Here Today... Gone To Hell!

 Disc jockeys on WHEB 100.3, out of Portsmouth, NH, are reporting that 'Chinese Democracy' is set to be pressed later this month. I don't know where they got this information. I am guessing that pressing means the label is set to start manufacturing the CD's. They mention this after they play the demo version of "Better", which they are claiming is an official single. I'm glad they are playing the song, but this station also trashed the band, especially Axl, after the cancellation of the Portland, ME show on November 6.

Anyone else hearing that the CD is ready for pressing?

I highly doubt that a radio station in New Hampshire would break this news first..

You already said it all. They said the demo is the single. So, do you still believe them?

I dont honestly know why stations like this give these pieces of information. The only thing I can think that must have happened is they figured since VR mixed their album recently and they announced they were finished earlier this month (thus giving GNR until early April to have the same mixing time) and couple that with the fact that the band are going on tour at the end of April...equals the general assumption that the album must be handed to the record label in late April because if the recordings finished obviously the mixings not gonna take ages....and the band aint gonna have time to do anything in Africa, Asia and South America...so the album must be pressed later this month/early next month. Although, of course, the reality is this information is just an assumption

To me, this is something that simply doesn't need be discussed.  If the station claims the demo is the single, when we have official word that it is NOT the case, there can be little, if any, credibility to any information that would be presented about the album being manufactured.

Anything worth talking about will come directly from the band.  Until then, there's nothing to get worked up over.

They want to create buzz, this is clearly nonsense.

I'm not saying they're right, but what would they have to gain by making this up?

A lot of this adds to the bad rap GNR has because when this things don't pan out the listeners think it's GNR bullshitting again...fuck. ?By the way I also wish at this point that GNR would let them play the leak and focus on other things.

Considering they said that the Better they played is the official single, this information is false. It makes sense that it'll be pressed next month, but believe me, they don't have any insider information of that sort.

the record being pressed soon isn't far fetched at all if the mixing has been going on and is wrapping up.   but i don't believe this info to be accurate as we all know the truth about the better leak.

You found this on the mygnrforum by someone who has 2 posts.  I mean sure it could be true, but DJ's are just guessing whats going on, 98% of them have NO CLUE.

Do CD's get pressed in multiple cities? Perhaps there is a pressing factory in NH?

Did anyone else try calling the station or is everyone just talking about it?  I just saw this link and tried several times, but kept getting a busy signal.  I thought most people in the US have free logn distance by now...not sure what took so long for anyone to call.

How true. I remember listening to Talking Metal once and Mark was like "Now, I heard on the radio today that (random GNR rumor) was going to happen by (random made up date). I'm pretty excited about it, they named a message board as their source though, so you never know..."

I was like "Oh no! Now someone's gonna quote Talking Metal as the source and say it's valid!"

I doubt that some random radio station would have this info. Maybe they heard a rumour and they said it,it wouldn?t be the first time the media echo a rumour.

Radio stations are notorious for mis-information and not getting things straight. Unless someone in the band or Mike Piazza pays a visit with a CD, its probrably false.

It makes sense. Mixing should take 1-2weeks. I would assume they are done by now.

yea it makes sense.. and its reasonable to assume pressing may take place in the coming weeks... but how tiresome is it reading these unfounded media predictions....

Why doesn't somebody call the radio station and find out where they got their info. from? 

After I found out that my birthday falls on a Tuesday in June this year, I'm kinda hopin' for that date. Other then that I got nothin.

i don't know why is everybody speculating about "better" being the first single when all uf us haven't heard the whole album yet. i believe there'll be at least 7 or 8 songs we've never heard, and then there's studio versions of maddy, blues and chinese dem, that i'm pretty sure will blow everybody's mind.

A small update:

After playing "Better" shortly before noon today, the disc jockey, known as J.R., said he got information from one of the weekend jocks, known as Tommy Boy, that 'Chinese Democracy' is set to begin pressing on March 24th. According to J.R., Tommy Boy is the station's resident GN'R diehard and knows Dizzy Reed personally (Dizzy did appear at the station a couple of years ago to promote a Hookers N' Blow show in the area), and got the information on the pressing from Dizzy.

Well if it leaks around that time, that would be a good indication it is true.  Anyone know typically whether release dates are set before pressing? Or vice versa?

Well if they dont announce a date before pressing, id imagine copies would then have to be held somewhere 'til distribution, but im just thinkin aloud. my direct industry knowledge is nil.

Yeah, celebrity connection has its privileges.  This is a fun rumour, but now its taking me back to the "shipped under a different name", "I will walk naked down sunset strip if it doesn't come out on NOV 28th" rubbish we dealt with at the end of 06. 

Umm we're talking about them now, are we not? They say stuff like this and then people start talking about them and possibly create an interest in their station. There's a lot to gain with a story like this.
