02/28/07 - BREAKING NEWS!? ?HOOKERS N BLOW SPLIT UP!? THE BAND WILL BE PLAYING THEIR FAREWELL PERFORMANCE MARCH 4TH AT THE CAT CLUB IN LOS ANGELES.? THE SHOW IS BILLED AS THE FAREWELL REUNION SHOW, SINCE THE BAND WILL RE-UNITE ON STAGE.? THE BAND IS CURRENTLY BOOKING APRIL SHOWS WITH RATT/LOVE-HATE SINGER JIZZY PEARL.

02/28/07 - HOOKERS N BLOW CANCEL SOUTH FLORIDA MARCH RUN.? UNFORTUNATELY, THE AGENCY BOOKING THE SHOWS FAILED TO DELIVER ANY REAL DATES EXCEPT FOR THE BENEFIT SHOW IN ORLANDO.? UNFORTUNATELY WE CAN'T DO ONE SHOW IN FLORIDA FOR FREE.? WE APOLOGIZE TO THE ORGANIZERS OF THE EVENT.

OK..so it's not a break up..and it's billed as a REUNION show.....it will however mark the last HNB show w/ DIZZY REED for some time.? ?The band does have some pending shows in late April w/ Ratt's JIZZY PEARL who filled in for Dizzy last year.? ?The "JIZZY" version of the band actually plays more "Appetite" GNR since Jizzy spent some time in an early incarnation of "ADLER's APPETITE".

Well it sounds like good news that Dizzy has something planned with GnR, atleast it sounds that way to me....


Lets hope GnR kick it into gear again this year....

exactly my thoughts. After march 5th Dizzy won't play w/ 'em, right? If yes, Hmm... why did he take a break in march and not in april, when GN'R tour starts? Maybe they're going to promote the album? Maybe they'll be playing new musics in the next tour, and they're going to learn how to play them live? We don't know, but this sounds damn good to me. We need to ask Dizzy why that happened... maybe some problems (I really don't think so) or maybe Dizzy will have a full year w/ Guns N' Roses. Like on bbf's site, there's something like "no bumblefoot shows on schedule. playing guitar in Guns N' Roses". If my thoughts are right, they'll be performing a lot this year.

Bummer.

Indeed - no offense to the guys from HNB, but Dizzy going back to GN'R in March can't be anything less than a good thing!  : ok:

Would make sense. Remember that post on here that said Bumblefoot had finished recording? How long ago was that because mixing could have started around then. That's gotta be a couple of weeks ago now. Maybe they managed to finish  the mixing already.

Hopefully. Its definitely possible. Especially if all that needed to be mixed were Bumble and Frank's parts. In all honesty, I think that the new "Better" leak was intentional, and that it was a way to hold radio stations over until they can service radio with an official mix.

To be honest,  HNB would mean nothing to me if Dizzy wasn't in it, and even with him in it, it means very little  :P

I'm guessing Dizzy got "the call" on his red phone.  You know, the one that direclty links to Axl's house.  He was told to clear his schedule in March.  They are going to be filming a video, maybe even two of them, photos needed for the album sleeve and rehearsals for April Tour. 

It has begun...

I taught Hookers and Blow WAS Dizzy Reed, at least thats the impression he gave on the radio interview recently....and Dizzy's interviewing skills, on another note, dont really impress me it has to be said

...it's sort of a joke...how can a band have a FAREWELL/REUNION show the same night?...They were sort of making a mockery of KISS...etc

Anyway...Chances are this might be the last show for some time w/ DIZZY REED, but the band, although anchored around DIZZY has become sort of a "Brand" name..and still gets offers w/ Different Line ups...

....The A Line up of course includes DIZZY REED and always will.

Ok...go back to speculating..

Personally, I'm hoping this means GN'R will be doing some warm-up gigs (hopefully in N.Y. again) in March before they go out on the road!

So how was the show? Anybody go?

I went.? It was a lot of fun.? They played Pretty Tied Up and Dust N' Bones, which was really cool to hear without all Use Your Illusion's lame production bullshit.? Those songs really rock.? It was cool to be reminded of that.

I bought Dizzy and the band a round of Jager.? Nobody else would.? Even when they threatened to quit playing.? He gave us a quick little interview for the Pitman site.? Same with Happenin' Harry, Dizzy's buddy/bandmate.? They had a lot of nice shit to say about Pitman.?

I spent all my cab money to buy them shots, so I had to walk home for several miles at 3am.? Luckily, I found a prostitute and we walked together.? She said she puts Jesus into everything she does, and that she's only ho'ing so she can help save her pimp's soul.? Then she plans to marry Jammie Foxx.

What kind of lame production shit? ::)

Those songs are awesome.  It's such a shame Axl stripped the "rock" out of them.  Oh well, he did what he felt he had to do.  For every person like me who's turned of by The Tao of Dolphin, I'm sure there's someone who likes it.  To each his own.

I think he STRIPPED the rock out of them though the editing and production.? That's my opinion.? I think a good rock record should be recorded quickly.? To me rock is about the feeling and emotion of the performance.? When a band records a song in thirty second pieces at different times, in different rooms, I think it tends to strip the energy and life out of a song.? Obviously, you disagree.? Go listen to UYI and be happy with the world.? Sorry, you're not going to change my mind.

Well according to your little paragraph right there, I'm wondering why you are here then. Chinese Democracy does not fit your standards. And who says they recorded them in 30 second pieces. GN'R always recorded with Duff, Izzy, Matt (or Steve) playing at the same time. Then Slash would do his parts and then Axl would do the vocals.

And I'm sure Axl was the only one involved in production and editing. ::)

Actually, Pitman has 1 T.

The live era booklet is sas "Chris Pittman" which is a typo.

Go check the Replicants or Free Mars album, he's credited with one T.

I do think the Chinese Democracy songs would sound better if Axl and the band got together for a few days and recorded them all live.  Sue me.  That's just how I feel about rock.

I want "Chi D." to be overproduced.

Although UYI II was ruined by overproduction, I think it'd be a crime NOT to overproduce a decade-in-the-making album.

They've got two synth players.  There's no reason they couldn't jam out Better live in a few takes.  They do it at the concerts.

Oh yea?  Do you know which three adjectives Dizzy Reed would use to describe Chris Pitman?  No... Didn't think so. 

And what about the question of Pitman's beats --  funky or super funky?  Aside from maybe Pitman himself, Dizzy Reed is probably the most qualified person on the planet to answer that question.

Also, they have an interesting collaborative musical relationship, and a deep friendship.  Dizzy had lots of really nice things to say about Pitman. 

Well personally, I dont think anyone cares about whether or not someone describes Pitman's beats as funky or super funky. I think that question is a little worn out, you know, ran it's course. Although finding out about their relationship would be cool, I was more refering to when the album is coming out, or whats gonna be on the album and stuff like that.
