Ah Shawn of the Dead - that ol'classic which starts as a comedy but then seems to think it could be a serious zombie flick and descends into people crying. Alot.

It doesnt seem to have been planned out in advance, as if they were making scenes up as they went along

And the whole film was just based on an episode of 'Spaced' - and the episode was vastly superior: playing resident evil 2 for so long you cant tell reality from the game - we've all been there!

oh wait, gone off topic - i'll be off to see this cos Mr Pegg is a genius (as shown by Spaced) - the blot on his career that is Shaun of the Dead doesnt change that...

and that classes as a blot on his career

I think not Shaun of the Dead is one of the funniest British Comedies for a long time

and?

Return of the King is apparently the 4th best film ever made according to the curious cross section of people who vote on that site :nervous:

You'll, at about this point, realise I was giving an opinion.

a) says alot about British comedy
b) so your opinion is more valid than mine eh?

Watch the episode of Spaced that 'inspired' Shaun of the Dead, so much better :)

i can't wait to see this, i love action movies so this should be a blast. its supposed to make fun of them so much.  i have to wait a little less than 3 weeks to see it though, since i'm in the middle of nowhere here so i won't see it until i come home from college.

I remember when this "spoof" zombie movie was coming out, Shaun of the Dead... I thought oh great another predictable crappy spoof movie... Then I saw it was a British comedy... So I figured what the hell, lets see how the Brits do spoofs... To my delight, I wouldn't have to... The only thing in common this movie had with any other zombie move was: the name, and "go for the head..."

I really thought the movie was down to earth.. Just regular people, finding out zombies were looking for them... I think its close to what would happen to everyday slackers with all around life problems.... It had its funny moments but never got ridiculous..

OK so after that little rant.. I cant wait to see Hot Fuzz!!

I've seen this already. It's excellent. It works the comedy/horror bit for the first two acts (with one of the best/funniest kills on film) and then goes into balls-out action mode for the final third. The commercials are a bit misleading though, in the two hour running time 90% of the action is in that last segment while the previous two acts are much more about the characters and the gags.

I liked "Shaun" a lot but Hot Fuzz is easily superior. Slicker, funnier, better.

"F'you wanna be a big cop in a small town, fuck off up the model village."

I finally watched it today also.  The last part of the movie is really good, takes it a while to go anywhere, but this is nowhere near Shaun or Spaced for that matter.  Thing about Shaun is, it's intended to be a take on all those various spoofs meanwhile holding it's own.  To this day it strikes me as a great picture, because it retains the chemistry from Spaced and has a truly natural feel that touches on all the different genres.  I believe they once branded it as a romantic horror action zombie film.

I did have to laugh at the constant Bad Boys II reference which was quite unexpected.  And Nick Frost is just so adorable.

I really wish i could understand what people liked about this film

I didnt find even a moment of it intresting - and their attempts to do ''action'' just had me rushing to my dvd collection to see how its done right.

Most boring film i have ever seen

You are just the type of person i hate watching films with, my friend is just like you, because he cant understand a film or does not like it, means the film is crap and that people who do like it are wrong for doing so, i have actually stopped watching films with him now he is just so annoying with it. Id love to know what films you do actually like as all i ever seem to read is you slating them sometimes before you have even seen them. Heres an idea try not to over analyze a film thats just meant to be a bit of fun, hey who knows maybe you will enjoy it. It must be somthing to do with you being a Liverpool fan.

I liked the Point Break references.
