Haha imagine the procedure for starting that mofo up...you'd have to have like 3 associates there to crank and grind it.  "Phinneaus, crank the electron modulator to 1.21 jigawats...Bartleby, phase the photon rotor-gurter and man the coal-powered cooling fan."  It'd be for fun times definitely......and after all this that piece of crap probably did nothing more than what a simple calculator does for us now.

wow.....how wrong were they!!!!!....typical know it all scientists!!!!!!! *tut tut*... :hihi:

you could flip it around, they achieved far more than their wildest dream, so that you could hop aboard the internet without having to steer that giant wheel.

Imagine someone saying, "All Aboard!  Next Port O' Call - HTGTH!  All GNR passenger fans must exit!"

Those old machines used valves and vacuum tubes, I guess the wheel was to control the pressure...not sure.

Hahaha, that's too funny.  I remember complaining when Dell dropped 5 boxes on my doorstep and I had to put this thing together.  Imagine how many boxes it would have taken to pack that thing up!

I wouldn't call it so much as fake........just pretty much a concept model of what they were trying to acheive technology wise in the near future.

No, it's fake. Check out snopes.com

The picture has something to do with submarine controls.....which explains the steering wheel.

Right enough, it does look as though someone just pasted a picture of an old-tyme TV on the wall.

You do realize that computers won't change, looks wise, from what we have now, right?

The US govt has completely finished "deconstructing" all the technology they garnered from the Roswell crash at Area 51, and have now completley sold all the tech to the existing front companies, so we shouldn't see any changes in computer technology over the next 10 years or so...

(note: I'm joking...)
