Here Today... Gone To Hell!

Former GUNS N' ROSES and current VELVET REVOLVER guitarist Slash has confirmed rumors that he spent time in rehab prior to the recording sessions for VELVET REVOLVER's new CD, "Libertad". Slash made the admission during a three-minute video interview with Sweden's Aftonbladet/Klick!, which can be viewed at this location. Matthew Flamm of Crain's New York Business reported last month that Slash sold his autobiography to HarperCollins. The British born, California-raised axeman will work with writer Anthony Bozza, who helped M?TLEY CR?E drummer Tommy Lee pen his memoir, "Tommyland". The manuscript is due to be delivered in the fall.

A HarperCollins spokeswoman confirmed Slash's deal, according to Crain's New York Business.

Slash, born Saul Hudson, left GUNS N' ROSES in 1996 following a rift with frontman Axl Rose. He went on to form the band VELVET REVOLVER with fellow ex-GN'R members Duff McKagan (bass) and Matt Sorum (drums).

Also in the works is "W.A.R.: The Unauthorized Biography of W. Axl Rose", by British rock writer Mick Wall. The book is due out in Britain in the fall and is currently making the rounds of New York publishers.

"[GUNS N' ROSES] is a great story, and it's not finished yet,'' says Wall's U.S. agent, Barbara Zitwer, referring to the unfinished album, entitled "Chinese Democracy", that Rose has been working on for years.

Slash is not the first member of VELVET REVOLVER to land a publishing deal for his memoir. A year ago, it was announced that the group's lead singer, Scott Weiland (ex-STONE TEMPLE PILOTS) had inked a deal with Scribner to release his autobiography, which will include stories about his rise to rock stardom, his battles with drugs, and his life now that he's sober.

how do we know how long "not too long ago" was it could have been pre VR right before they started, that wasnt too long ago.

He always seems to have been a pretty heavy drinker, so maybe he's trying to change his habits now that's he's older...

Possibly. I don't remember a single rumour about Slash's rehab though. The only one I can call into my mind was 'Duff's on drugs again'.

Well who knows what Slash meant by "Not too long ago"? We didn't hear the first part of the conversation. It was probably due to excessive alcohol use (I hope) not heroine slamming. Whatever it is I hope for the sake of London, Cash, Perla, and VR that was his last rehab stint!

If it was before contraband he wouldnt have said "not to long ago" ::) some of you people are just soo much in denial.

Slash was in Rehab last year. thats why there was NO VR news for awhile. Slash has always been a heavy drinker

I loe what he writes for music buthe really is a screw up. Did anyone see that awful show on VH1 whee steven adler guest star. they were destroying hotel rooms and he judged it. This was one of the saddest things I had ever seen. his speech was like a boxer who had to many head injuries. he was shaking the whole time. it was sad.

that is slash in a few use if he is using heroin. I learned to play guitar because of him it would be a waste if he lost his life to that junk.

about this whole slash in rehab thing, I think people are reading way to much into this if you actually watch the video you see that they are not very serious.

I actually heard from someone I kind of know that Slash was still doing coke, during the VR days. IM not trying to be an insider.someone I know said he played with Slash backstage somewhere and Slash was doing coke the whole time. I dont know if that is true or not.

That's exactly what I thought, as well.....I don't think he was serious. 

My Brother got Married in July and the next day went to Jamaica on his honey moon. He called me up when they landed to tell me Slash was on the plane with them and was now waiting in line about 15 ft. away. He told me Slash seemed really pist off and kinda fucked up from that distance.

Again, I agree with Grouse.  They were talking about his fucking or not fucking groupies, rock star life, etc and he randomly said, "I was in rehab not long ago...."  If it were serious, I don't think he'd just interject it into the middle of a conversation.  This is being taken out of context.  And if he was, he was...so what?  It's not a totally bad thing, is it?

Brittany, Mel Gibson, Paris Hilton, Nicole Ritchie have all gone to rehab in the past few months.  Not a big deal.  Was Mel about to kill himself? 

Slash doing coke?  Not sure on that.  He once said he hated coke cause it made him to intense.. He like a mellow state better that heroin gives you and pot.  According to Slash.  I am sure the still smokes a lot of weed and still drinks plenty.  Said he didn't believe in formal rehab and knows when to stop, but can still be bad at times.  He said if it interfears with his playing, he backs off.  I am not worried.

have you seen WTTJ from i think chicago (92 maybe) or st. louis 91, he was so wasted :rofl:

Chicago 92 he was dead on at portions of that show.  I guess he was hit or miss at times. 

I think he meant in terms of recording and existing period.  A lot of players have off nights, but he had magic moments at every show. 

He always said that the down periods were hard  for him, so I would guess that the period  between the end of the last tour and the start of hard rehearsing  for the album/new tour is when he got in trouble.

Slash is Rock N' Roll and this proves it. It's dangerous/crazy and out of control like Rock N' Roll :peace:

I'm not sure why down time would be hard for him these days, he's got a wife and kids to keep him busy. Before all of that though I can see how down time could have gotten him in trouble.
