer, Last Train To Clarksville, etc.

If you guys ever saw the newer Brady Bunch movie, David performs "Girl" with a metal band...it was actually pretty catchy.

I used to watch it back in the days when Nick at Nite actually aired good programs.

Oh, Davey took Marcia to a dance!  ;D

You must mean Mike Nesmith. He was my favorite also. Of all the 4, Mike along with Peter were more musicians than actors. But Mike had better songs than Peter.  He did a country rock sound within the Monkees which was pretty new at the time.

My all time favorite Monkees songs would have to be "I Wanna Be Free" "Mary, Mary" and "Daydream Believer."

There are countless others, but off the top of my head, those are three I absolutely love : ok:
