So what does this mean?  ;D

Maybe the last minor vocal recordings are done and Axl's in NYC doing record negotiations with Universal.  Or he's just having fun with Baz.  :peace:

My guess is he's on schedule (the timetable in his open letter).  Vocal recording is now done....and he's in NYC (where, I assume, his management still is...though I don't know for sure now that Merck is gone) negotiating with the label.

Looks like things might be proceeding exactly as planned....if that's true, here's hoping the negotiations go quickly and smoohtly.

he might be in nyc for the mixing...

do you really think he needs to negotiate anything with the label at this point?

He can record pretty much anywhere...

i hope the CD is done now, or mixing it and giving it to Universal.

you'd be surprised

I think he's in New York for either mixing, or to meet with label execs.

Exactly.  It was also a long weekend (Martin Luther King holiday).

And that blog news of Axl in New York was from Saturday.? Today is Wednesday.? He could not even be there anymore.? Take it with a grain of salt.

Did you read his open letter?

And the reasoning for cancelling the January shows?

Now look at the date.

Yeah, I'm assuming there is more to negotiate with the label (restructuring/renegotiating their contract).....since he says as much.

Absolutely true.

We're all guessing....but wasn't that the point of the thread/original post?  To speculate on the meaning?

Because obviously the OP didn't expect anyone on this forum to actually KNOW.  :smoking:

Everything is speculation at this point, and if were going to speculate it appears everything in his letter is coming true.

Fact ( a close to fact as it gets with this band) he was in LV doing finishing touches.

Now he is in NY most likely doing negotiations with the label.

It sounds like evrything is on track with his letter still pointing towards the tenative release date.

Since we're specualting, lets not forget that Dizzy's schedule now has January 20-February 3 with a gap because of "GN'R's ever changing schedule."
So maybe they will be shooting a video then. Or even doing a band photoshoot.   :smoking:

What about that he joined in for the mastering? Guns N' Roses is still on George Marinos list of current work.

Title: Re: Axl is in New York
Post by: a. on January 17, 2007, 10:26:53 AM
I bet you now that Axl has more control over the management of the band that things will finally start moving along. Sometimes it takes those who are actually invested mentally in the endeavour to do it themselves. You can NEVER count on others to get the job done! The unfortunate thing about this, is that Axl may have to take a slight "back seat" to his music to get his music out there. This is why you hire people to do the job for you, but if it's not getting done properly you have to do something about it. So... great work Axl, looking forward to the music!

we thought axl being in NYC was a good sign before..... i mean it really was to some extent, but it didn`t help in getting the album out in 2006, so nothing is for sure at the moment.

i`m quite positive about the process though. mastering or negotiating..... we`ll probably hear something in the next weeks... : ok:

A friend of mine from NYC called me Sunday night to tell me she partied with Axl at a club on the weekend. ? She was really excited when she was talking with him and when she was telling me about it. ?She did give me some info I hadn't heard before. ?The info is scetchy because she was so excited the details were hard for her to remember, but here are the highlights;

? - mentioned something about working with K-OS and/or his producer??
? - mentioned having a house in Miami
? - was really happy and surprised when she told him "The Blues" was her favorite song. ?He then explained to her how he changed the ending of the song and sang her the new ending. ?I am assuming the new version is the 2006 version as aposed to the Pittsburg version.
? - he was very gratious and flattered that she new about the new songs. ?
? - ?he was drinking champaign
? - she said "he seems to be very aware of his reputation". ?Read that how you want.
? - mentioned having about 50 songs complete and they are trying to select which ones will be on CD.

I am sorry the info is scetchy but it's all I have. ?This was really a cool phone call to get from her, because she became a fan when I brought her to the Sunday Hammerstein show. ?After that I hooked her up with some the new songs (Blues, Maddy, Better). ?She then went to the MSG show on her own. ?She has no reason to lie to me about this and I have no reason to lie to you about this, I have no need in my life to be the flame target I am about to become. ?;D ?Just thought I would pass on this info, I know it's not ground breaking but there is some new info.

Peace ?:peace:

Posting a complaint about people posting in this thread is what some people might call hypocritical. You got a better thread to start, then start one.

there is no point getting excited anymore. ill get excited when i now for sure that the cd is on the shelves of my local record store, and even then i might need some kind of theraphy. march the 6th is not any different than saying absolutely is coming out this year or there are 13 tuesdays left. not trying to be negative but dont get your hopes high coz the odds are against us. they have been for many years now.

I agree with this statement to an extent. Regardless, there's nothing about this album that's set in stone.

We know that Axl Rose will be on it.

Tentatively, yes.

Amen, pretty much.

I posted this elsewhere, but if there's no announcement today, you can pretty much kiss March 6th goodbye. He said he wants 'proper promotion'. Announcing a release date less than two months in advance with no single is not 'proper promotion'.

And I bet he went to NY in hopes that people would stop tracking his every move wondering what he's up to. Obviously didn't work.

Also, someone wrote something about 'I wish everyone would stop using the word 'tentative''  ...dood, 'tentative' is to Axl Rose as 'drug bust' is to Scott Weiland. This might be worth accepting and getting used to  : ok:

For almost 10 years one person or another has been making claims like that for whatever reason.

I'm pretty sure it turned out to be bullshit. No single has arrived at the radio station I work at yet, either.

how bout some real speculation on some real album news

Yeah, that would be nice right about now. Especially since the album's tentative release date is? just over a month and a half away. Here's to Chinese Democracy on March 6th !!

I'm sure we'll hear something soon enough. I'm getting excited about how close it actually is now.

March 6th is very unlikely now, simply due to the amount of time left. 8 weeks really is the magic number for album releases. It's nearly 6 weeks now until the 6th, any chance of seeing CD on that date is very very slim, end of March is still possible though.

Just curious, but how do singles usually come? I mean, it seems like most stations get them at the same time. I guess they use expedited shipping in order to get them to places that are further away than others. Unless they just email it to you as a digital version? Or do they just send it to ya really early in the mail and then tell everyone not to play it until such and such date?

It depends really. Some songs do get rush released over the internet, but its very rare. Usually, we'll get a single a few days to a week before the "add" date - which is just that - the date that radio stations can start adding it to their rotation.

I'll put it this way - we've been playing singles from new albums due in March since the start of the year. So, if a single is really going to be out by next week (using Gunsguys' timeline) - then we should have it any day now.

Gunsguy's timeline is irrelevant, because he was proven to be bullshit.  His "proof" that he had a connection was a letter from Sanctuary with typos.

There's tons of official documents that are released with typos.

yes... just cause there's a typo doesnt mean that the document is false. I dont think that there's some english teacher reading every e-mail sent by people working on that company or whatever is that.

People check documents for typos, but they're only human. It gets past them all the time.

The letter seems to be not a fake. Same phonenumber etc...
One email or a phonecall would make it clear. People are usually interested if someone is
using them. Andrea would be.

The generel story needs to be cleared, though.
Don?t remember.
Next week?

I don't think next week is going to happen, GNR wise.

I think it'll be more to mid-february, with a Single released and the official date of the album being revealed, for, maybe, around April...

Every time I come on and see this thread title I think of a potential sitcom. It's just the way it's worded I guess. Wouldn't be a terribly funny sitcom, either.

The letter was from Sanctuary Records wich has nothing to do with the band.

Let's just wait for it. We'll know soon enough.

Hopefully we will hear word of some kind in next week to 10 days.

For March 6th. to happen, a single would have to appear early Feb?

The album would also have to have been completed and handed to Universal approx. 1-2 weeks ago. I would have thought if that had happened we might have heard by now.
