Title: Fight Or Flight?
Post by: sesor on January 29, 2007, 04:19:12 PM
Ok, in psychology we were discussing how the fight or flight response isn't needed in modern day life so we may end up losing it due to evolution. Would you prefer to have your fight or flight response or not?

Not having it benefits people in ways such as there would be less violence. Also it sets us further away from the savage behaviour and animal instincts, whatever... but having it means that we are stonger in situations of danger, but if we didnt have that sudden surge of adrenalin it would allow us to think much more clearly in such situations...

forgive me if this is stupid hahaha

I have my doubts that utopia will ever be reached. So the way that evolution works, I highly doubt we'll ever lose our basal instincts.

i dont believe our instincts of fight or flight will leave. it may mutate but as i dont believe in evolution i dont think it can evolve

How is it possible then that you believe it might "mutate", my uninformed friend?

Just so you know, genetic mutation is a core concept of evolutionary theory.
