Title: Question about TWAT in Madrid
Post by: littleredcorvette on January 16, 2007, 02:17:27 PM
I already asked this in the TWAT thread and got no reply so sorry about making a whole topic of it.

In the 12/5 verion of TWAT Axl wussed out of the high 'I would do anything for you' part before Ron's solo but nailed a modified version at the end of the song. I haven't heard the Madrid verion, how did he do on the high parts there?

I'm on dial-up so I can I'm afraid. And he so does chicken out....he starts singing as on the demo but then fades away before he's meant to scream 'youuuuu'. Makes up for it at the end tho!

I don't think I have heard the 12/5 version, but in Madrid he doesn't sound great but he does the whole 'I would do anything for you' and he gets it in his own live way. He gets drowned out a bit in places, and it doesnt sound as good at the end. But the first few high 'I would do anything for you' before the solo is pretty shiver worthy. And the solo kills it.

Um, does dial up mean you dont have the 'new' MJ songs..?

The bootleg is not bad enough to not reveal inpurities.

T.W.A.T. needs a bit more practice. Granted it was only performed twice, but it's still a little rough around the edges. It seems like a complex song, and difficult to play live.

exactly... like when Estranged was played first time live... I didn't like it... not much though
I liked a lot the Madrid version of TWAT. Axl's voice, the whole music and mainly Ron's solo. That was the 2nd time live and like 2 months after he joined the band, if I'm not wrong. He rocks.  : ok:

The second solo at Madrid is way better than the NY one. But even the demo is a bit rough - the beginning never feels smooth, and the song is messy until the first solo, but then it really picks up. I expect it will get better with practice, it's one of their best new songs imo.

Where and when did they first play Estranged live?

Exactly. Estranged was a very similar song, and a very similar case of 'practice made perfect'.

Yeah I can't imagine that song is a picnic in the park to pull off live, but once the album drops and they start doing those tunes every night....my god, TWAT is gonna be huge.

Exactly what I think. When they practice TWAT, the song will be a really nice song played live.
