well.. we don't have a topic about this.

the new haloween movie, hmmm. rob zombie is okay, looks interesting.

i'm a huge fan of the first two. H20 was okay, Ressurection sucked, everything else i've only seen parts of and they werent good.

i'm hopeful. i've seen devils rejects and house of a thousand corpses and they were entertaining. nothing special, i hope rob zombie can pull this off.

almost forgot, its slated for an August 31st Release.

Im looking forward to this, I hope Rob can also pull it off. Halloween has been dying for some time and I hope Rob can put a new life to the films. Hell if this works out lets hope Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th and etc will follow. Anymore Horror movies have forgot about what scared people years ago. They go way to much into the special effects and the gore, instead of leaving us on our seats scared for the next move.

Yeah I'm looking forward to this myself, I'm a fan of H1,H2,H4, and H20(which would've been better off as the last one). Out of all these remakes today, this is one of the few that's necessary to make. Halloween:Resurrection sort of turned the franchise into a joke. I like how Rob Zombie is approaching this, he said he's going to reboot the franchise like they did with Batman Begins after Batman & Robin.

Can't wait for this.

After H: Resurrection, I figured that the franchise was dead. It was easily the worst and most desperate sequel of the bunch. Here's hoping that Zombie breathes some new life and gives it some new blood, because it needs it, badly.

I actually like most of the series - Even Halloween 3, which is so fantastically bizarre and out-of-left-field that it works.

couldnt agree more, H20 was a perfect ending. a tortured woman finally overcoming her fears. in my book, that ended the series. having it be that she really chopped the head off the wrong guy is fucking ridiclous.

To me,? Halloween, Halloween 2 and H20, are the definitive movies and a decent trilogy.

yeah i'm pretty excited for this. i think the main problem wiht horror films these days is lack of atmosphere/buildup. the original Halloween had perfect atmosphere with the music and buildup throughout the beginning. you actually feel for the characters etc.. people tend to forget that his movie had barely any gore and was still pretty fuckin scary.

Horrible idea.  I hated House of 1000 Corpses with a passion and didn't even bother with the Devil's Rejects.  Why don't they just leave these franchises alone?  Instead of suckling the cash teet of the cow, just let the series go on a high note.  Instead of making 1000 remakes or sequels, here's an interesting idea...put all that effort into creating something new!  God knows the horror genre as it's called these days fucking sucks.  There hasn't been a decent horror movie in years.  This whole Grudge, Ring, Saw, Final Destination shit is pathetic.

The Devil's Rejects was great.

I love HalloweeN, and I'll def check this out... I'm not a fan of House, but I loved Devils Rejects.. I don't expect Zombie to make this like those at all though... I saw Zombie last year open for godsmack, and he came out dressed as Michael Myers during a solo... Hilarious!!


H20 COULD have been good if it wasn't a clone of scream, and didn't disown 4-6 in the meantime... I know 5 and 6 weren't the greatest, but you cant act like they never happened... Plus why would I want to see a movie where 56 people survive, Michael gets his ass kicked all day, and trots around in 2 different masks...

Don't even get me started on H8... Michael backing down for Busta? ::)
A little piece of me died when I saw that... I vowed to never see a HalloweeN movie in theaters again... But now since its not following H8, and Zombie is involved, I can change that rule? : ok:

yeah i didnt like his masks in the recent movies, especially halloween resseruction. i love this new look too.

i heard doctor loomis will have a more important role, like more screen time, and i also heard this will be much more Michael Myers based, like not about the victimes, the movie will center more around myers. this is an interesting idea but i'm not sure how it will work out for the movie but its different and sounds cool.

there was talk of including michael myers in a movie where he fights jason or freddy or both, but i dont think that'll happen now. if it did i think michael myers would make jason and freddy his bitches.....LOL i loved michael the most out of those old slasher/killers.

I am definitely a halloween fanatic.? ?I am not thrilled about this new movie.? I understand what Zombie is doing he is making this Halloween his own and I get that but I just have trouble liking it.? ?I too think H20 would have been a good ending for Michael and then if someone else wanted to do another movie, make Laurie the killer now.? ?Problem is the Halloween franchise went into two directions the Jamie direction and then 6 going totally into a Thorn direction killing Jamie and then H20 went back in the original direction but totally excluded that Jamie even existed and Ressurection was a debacle.? ?I know that die hard Jamie fans are loving the fact she is cast and showing her boobs in this, only problem for me is I always see her as Jamie not Annie.? ?Anyhow, I haven't really liked what I have read about the script, if it's true, it's almost going too far with Michael.? Whoa isn't that the kid from Hanson?  He looks like a little whiney shitheaded kid.  Only thing scary about him would be finding out he belongs to you.  Malcolm McDowell should just show up as Alex and kick everyone's ass.  That's the only way I could find this film worthwhile.

The difference is Zombie is remaking Halloween. Halloween is an absolute classic. Batman '89, however, is debatable. And Batman Begins has almost nothing to do with Batman '89. It contradicts many things within Batman '89 because it literally is a re-boot and an entirely different franchise.

Although horror is now at an all time high again.   I'd have to say out of all the recent movies, I thought Saw 1 was really good, something new and definitely left ya on edge and unnerved.   I do get tired of all the remakes and now prequal/remakes and this year we are gonna get flooded with them remakes, The Thing, Friday the 13th [although I think that is on hold], Hellraiser [that hurts] etc.   I want to see something new but I guess it's hard to keep reinventing horror so they take ideas already in place, it'd be nice to see something fresh only flip side as you said alot of the new stuff sucks.  Hills Have Eyes, Silent Hill, etc...   I have to say I did like the first TCM remake, I thought that was really good, TCM The Beginning was okay but it wasn't great.    I really liked George Romero's Land of The Dead in 2005, I thought that was a great for a zombie movie and I am not one for zombie moves, course he is the granddaddy of them.   

I very much agree with you on Land of the Dead.  I thought it was an excellent chapter of the Dead series.  What really made me like the film so much was how they portrayed the zombies as becoming the good guys and the humans as the evil monsters. 

Yes and they then make the humans subject to the electric fences that they had to deal with..it was sweet justice, Big Daddy was the man :beer:...LOL.

Rob Zombie recently spoke to MTV.com about his upcoming highly anticipated remake of one of horror's most beloved slasher films, "Halloween".

"Michael Myers does not know how to drive in this movie," Zombie told MTV.com over the weekend. "[Myers in the station wagon] always bothered me. They would always play that off like someone must have given him lessons, but you know no one gave him lessons! He's in a maximum-security prison! So, no, he doesn't drive."

It's one of the sure-to-be-controversial revisions that Zombie is making to the classic John Carpenter flick. ok, what you just described made me piss myself with laughter. i HAVE to see that film for the comedy.

Alot of people have problems with the following things:

*SPOILERS*

1. Young Michael talks...

Personally I dont care.... He was a normal kid before he murdered his sister.. As long as its not corny, i'll be fine with it... But i dont like the actor they have for him...

2. Michael cant drive...

It was believable someone taught him to drive in the first one... So its totally believable no one taught him to drive while in the nut house... Thats the norm I'd say...

3. Laurie Strode is not in the movie till the last third...

Kinda bothered me for a second... But it gives a chance to tell a back story.. Some people are never happy... "Not enough Laurie Strode", But if she was in it the same way, people would complain its TO MUCH like the orginal....

4. No Halloween theme

Are you serious?!?!!? This has the potential to ruin the movie for me... No matter what they wont be able to come up with anything , to substitue....

5. From the beginning I didn't like Donald Plesance's charter being replicated.... They should have renamed Loomis, and made him less involved in this remake....

about the halloween theme, do u mean the music? i'm pretty sure i read somewhere that rob zombie confirmed that it will be basically be the same music from the orginal....maybe a slight varation. i wouldnt worry about that.

Totally Agreed.  I posted this over at our board and I can't believe it when I read it.  How can you not have this theme incorporated into this movie and I am also upset that throughout some of this article and vid, he ranks on the original, like saying how he isn't just having a stunt man in a mask.  Well that's great for him but John Carpentar wanted it that way [some people don't know that], he didn't want his myers to act he just wanted him to do.   I think there is nothing wrong with that and the "actors" did a good job in 1 and 2.    What's with the disrespect to the original movie

have no fear, they are using the original theme song after all, MTV screwed up. They stated that Rob Zombie said he was shelving the original theme song and going with a reworked one that was released some time ago. Turns out he's actually shelved THAT one and the new movie will rock the original theme from '78!!!!!

Thank God!!   How can you possibly have a Halloween film, any one of them without some sort of rendition of that theme.

Although I'm not a fan of his House Of 1000 Corpses I really dug The Devils Rejects, and liked what Zombie did with that movie. Hopfully he can do something good with this Halloween.

P.S. Grindhouse gets a big ol' 5 out of 5 in my books. As a fan and collector of "real" grindhouse and exploitation flicks, I was psyched but went in with a mind to expect things to be a little ... off. They weren't. Horror masterpiece. The only movie this year I'm looking forward to as much or more is Zombie's Halloween. The trailer's badass, too.

i was really impressed....it looks like it will have a real gritty and truely scary feel, something thats been missing from the Halloween movies since like the second one. (H20 was okay but it was missing something)

I always assumed I had started this thread, then it popped up again today and apparently I didn't. Go figure. Still, Halloween is my favorite horror movie, which is saying a lot (that's kinda my thing). I have a lot of respect for Zombie, especially after getting to talk to him about his filmmaking process and movies in general, apart from music. I'm looking forward to this like you wouldn't believe.

I know the difference between re-shooting a movie and doing pick-ups and additional shooting during editing. It's kind of what I do. Refer to Zombie's Halloween blog for his word on it.

based on the trailers, zombie's definitely got the feeling right for a halloween movie, i think this movie "looks" much scarier than halloween resseruction or H20.

I downloaded this off of torrent. (May 15th version) and i have to say the beginning sucks ass. The young Micheal Myers is a hyper ADD kid who talks way too much. Im about a half hour in.

The escape scene i have a hard time believing it makes theatres so it could be a much different film i am watching, but it does start to pick up after Micheal leaves the hospital.

Anytime a movie has reshoots u know it sucks.


This movie was ok but the Original Destroys it.

The kid scenes were nicely done in some ways but The movie was garbage once he became a grown up.

So in the escape scene...did the security guards bring in a teenage patient and start banging her in Micheals cell? (hey Michael...come get some PUSSY!!!) Then micheal gets pissed off at all the commotion and kills everyone. Thats what happened on the version i DL'd.

He also slits a nurses throat as a child while at the hospital which was laughably bad.

Let me start by saying I am a huge fan of the Halloween series and horror films in general and I really loved Rob's first 2 movies. Understandably I have been insanely excited about this movie for about a year. While it wasn't the worst thing I've ever seen, I have to say I really was incredibly disappointed. This film has absoltely nothing on either of the first 2 films. It probably ranks somewhere in the much lesser films like 4 or 5. There is nothing scary about it. It goes more for gore and violence than ever actually building any kind of suspense or actually fear. Rob made Michael Myers way to human. The first half of the film is devoted to him as a child and is kind of boring. Towards the end of the movie I honestly was kind of waiting for it to end. I always liked the mystique surrounding Michael, never hearing him speak and stuff like "Samhain" on the chalkboard in II lets you draw your own conclusions about what made him Michael Myers. I for one always enjoyed thinking of him as some sort of demon born onto earth instead of just thinking of him as a run o' the mill psycho, which is how he is made to be in this latest version. It's worth waiting for video.

Yeah I agree 100%, he did rush through Laurie. And is it just me or did he do a poor job in making her even somewhat likeable? She came off as really obnoxious to me.
