Title: New site might be streaming unreleased GNR concerts from the 1980s Post by: DunkinDave on January 26, 2007, 04:10:10 AM http://concerts.wolfgangsvault.com/
This is a free site that is digitizing a large collection of concert recordings from over the years. After you register, you can listen to hundreds of streaming concerts ranging from Zeppelin to Clapton and back again. Although the concerts aren't officially released by the bands, the site is paying royalties for what they post. http://concerts.wolfgangsvault.com/Static.aspx?Type=About/aboutCV.htm Quote There's only one place you can hear Bill Graham introduce the Allman Brothers at the Fillmore East, Steve Miller ask for more PA volume at Winterland, or Robert Plant kill time with the Fillmore audience while Jimmy Page re-tunes in the background. It's the same place you can listen to the greatest live music of all time in full, uncut concert format. It's not Heaven, though it may feel like Heaven to rock music purists. It's the Concert Vault, the world's greatest collection of vintage concert recordings. Where does it come from? In 2003, Wolfgang's Vault acquired master recordings from the archives of Bill Graham Presents. These live concerts were recorded at legendary venues like the Fillmore East and Winterland between 1965 and the late 1980s In early 2006, we augmented the Graham archives by acquiring the archives of the King Biscuit Flower Hour, the nationally famous syndicated rock radio broadcasts of live concerts from the 1970s and '80s. We also added the Silver Eagle Cross Country archive of country music concerts in 2006, and we haven't stopped there. Keep an ear out for additions to the Concert Vault in the near future. Completely legal! They already have a subsite up selling some of the collection's GNR merchandise, so I'd assume there will be Guns N' Roses concerts eventually: http://www.wolfgangsvault.com/catalog.aspx?PerformingArtistID=2783 Be sure to register and ask (politely) in the forums that you want to hear Guns N' Roses! It'd be so cool to see a video of that show...

Title: Re: New site might be streaming unreleased GNR concerts from the 1980s Post by: kaasupoltin on January 26, 2007, 05:31:42 AM I read about this site some time ago. Back then they only streamed stuff from Zeppelin and Doors.. or something like that. But I just hope this is true. If so, I'll have to learn how to record net streams :hihi:
Title: Re: New site might be streaming unreleased GNR concerts from the 1980s Post by: knut on January 26, 2007, 05:44:07 AM Wasn't this site sued by someone from Zeppelin or something?

Title: Re: New site might be streaming unreleased GNR concerts from the 1980s Post by: JimBobJoeJackJr on January 26, 2007, 08:39:41 AM According to articles that I've read, there are many musicians that are pissed about this. At this point they are looking into options on either shutting this down or on a better control of what is released. Their argument is that Graham would have contated these musicians or reps of deceased musicians to get signoff on any releases before moving forward. Now this dude is just doing whatever he wants.
Not that I'm arguing one way or the other. We will definately get access to recordings that otherwise might never see the light of day. Title: Re: New site might be streaming unreleased GNR concerts from the 1980s Post by: markpeterhughes73 on January 26, 2007, 08:41:21 AM Copyrights and permission would be needed and I'd imagine those decisions are signed over during contract negotiating. ?If it was legally correct I think we'd have concert footage widespread over the internet legally but we don't unless you use P2P. ?Now if the GNR website offered Streaming content at minimal pricing I'm sure lots of fans would want to see concerts they've been to, me for one!

Title: Re: New site might be streaming unreleased GNR concerts from the 1980s Post by: Scree on January 26, 2007, 01:24:27 PM It'd be cool to have some streaming GnR gigs.. I'm suprised to see Slade on there.. that's a cool band live.. saw them years ago live. Had a laugh at a mate here in North America when he said "Mama weer all crazee now" was a quiet riot song and Slade covered it. He knows better now lol

Title: Re: New site might be streaming unreleased GNR concerts from the 1980s Post by: 1badapple on January 26, 2007, 10:52:01 PM This site is being sued by some artists.
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2006/12/26/BUGUIN44ML1.DTL i looked it over a couple months back when i read about the lawsuit and they had a couple of older GnR promo posters and ticket stubs, that was pretty much it. I wouldn't hold my breath on any GnR shows getting streamed on there.
