Title: New Music From Tommy!
Post by: russtcb on January 15, 2007, 02:09:39 PM
I work for Sony, we have a movie coming out called "Catch And Release". I just noticed today that in the lower left hand corner of the movie poster it says "With New Music From BT & Tommy Stinson".

Not sure who BT is, but I thought I'd pass it along to everyone!

BT is a composer for films.  Along w/ Stinson on Catch & Release, he's done music for Zoolander, Stealth, Go, and more.

And that's great that we have more music from Tommy on the way...can't get enough of VGH!

I was looking forward to this movie before I even knew that Tommy had a part in the music, since it has my boy Kevin Smith in it.
I was also surprised that such a minor bit of news could turn into an old vs new arguement again, but some people will just not let shit go.

My g\f wants to go and see this movie, Im not much of a person to go to chick flicks at the movies, but I guess Tommy having music in the film will make for a good excuse.

BT also releases his own albums as well. If anyone is into techo, they will know BT. I have most of BT's studio releases. He is one of the better DJ's out there.

Richard fortus toured with bt. My aunt was in the band with him as a bassist. I believe it was in 2000, maybe 2002, not sure. I could check though.

EDIT* Here it is, it's from 2000

MTV NEWS: BT, HOOVERPHONIC TO LAY FIRST JENSENERGY TOUR

BT and Hooverphonic have just signed on to headline the premier JENSENERGY tour, an electronica outing sponsored by JENSEN, the car and home audio manufacturer, slated to kick off on September 28 in Austin, Texas.

BT, the composer-producer-performer also known as Brian Transeau, will front a six-piece live band during his headlining stint for the 31-date North American tour that will continue through a November 6 show in Vancouver, British Columbia.

In July and August, Transeau took to the road to support his new album, "Movement In Still Life." The solo trek was built around BT's DJ and turntable skills, but even then, he was already looking forward to enlisting more personnel into a larger scale live production.

Transeau plans to play keyboards and sing vocals for the tour, and his backing band will include Richard Fortus of Love Spit Love on guitar, Nate Morton on drums, Nicki Tedesco on bass, Tony Stewart on the turntables, and singer-actress Toddy Walters ("Orgazmo," "South Park") providing backing vocals.

Touring aside, BT is also in the midst of scoring the film "Redline," as well as writing the music for the game sequences in the remake of "Rollerball" (see "BT To Score, Appear In 'Rollerball,' 'Redline' Films"). Transeau will also appear in the latter film, which stars rapper L.L. Cool J.

my aunt is nicki tedesco.

Some of the reviews are in.  It sound like they didn't like the movie but did like the music.  Where is the GNR mention?

Footnote: Tommy Stinson, who used to tear it up with The Replacements (talk about concerts you never forget), co-wrote the film's score. While the music's used rather obviously--as with "Elizabethtown," the songs ride in at all the obvious emotional junctures and restate what we already know--Stinson's sensibility is fresher than most. Fresher than the film's, in fact.

The story of a woman stunned by the sudden death of a loved one, who recovers just enough to love his best friend isn't just creaky, it's creepy. Were it not for some nice music, partially provided by Tommy Stinson of, I'm assuming, the immortal Replacements, there could be no good reason to see Catch and Release.
