Title: RUMOUR: GnR to play in ireland?
Post by: Evil Ash on January 12, 2007, 05:52:12 AM
I have no idea what this is, but it's not from the 2006...

It might be hypothetical but i think it's worth checking out ;)

Therapy? supporting Guns ?N Roses and Motorhead!

Paranoid Visions - anytime, anywhere (but should not really be supporting any act)!

Guns N' Roses and Motorhead later? Or a joint headline show? I don't see that happening, at least not with GN'R & MH.

this looks more like someone's dream line-up to me.  The title suggests that too.  Knock out supports - ie who would you most like to see support which headliners.  In this case the poster wanted these bands.

thats how I read it anyway.

I would imagine that if guns will be playing over here in ireland this year lord henry mountcharles will no doubt want them to play in his back garden again.

I think madonna was the last to play slane castle & it would be super to bring back axl & co again .I would imagine the sooner cd is released the better ....in saying that guns got a great crowd in the rds this year roughly 25-30 thousand after being away for sooo long whilst when they played slane at the height of their fame they played to 55 thousand if memory serves me correct.

This figure will be smashed no doubt if they decide to open up slane this year for a concert .

Here's hoping folks.

Gnr cant play slane again, lord henry mountcharles has a rule that no1 can headline slane twice, and i heard that it is going to be AC/DC, but i hear that every year. Therapy were at the RDS last year, playing in the small tent, but motorhead were not, so dont no where this came from, i think they will be back next year, huge crowd last year, if they play the festivals in the uk they will prob stop over here, hopefully.? ?;D

Dunno what  that's about, but it's not happening.

That aside, the band Therapy? is listed. A great band from Northern Ireland. Do yourself a favour and listen to some of thier stuff (especially the earlier stuff.. songs like Potato Junkie are cool)

Except U2? They played there twice in 2001.

Well technically yes, but that is seen as the one concert, once you headline one year you cant headline another. U2 played support to Thin Lizzy way back, so gnr could play if they supported someone else.

I'd guess Lord Mountcharles would be very interested in Guns N Roses.

I dont know if the rule would bother him , there was no gig there last year and in 2005 Eminem cancelled.

Slane badly needs a big rock concert for 2007

I remember the last slane gig a couple of years ago, Madaonna, there was a pic of Lord Henry at the gig wearing a guns n roses t shirt so he must be a fan!

its more that lord henry's sons were fans of guns n roses.

he did comment on a review of all gigs at slane that guns were one of the best. he also said that axl was totally off the wall.

my little fun house did an interview before Christmas and they had some interesting things to say about Axl!

ACDC are supposed to be headlining SLANE next year.

Therapy? played at the Download festival in Dublin last year. The day GN'R headlined.

I think they played on the second stage.

Yeah they did, along with Lauren Harris (iron maiden bass player's daughter)

Not sure if GN'R will play another big event just a year after last playing before 35,000 ppl.
I would have thought AC/DC would do it, but with no new album on the horizon it seems, maybe Iron Maiden?

Be nice if it was the Guns though.

Ya slane badly needs a huge rock band, but there not a whole lot of them out there at the moment, I heard that having no concert the last two years has hit his bank balance hard. At this stage i think its all about the money for him, madaonna, eminem (meant to play), moby, robbie williams, all he wants to do is sell tickets. Im surprised he doesnt go with green day or coldplay, they would prob sell out. Anyway i dont see the guns rocking up there this year.

Too bad there's this one time thing. It would have been cool to go back to Ireland to see GN'R at Slane. I went to the RDS show last summer and I had a blast.

U2 have played Slane more than twice, they played one of the earlier gigs in Slane too when they were very young
