Title: There was a six skull cross design!?
Post by: ChrisGuy on January 23, 2007, 06:46:40 PM
I was playing GNR pinball today and for the FIRST time realized that theres a DIzzy skull on the bottom of the Appetite/Axl cross

Is there a bigger picture of the design somewhere? Call me dense but Ive never seen that particular cross design anywhere.
EDIT: Just found this bigger pic.

I only noticed that recently too. I guess they made one for the pinball machine since Dizzy was an official member.

Ironically though - its Izzy's skull, but Gilby is featured on the translite.

Also - I can't tell from that picture, but it looks like a Matt skull (I see a red bandanna) instead of a Steven skull.

^Are you sure it's Izzy? They're so similiar that their skulls would be almost identical..

In all honesty, it looks like Adler's skull with a bandanna over it to make it a Sorum skull.

That is interesting. Never noticed it. I got to play it years ago in amsterdam. I would love to buy the GNR pinball for my garage. Anyone know where I could buy it?

I wonder why I haven't noticed this before, so thanks for the info  Actually it looks pretty cool, but I wonder why Gilby's not there. Maybe it was made/designed in the early '91..

Yes I know, but I was thinking if some of the designs were made earlier.. like early '91.

Yeah I have the pinball machine too, all the way down here in Perth, Western Australia.? See the pic below:

So Herman are you still thinking of trading your pins for a classic 69 Mustang Fastback?

The Six Skull Cross design query also reminds me of a couple of other quirks with the artwork.? The original prototype translite for the machine - (see the second image below) had a few errors.? Axl, Slash and Duff are painted from a Sweet Child O Mine sleeve picture from 88, yet Gilby and Matt are hanging out with them as thought it's present day (94 when the pin was released).?

In addition, below the main pic is images of concert footage from 91 and it looks like Izzy is actually depicted on it.? No wonder that translite got replaced.

Someone needs to do a version of the cross with the new members. A really big cross.

I tried doing my own version of the cross and skulls in 2002-03.  Didn't turn out as awesome as these ones did.

It looks like it is supposed to be Dizzy at the top, and Gilby on the bottom. The Izzy hat looks like it has been turned into Dizzy's cowboy hat
