It's from the same people who were stating GN'R would play in Brazil (Porto Alegre) by April. I wouldn't hold my breath, it wouldn't be logical to have all those dates around the world in just one moth. Maybe in May, after the South-Africans shows...

well this is not really new, since globo already anounced a couple of weeks before that GnR will come to POA....wonder where they might play there? Open Air at the FIERGS area?...or an Open Air at the open air stage near the "Usina"..... The later would be so amazing...Porto Alegre has the most beautiful sunset and yet alone imagine GnR playing there, while the sun sets.....that would be one of the most beautiful locations!!!

Axl is my idol, GNR will always be my favourite band. I'm VERY PISSED right now about CD, but I'd go to their show if they really come.

Sorry, but that may have well been their WORST perfomance of all time. That was the first show I saw of GNR since 1993 with the old band. Me and other old school fans were VERY disappointed....there were a few highlights....but that's it. ?Anyone who knows OLD GNR will agree.....their 2006 shows were a BILLION times better then the debocle at RNR3 in 2001. Musically, that show sucked balls. I am sure you believe in what you say but that only tells me that you have either not seen a lot of shows or you are just not paying attention. ?

The performance wasn't technically as good as the 2006, for sure. But it had A LOT of awesome and touching moments... And that counts a lot!

It did have it's touching moments..but....the sound of the show for the most part was shitty. Some songs sounded ok, especially the beginning of Jungle, but it sounded weak and unorganized throughout most of the show....I was expecting a MUCH better MUSICAL performance compared to what I had become accustomed to in the past.....that's all. Axl used WAY too much production through his PA system that compressed a lot of the vocals. He blew his voice out during "OH MY GOD" which forced him to change the sound. He did mention this several years ago. (as far as changing the sound)

The performance was AMAZING,it was the first show of the ''nu GNR'' and the first AXL show in years.
You go to not to perform to perfom in front of a big crowd like was at the Rio show and all the new band stuff in AXL mind you can't imagine how dificult that must be for him at the time ...and the band played the music perfect the only mistake was on the you could be mine intro.


The Welcome to the Jungle intro scream was the most insane rock and roll moment that i saw on a rock festival.

KIKO, they did fuck up Patience outro and some minor things here and there. But I agree wit you, it rocked!

Most of those problems were due to RIR3 broadcast. Just listen to the Vegas gig, they sounded so much better there, clear and crispier.

That wasn't their 1st performance...Vegas was. Just look at some old GNR on YOUTUBE(especially any show from 1993) and compare it to RIR3......it's not even fucking close.....the 2006 shows are much better as well. It isn't even a matter of opinion as far as I am concerned......but if you prefere RIR3...God Bless You.

RIR 3 was the concert that made me a fan of GN'R. Now I listen to it and I'm sure that 2006 performances were by far better. But 2001 had that "thing"... 7 years away from the public and then he comes back playing to a public of almost 200.000 people. Sure, he did a show in las vegas but this one got broadcast live. I watched this in the television... and that was fucking cracy. I'll never forget that show. Axl's voice was really weak but the show was almost perfect imo. :P
Anyway, I'm gonna watch this one and this one will be even better.  :beer:

if this do come to be true, then is a hell of a good news!!! And they'll do more shows here for sure, and I put my money on, at least, one show in Rio de Janeiro. Guns N' Roses aren't like the Aerosmith guys who can't play two shows in a row, so they'll only play one city... fuckers... :rant:

Plus, Axl loves Rio de Janeiro, so I think that counts.

the rio broadcast definitely sucked. axl`s vocals weren?t at their best as well, but the show was great nonetheless.

listening to vegas probably gives a better perspective on the sound... and vegas is definitely one of the best gnr shows ever imo.

I'm from Floripa :), but my father lives in Caxias. So when I went to see the Strokes at the "pavilh?o" I stayed at my father's and just drove to Porto Alegre a few hours before the show. I was afraid to get lost, but I was glad the venue was right at the entrance of the city.

Anyway, I'll probably do the same this time (so I won't have to spend on hotel), I'll just need to ask directions :D

To go to the Gigantinho you only have to cross the whole city ;D I guess the easiest way is to drive the highway till the end (rodoviaria) and there go to the right on the outer circle (next to the lake passing the usina) to the internacional Stadium...the only trick is to get on the right lane in time:):)

Most likely there will be an after party in Club Opinao, great rock club!

Heavy Metal / Hard Rock is still so damn big in all of South America, so I think GnR touring there, especially in Brazil is gonna be a huge success! And since GnR is one of the view Hard Rock Bands left I am positive it will be great! But do the "mainstream" Brazilian GnR Fans know about the "new" GnR?

GnR at Copacabana, Rio would be great, like the RS or Madonna did....You think that they still would be big enough for that in Brazil?

Floripa can be a paradise if you like beaches and stuff, but when it comes to good rock concerts it's surely no "paradise city". Good and/or famous bands hardly ever play here

With the history GNR has in Rio de Janeiro, I find it almost impossible for them to come all the way to Brazil and not play Rio.

In the worst scenario, they could play in Rio in Copacabana beach for free, like Rolling Stones did. But I know this is not that good for the fans, because of the crowd, but still...

Well, even though I hate those free concerts at the copacabana beach, it would be good for me, so I could attend to more shows since there'll be more money left in my pocket!  ;D

Well.. I dunno about Globo. Axl doesn't like to show up in time and that could be really bad for the TV, because of their schedule. Unless it would be in a weekend, after 11pm.

If they start playing a Chinese Democracy tour without an album to support again, they're going to be a laughing stock. I hope it's out before this date.

They played in USA several times since 2001. UK had Leeds, Docklands and the 2006 shows.

I remember how "weird" it was being at the first ever GN'R show I saw and they played a lot of Use Your Illusion tracks.

It was before the Internet so even less people in the audience had heard the new tracks than today. I don't think too many of the people who attend the shows actually download bootlegs to get to know the new GN'R songs. So basically GN'R played about 3-5 new "unknown" songs at the shows in 2006.

My only concern is that many, many people (even non-GN'R fans) are aware of Chinese Democracy, and after their comeback last year making headlines in major publications like Rolling Stone, people may be skeptical of seeing another "Chinese Democracy Tour" with no album.

A couple months back I thought the album would be out in April, but I don't think that's going to happen now. Hopefully May or June.

Just to keep the flame burning, in Zero Hora, biggest newspaper here in Porto Alegre, here I live, Guns N' Roses made the cover today, with the "How is the Guns N' Roses concert going to be" and very positive reviews from US Tour 2006 and a interview with some fans that attended shows in last year's tour.

They, in fact, think it's really great that the band plays mainly established songs and a few unknown ones, from upcoming Chin Dem, stating that to the casual fans, it's a need to see, don't die without seeing it.

It basically fits perfectly with what Jarmo has said about it being mostly about the casual fans being really pleased with the setlist...

Just to let you all know, Guns is really getting a LOT of media down here...

The talk is that we'll get news in two weeks.

But BBF recently said in his board that we should believe ONLY if comes from the band. True, but I'm still hoping... :(

i can understand your excitement and that you're looking forward in enjoying a night out with new gnr. the point that i was trying to get across was that how come new gnr cancelled the shows in Cali to finish the album, and here we are with no finished album they go on tour again!

First, they played several shows in Cali, so it's not like they didn't come close to that place last year. Second, the time frame wouldn't be right - they couldn't have gigs in January because they needed the THAT time to finish the recordings. Different situations.

They wanted some time to finish the record. They could have played somewhere in february and march too, but didn't. Why do you think they planned those dates starting in April? Just because it's a random month?

Of course this world tour has a different meaning and they thought it would be more needed than the canceled shows. As much as a lot of people disagree with this, they want to show this new band to the world with those gigs before releasing the album.

If they will indeed start doing the tour on April 14th, I guess the mix stage would be finished by then, or very close to it. So, why not a single? As far as I know, the single could come out next week with no problem at all.

I don't know nothing, but I think they will release the single on tour and, in late June, when they will be back at US, they will release the album. Of course, if all goes well.

He said only about Porto Alegre one. But it is not "intelligent" to promote only one show (even 2) in a 20,000 arena with a ticket ~ US$ 20 (our "meia entrada"). It only generates as gross potential (the maximium revenue you can have) US$ 400,000, which I guess is less then they will expend in this as GNR crew must not be a small one (30+ ppl in the traveling party for outside-us shows. it's a long shot, it must be more than this as Axl is a really a big star almost everywhere.) so there is a lot of visa works to, air tickets to pay (int'l, nt'l), ground transportation, fees (which you know we have a lot here in Brz).
I guess it will be Sao Paulo, Rio, Porto Alegre and Manuas (as it is reported that Axl wants to play there though we dont have sources on that). Curitiba is not likely for  a band of the size of Guns n' Roses. I dont think they would drew enough to pay promoters costs there playing in Porto Alegre for 15,000+ ppl.

The Manaus newspaper talked about Bras?lia and Rio de Janeiro dates too.

But the ticket price doesn't look real to me, as the Aero + VR gig is R$160 on the floor. Better wait for the real announcement in a couple of weeks.. :)

I dont think Brasilia is true... too many shows for a country, you know what I mean? It's not commom for a band of the size of GnR to play, like, 5-6 shows only one country...

Unhappily, Japan and UK are bigger music markets talking globally than Brz. As you said, Brz is bigger in size but not in sells of CDs and may have or not the same quantity of fans of UK and Japan.
R$100 must be the face value of the ticket. It will be probably RS$ 50 for almost  everybody ("meia entrada").

The rumours says that in Porto Alegre tickets will cost R$ 100,00 (floor tickets - aprox. U$ 50,00) and R$ 250,00 (seats tickets - aprox U$ 125,00).

And in Porto Alegre the promotional "half-ticket" (for students) isn't as common as in Sao Paulo.

Seems like the dates will change because of the South America winter. The schedule is yet to be confirmed, but they are stating how it's gonna happen for sure.

With all the gossips around the Guns N' Roses tour in Brazil, Mondo Entretinemento, the promoters responsable for dealing to bring the band to the country, and Universal, record company with whom the artist has contract, states that the presentetion dates in Brazil are yet undefined.

At the moment, the managers are trying to conciliate the band's schedule with the places available where they will play in Brazil. It's already known, for example, that the tour will not happen in May 2007.

As soon as the negotiations are over, Mondo Entretenimento, by its press manager, will announce the dates, places and tickets prices of the tour".

Based on the latest news I hope the band is using their time after the Japan and South Africa shows to complete remaining mixing, mastering, album artwork and promotion before hitting the road again.  I don't want a full blown tour to delay completion of the album.  Hopefully we'll hear more soon.
