Title: 70 Concerts x 7500 = CD Gold
Post by: mpkline on February 14, 2007, 10:22:38 PM
If An Average show this past year had 7500 people at it, which means there are roughly 7500 potential buyers, times 70 concerts,  that would make 525,000 copies sold. Everyone wants it. Now granted many people went together like husband & wive, but just think about it. Even half that is 262,500 in the first week, which kicks the crap out of most releases lately. In time I bet it will easily go platnium, an even rarer feat in todays world.  This i know is including international concerts and billboard tracks America blah blah, i just think the album is gonna do pretty damn well, never mind when the casual fan starts to hear the new shit, and they then go buy it themselves.

people who went there went because they wanted to hear classics.

and the sales depend on how good the new songs are, and the marketing.

It's not gonna be THAT big. It's not gonna be "American Idiot" and make all you dreams come true- they aren't gonna win "Album Of The Year" at the Grammys- and it's not gonna change music.

But positive- it's going to sell well obviously- and it'll hopefully be good enough to please fans.
But I just hate to see expectations so high.

BTW
And I'm a fan- of GNR- not Green Day- but I can still admit that it won't be like that American Idiot- with 15 Million Copies Sold- and so many radio hits blah blah blah.

Didn't Motley Crue have a pretty successful tour not too long ago?  And did anyone buy their next album?

I agree with the part i quoted. the sucess beyond a million or so copies will depend on the big guns that we haven't heard yet. i see alot of die hard fans here who think the songs theyve heard are the shit and i don't necesarily agree. their oppinion is like if axl farted into a mic like terrance and phillip they would love it anyway. i haven't heard anything catchy yet except IRS which gets stuck in my head like mind control or something  :hihi:

but theres still much we haven't heard and there's no way axl would leak the big guns on purpose assuming he leaked the tracks on purpose. so just wait for the big guns to know if it''ll go from the guranteed one million to multi plat.

motley crue never put out an album after the tour...the record sales will be bigger than concert attendance.....look at it this way...90 dollars for a ticket...or 10 bucks for a cd.....i know like 20 people that didnt go to shows but are def buying the record when it comes out.....and thats just my loser friends....ill be alot of people will be like that

Where do you get American Idiot sold 15 million copies?  The same place you get Evanescence selling out stadiums???

how many people saw gnr in 91-93??
I believe about 7 million

and how many times did The spaghetti incident sell?
not 7 million, and not 3.5 million in the first week i believe

But i think CD will be a very good album and thus sell more : ok:

Never underestimate the power of hearing, "Here is the NEW Guns N Roses single" on your local rock station.  Couple that constant phrase with a song that is completely original and vastly superior to what is played in major radio rotations.  (Better)  Hardcore and eventually, casual listeners will buy the album.  The album will be a success, the question is to what magnitude.

After all these years, GNR still have a couple of rock virtues which are lost on most in today's industry; realism and danger.  These qualities will bring back many and bring many anew.

Google it. And Evanescene along with all mainstream acts that you steer clear of- sell ALL of their tickers.

It's true. Both Green Day/ Evanescene sell very, very well.

I also, am not much of a fan of either of these artists, but they can sell out a stadium.

Guns would still be doing the same thing if it weren't for the fact that they haven't released any new material since 1991. Not to mention the fact that the original members are all gone ( - Axl, of course). These are the only two reasons Guns aren't selling out the majority of there shows these days.? ? :-X

the sales for this thing will be mind-blowing no matter what.
the hype and the name alone will sell it like there's no tomorrow.

Uhhhhh not not really a lot of people went bc they wanted to hear new songs too buddy  And so far all the new songs fucking kick ass, there was more energy during IRS then there was durring ycbm or ise. Tons of people were singing the new tunes and had a blast when the new songs came on. Change it  bc peple didnt go jusrt to hear classics some did but not all and most wanted to hear new shit.

As of November 2006 American Idiot has sold nearly 6 million copies in the U.S. alone (including digital records) and trails Dookie by 5 million copies worldwide with American Idiot having sold 15 million copies and Dookie selling 20 million.

Sad.

Well say what you like, Green Day can meet a deadline, and American Idoit was stolen from thier studio and had to be re-recorded and they STILL met thier deadline. I respect them for that.
