I think if there is no new single before the tour resumes then the CD wont be out before at least another legnthy break in the touring schedule...probably resulting in an 08 release. I can believe I honestly thought this was coming out in spring of 1999. I used to be a wealth of knowledge in terms of GNR info for my friends, now noone believes a word I say, its just a joke now.

I honestly think the album will be released after this leg of the tour. So yes, a single would seem likely before they start the tour.

If they are mixing at this very moment, then I expect the single will be completed first so it can be released before the album.

let's hope this is the case, i mean it makes sense to me anyway!!!

yeah, i've pretty much stopped talking about GNR with my friends because they never believe that the album will be out.

im with ya...everyone I know gave up on this record back in 2000.....when i told them recording was finally finished last week...they just laughed.....

I would agree.......... but in order for this to happen they still need to shoot a video, imagine how long that will take if its taken ?almost 10 years to release a song.

I would like to think the wheels are already set in motion for the video. Live footage anyone  ;)

Well if in fact Better will be the first single, I don't see how it'll matter for any of us. Unless the song is completely re-written, I'll just keep holding my breath for the album.

Yah i dont see axl waiting 13 years to release a song and not haveing the video be something to remember. Something besides live footage...ie dead horse and live and let die (filler videos).

rumour has it, that better was sent to different directors. but i don't think we'll have a single before the tour. not gonna happen, i quess.

Tuesday March 6th...a digitial single will be released on itunes.

i'm hoping for a single before spring, a single now or within the next week or two would be amazing because when they played the leak on my station i listen to people were calling in left and right. I think that people will welcome the news Guns now since the leak so i hope that it will be a single soon or else people will forget about it again.

I would take an actual , official release date over a new single. These days, a new leak on the internet is pretty close to a single anyways. So, given the choice of a single and more mindfucking or a new leak or two and an actual date, I'm going with the latter.

I have no idea, I have no idea of how the music business works either but if as Del James told,the recording is done and they are mixing it right now, I?m pretty optimistic on a 2007 release. I don?t see this album coming in 2008 as some people say since the most important ( the recordings) part is finished. :yes:

People Quit F'ing Saying That.  It's stupid. Assuming the album will come out sometime in the future, every day you wake up is theoretically the closest you've ever been to the release of Chinese Democracy.

I'm with the original starter of this thread: If there's no single BEFORE this tour begins, I think we're looking at a long delay. So, that gives us until sometime in April, right. Cross your fingers.

a new single before the tour would be awesome.  here's hoping we are really getting close.  not to downplay the importance of the fanbase worldwide, but do you guys think they would take a break and come home to the states for the album release if it happens during the tour?  i wonder what "proper promotion" includes in the eyes of the band and the label.  i'd love to see huge ass billboards everywhere and shit.

possibly.  But its pretty obvious its not a final product judging by the way things are mixed.   If its done properly, would make a kickass single.

I don't agree, it had a 70% approval rate in Houston on "The Buzz". That's pretty good after all the hype and built-up resentment for Axl after cancelling on 02 and never releasing CD.

even though they have yet to play it locally here in chicago, I've shared it with several fans and "non" fans of gnr or rock and roll.... mostly the response is about the same.. (70%)     
it took me a couple of listens to enjoy it.. I think it will be just fine as a first single..

as far as the topic, yes.. we should have the single before the tour kicks off.. IMO, 3/6 it will some how be released... I will stick with that until 3/6 at 11:59pm if I have to!   :)

Yeah..I was talking to the PD of the rock station in the building here at work, and my friend (who loves GN'R) who DJ's on the station.

They played Better twice yesterday. The PD said that he thought it was mediocre, and my friend said that the listeners didn't like it at all.

Fucking idiots (the listeners) if you ask me!  ;D

i hope so, but i cant see it happening....if it does, i'll buy a round of drinks for all board members in nyc.....

WAAF in boston keeps playing it really frequently and is calling it the new single.

I feel pretty good about us having a single prior to the tour.

Iron Maiden put out at least two single, on cd, from their album released last fall...so, yes, they still sell them.  Though I'm sure that a radio/video single is probably more important than what they actually sell on cd.

At least where I live in Canada, if you wanted to find singles, you'd have to go to a pawn shop or used CD store :-\

Any of the HMVs or Sunrise Music stores Ive been in no longer sell singles in store.

I haven't bought one for probably ten years, either, but I just saw Iron Maiden - A Different World (off A Matter of Life and Death) at a Best Buy, two days ago.  I'm betting with itunes and all that stuff, they'll disappear relatively soon.

That could get kind of expensive, couldn't it?     :o

i think singles are big in europe. last single i bought was Sympathy for the Devil at a Sunrise Records back in 94 or whatever year it came out :-\ :hihi: who knew that would be the last GnR release for 13 years :'(

my post was kinda in addition to axlmainman's that you cant get cd singles in canada...unless they are used...or you buy them online. but stores don't really carry them.

i think they are popular in Europe though...am i right? or are cd singles pretty much non-existant everywhere these days :-\ didnt mean to sound ignorant :peace:

They're pretty non existant where I'm from, and my country follows the rest since we're so small. Usually a tiny section with cardboard singles from a few selected shit stars. I think you can get on the top 20 with only 300-400 copies sold.

anyway back on topic...these days i'm thinking a single may be released to radio stations only for air play...but i wouldnt expect it any longer than a week or 2 before the album comes out....just a guess on my part of course :peace:

I can't see the band releasing a single without having an official date for the album.
And the album will be released as shortly after a notification in regard to a new date as possible.

Never thought I'd say this, but I would have a hard time buying a ticket for the Garden again, without the new album out , or a setlist that consists mostly of new material.

Went in 02' , made it through the snowstorm to get there, and the show was unreal. Worth every minute.
Went to Hammerstein this year, and the show was incredible.
Went to Garden in November, and was really let down.  I'm not the richest guy in the world, but I try to go whenever possible to see the shows.
Dishing out more cashish to watch him play Appetite again may be a tough call -

I have to agree...I saw 2 Hammerstein shows and the Garden in Nov.   I can't see them again doing the same thing and I paid alot to get floor at the Garden too and that's just it, it's not that I don't really want to see them but money does get tight to see the same show over and over.  I just hope it's different this year.
