I've heard several GN'R covers, mostly from no name rock acts on the horizon, and usually, the instrumentals sound great. Alot of them, although they miss a few things (they might be putting their own twist on it), get it right on guitar.
But they completely miss the boat on the vocals. Not that anyone can't top Axl, it's not that, it's just... it's like the soul is missing from the song. There's been a few artists that have done live covers of GN'R, and have done well, but I still don't think anything has officially came out that's good. Not yet.
