Title: Did the clean tone voice suit some songs better?
Post by: CAFC Nick on February 10, 2007, 10:48:28 AM
I was just thinking about it, listening to Rock in Rio III...

Does the clean-tone voice suit some of the songs better?

I think it does...

I think Madagascar and The Blues are perfect example of where the clean-tone voice suits the song better. The older songs are more suited to his raspy voice but I think these two songs are definitely better with the clean-tone.

What do you think?

Yeah, I can see where some people are coming from when they say they like his voice on maddy and the blues in '01-02. His clean voice certainly suited those songs. I don't see why he couldn't put on the clean voice to sing it, but the clean voice may have been due to bad vocal habits.

I think both song sounds good now though and Axl still does an amazing job.

If I had never of heard it, I wouldn't have thought so, but kinda.

SHHHHH WE DON'T NEED HIM TO READ THIS AND RE-RECORD TO FURTHER PUSH BACK CD.

I think it did for a few of the songs like Madagascar and The Blues, but other than that I think it actually butchered some of the songs such as nighttrain.

So true. I think that song needs the raw power to the vocals.

Although, Axl's shout was more powerful in '02 on Madagascar than it is now IMO.

His 02 voice was pretty bad... I think mainly because he really didn't want to be singing at that point and he was just going through the motions... But the 01 voice was really fucking good.

Actually, there was a pretty signifigant difference between 01 and 02. 01 was still that clean tone but he actaully kept it cool, in '02 it was just all over the place, a big mess.
