Title: Harley Davidson Press Release Post by: GypsySoul on November 07, 2006, 12:54:13 PM Monday, November 6, 2006 - Harley-Davidson Press Release
Guns N' Roses has licensed music to Harley-Davidson for a new television commercial, "Black Sheep." The commercial was shot in black and white and shows black sheep of various herds escaping and running wild while the Guns N' Roses hit, "Paradise City" plays in the background. At the end of the commercial, the black sheep end up at a Harley-Davidson motorcycle rally. This marks the first time Guns N' Roses has agreed to license one of their songs for a commercial. The "Black Sheep" commercial, featuring "Paradise City," will air during Busch Grand National and Nextel Cup Races October 8 through November 19. An alternative version, launching early November, premieres the new, exclusive, unreleased Guns N' Roses track "Better" from their new album, "Chinese Democracy," which will be released later this year. Either that, or we'll have a few more mods with negative karma. :hihi: For those who haven't seen it yet, let's talk about it on the tube. Title: Re: Harley Davidson Press Release Post by: Sandinista on November 07, 2006, 12:58:50 PM I've seen it before!
Title: Re: Harley Davidson Press Release Post by: stardustonmyfeet on November 07, 2006, 12:59:25 PM How come no one was allowed to talk about it before now? SOrry if dumb question but im new around here

Title: Re: Harley Davidson Press Release Post by: KIKO2K6 on November 07, 2006, 01:03:40 PM bah news to me, so is this pretty much the tell-tale sign that better is the new single? Yes It looks like Better is the first single. : ok: Title: Re: Harley Davidson Press Release Post by: alternativemonkey on November 07, 2006, 01:06:17 PM This is thread is destined for the trash bin.
Title: Re: Harley Davidson Press Release Post by: A Private Eye on November 07, 2006, 01:08:29 PM This is thread is destined for the trash bin. Nope we can discuss it now. So we should expect the ad at some point in Nov, so we should really expect the single in Nov too or at least radio play? Title: Re: Harley Davidson Press Release Post by: PeterCoffin on November 07, 2006, 01:10:22 PM bah news to me, so is this pretty much the tell-tale sign that better is the new single? Yes It looks like Better is the first single. : ok: Title: Re: Harley Davidson Press Release Post by: Refused on November 07, 2006, 01:11:20 PM Well, if Paradise City is on the advert until the 19th.... I guess that makes the release of the album or possibly the single on the 21st all the more likely.
Title: Re: Harley Davidson Press Release Post by: Eclipsed107 on November 07, 2006, 01:11:34 PM If the album does drop this year it'll be the last tuesday of the year (or maybe the second last so it's out before xmas) and the single should be dropping around the end of November with the commercial.
Chinese Democracy starts Late November / Early December? ?Hopefully. 8) Title: Re: Harley Davidson Press Release Post by: pilferk on November 07, 2006, 01:12:56 PM I guess the mods got further word that it is now OK to talk about this.....
Title: Re: Harley Davidson Press Release Post by: Skeba on November 07, 2006, 01:13:54 PM I believe if the album is to come out this year, people will want it to be out there before christmas. And this is certainly a step to the right direction.
Title: Re: Harley Davidson Press Release Post by: uzisuicide2002 on November 07, 2006, 01:14:34 PM HAHAHA thats funny POOF its gone
Title: Re: Harley Davidson Press Release Post by: Voodoochild on November 07, 2006, 01:16:43 PM Could someone give me the link for the source? I can't find this press release anywhere... :(
ps: of course I know it's true, I just want the real source to put on my board. Title: Re: Harley Davidson Press Release Post by: Charity Case on November 07, 2006, 01:17:11 PM Very good news IMO. ?I bet Harley Davidson had to get permission from GNR to isse that press release (or at least have a locked contract to use Better in November). ?This is welcome news after a less than perfect last few days.
Also, it seems to give credibility to the Nov. 21st rumors for at least something to happen. Title: Re: Harley Davidson Press Release Post by: uzisuicide2002 on November 07, 2006, 01:18:45 PM well its November..SO GIVE ME BETTER!!! lol
Title: Re: Harley Davidson Press Release Post by: Kov on November 07, 2006, 01:37:31 PM HOLY F**N S**T IT'S NOT DELETED YET!!!

This album is going to be released 21 nov. !!! Title: Re: Harley Davidson Press Release Post by: evergreen_layne on November 07, 2006, 01:41:34 PM I know isn't it great! I mean.......what?
Title: Re: Harley Davidson Press Release Post by: whiny on November 07, 2006, 01:46:22 PM I believe if the album is to come out this year, people will want it to be out there before christmas. Title: Re: Harley Davidson Press Release Post by: Journeyman on November 07, 2006, 02:12:22 PM maybe it means CD on the 21st...28th. I bet its one of those dates, or at least 5th of december, not later than that
Title: Re: Harley Davidson Press Release Post by: Lucky on November 07, 2006, 02:15:12 PM what ever happened to the single?!
I tought we were gonna get a single first. Title: Re: Harley Davidson Press Release Post by: killingvector on November 07, 2006, 02:18:07 PM Quote ...which will be released later this year. How much later? There aren't many weeks left in 06. Title: Re: Harley Davidson Press Release Post by: mega_music on November 07, 2006, 02:30:56 PM Glad we can talk about it now, I saw it this past Sunday during the Nascar race. Very cool commercial.
Title: Re: Harley Davidson Press Release Post by: GnFnR87 on November 07, 2006, 02:37:31 PM i think its? possible for the official premiere/release of this commercial featuring "better" to be in conjunction with a single release of "better" and promotion for the album which is still coming out this year, but in december now. heres to hoping.
Title: Re: Harley Davidson Press Release Post by: Rockdawg on November 07, 2006, 02:42:42 PM Maybe they will not release the single and release the album Nov. 21st?
Title: Re: Harley Davidson Press Release Post by: DemocracyRose on November 07, 2006, 03:14:00 PM My hopes for CD in 2006 is back!!! :-*
Title: Re: Harley Davidson Press Release Post by: bangit on November 07, 2006, 03:22:11 PM Wasnt there a thread about this on here yesterday? was it deleted or is this it i cant fuckin remember.
Anyway, if better appears on that advert and is played on tv across the us, its a massive step in the right direction!!!!!!!! Has anyone got the actual source link for this, where has the press release come from??????? Title: Re: Harley Davidson Press Release Post by: GNRSANDMAN on November 07, 2006, 03:24:17 PM Yes it was deleted for whatever reason. But now we can talk abouy it.......... ok?
Title: Re: Harley Davidson Press Release Post by: Nytunz on November 07, 2006, 03:29:01 PM The Harley thing with GNR in the background, makes me wanna buy a Harley Davidson more then ever!
Guess the comercial works : ok: Title: Re: Harley Davidson Press Release Post by: bangit on November 07, 2006, 03:38:16 PM So there is no actual source for this then????? i cant find shit on the net about it.
Very strange. Title: Re: Harley Davidson Press Release Post by: Eazy E on November 07, 2006, 04:29:35 PM It's a shame they made two versions of the commercial... the Paradise City one seems much more appropriate and suited to the commercial. If only one version was made with Better as the music, we couldn't compare.

Title: Re: Harley Davidson Press Release Post by: Skunk on November 07, 2006, 04:49:12 PM kind of makes me think the album got delayed a few weeks, so the ad with Better was also delayed the same amount of time - but HD had their own plans to show the commercial at various times and so the PC was shown instead.
Title: Re: Harley Davidson Press Release Post by: wight gunner on November 07, 2006, 04:54:27 PM Quote makes me wanna buy a Harley Davidson more then ever! It's New GNR.. in a commercial.? i think its a smart move to draw the casual people in with using PC first.... those people will remember that they love GNR instantly by hearing PC. when the new single hits, they'll give it more of a chance. I think most people will like "Better", but I think they should play the intro thru the verse and pre-chorus....i didn't like the edit of the song in the commercial when i saw it online a week or ago. the intro, verse....F-CKIN SLAM!!! When Axl first comes in "The hardest part.." is just magic. Another magical part for me is in the 2nd verse, when the "No one ever told me when....." comes back. Amazing. Id leave the outro out of the commercial. Its cool, but its meant to be heard at the END, not as a main sell of the song. Whatever...doesn't matter......if they actually DO some heavy promo, Axl and GNR will rule the music world again. And it will all be totally legit. Title: Re: Harley Davidson Press Release Post by: grog mug on November 07, 2006, 10:07:23 PM Will it play on every station I'm assuming or just certain ones? For those who share the opinion above, does this tarnish your view of the band? shame seemingly I haven't advanced much. :-[ I personally don?t hate hearing good songs on good TV commercials. Maybe US commercials are all craps, but I?ve seen really beautiful commercial films, even better than most of music video clips. When the commercial film is a cool one, it promotes the music efficiently far and wide. The ad is cool. It will go well with better as well. it may be even better if they make a new film for the ad with better. PC doesn't work at all on it... Title: Re: Harley Davidson Press Release Post by: bringu2yourknees on November 08, 2006, 04:13:20 PM I also feel that PC is a bit too "uptempo" for the setting of the commercial. When "Better" was played in the background though, it all seemed to flow alittle more smoothly.

Just have Axl wearing some jeans, biker boots, sporting a goatee, shirt sleeves cut off flashing the tats. Axl is kind of the "black sheep" of rock and roll. The commercial stays the same with Axl coming out at the end. ;D

Title: Re: Harley Davidson Press Release Post by: RnT on November 17, 2006, 11:31:36 AM here?s a stupid question... (sorry if it?s already mentioned)
they aired on the net the comercial with BETTER, then changed for PC... but, how they got Better from the label? because they changed to PC so fast that just make me think that the album ( or the single BETTER ) WERE supossed to be released to promote the band, and something happened... so, why GNR label will give the NEW song to the comercial without a MKT plan for an single / album ? Title: Re: Harley Davidson Press Release Post by: TAP on November 18, 2006, 02:10:51 PM wow, a commercial which hasn't even aired yet is dead horse. ;D

Unless, of course, the "Better" version hits at same time as the album...
Title: Re: Harley Davidson Press Release Post by: Wicked Demon on November 18, 2006, 02:45:57 PM Maybe things have changed, but this is still in the HTML source of the H-D website, confirming Better as the single (I don't think that has been confirmed anywhere else):
<script language="javascript"> <!-- function shareWithFriend() { var to = ""; var subject = "Harley-Davidson and Guns N' Roses present a 'Better' way to live."; var emailbody = "Check out the latest?H-D commercial, featuring the exclusive preview of the single?'Better'?from the upcoming?Guns N' Roses album, 'Chinese Democracy'. http://www.harley-davidson.com/blacksheep" var doc = "mailto:" + to + "&subject=" + escape(subject) + "&body=" + escape(emailbody); window.location = doc; } //--> </script></pagedef> http://www.harley-davidson.com/wcm/Content/Pages/Detour/Black_Sheep.jsp?&locale=en_US Title: Re: Harley Davidson Press Release Post by: Slashead on November 18, 2006, 02:51:13 PM ? ? ? It is written "new song".? http://www.harley-davidson.com/wcm/Content/Pages/Detour/Black_Sheep.jsp?&locale=en_US Title: Re: Harley Davidson Press Release Post by: Wicked Demon on November 18, 2006, 02:59:26 PM The word "single" is not mentioned on HD site. It is written "new song". I'm referring to something different. I believe the text I'm looking at is from the first iteration of the web site, before it was changed to Paradise City. The text I'm looking at is still in the web's HTML source, only has been since commented out. It was part of the "Send this to your friend" JavaScript function, which would send an e-mail to an address you entered. You're looking at the newly written part of the page; if you "View Source", you will see the exact JavaScript function I pasted here. Nice detective work ... although I don't know if it means much, ultimately. GNR seem to change their plans every five minutes ... Title: Re: Harley Davidson Press Release Post by: Loco_motive on January 10, 2007, 04:22:02 PM Nothing earth shattering here, but the Black Sheep page has been changed and no longer mentions Better.

No way! Title: Re: Harley Davidson Press Release Post by: bigbri on January 10, 2007, 09:46:29 PM Harley probably got sick of waiting for GNR. I know the feeling.
Title: Re: Harley Davidson Press Release Post by: A Private Eye on January 11, 2007, 11:13:33 AM That ad will never air now GNR missed the boat where that's concerned.
Title: Re: Harley Davidson Press Release Post by: bazgnr on January 11, 2007, 05:05:26 PM Unfortunate, but not surprisig. Hopefully the ad will resurface.
Title: Re: Harley Davidson Press Release Post by: The Legend on January 11, 2007, 11:50:57 PM I think this ad is dead, unless it gets on the Super Bowl.
Title: Re: Harley Davidson Press Release Post by: FunkyMonkey on January 11, 2007, 11:57:21 PM I think this ad is dead also. It will be interesting to see how the promotion will begin. : ok:
Title: Re: Harley Davidson Press Release Post by: emanc93 on January 17, 2007, 06:11:53 PM It may be a stretch but I think that the Harley Davidson ad may be shown during the superbowl. I mean think about it. Great hype for the band and album and the first single off the album would be close to being released. I think it could happen. Thoughts?
Title: Re: Harley Davidson Press Release Post by: downzy56 on January 17, 2007, 06:14:26 PM I doubt it as it would make too much sense...

Cheers, Andrew Lol... :hihi: Keep in mind, Super Bowl ad time cost a fortune. Isn't like a few million just for 30-seconds of air time?
