mygnr is saying that the fire is about 3 and a half miles away from Axl, but still, this is a freaking inferno/wildfire we're talking about. NOTHING is safe. I'm hoping for the best at this point.

Atleast it didnt get his house RIGHT AWAY.....I'm sure at the least, he is safe. I hope his house doesnt get destroyed.  :crying:

Apparently, Malibu frequently has these kind of disasters: Malibu has frequently been the scene of devastating fires, with its steep, brushy canyons funneling winds into luxurious neighborhoods where Pacific views draw movie stars and millionaires. In 1993, hundreds of homes were lost and three people were killed. A 1996 fire injured 11 people and destroyed six homes.

I heard it was on PCH (Pacific Coast Hwy) and Malibu Canyon Road which is down the coast a little bit.  It is also burning toward the ocean not up the canyon which is good news for Axl...bad if you live at the beach.

A bit of a relief, but all it will take is one wind gust to push it the other way.

And apparently, its windy as hell there right now.

3 miles is a long way away...hopefully he got out of there...if he was there.....

I use to fight Forest Fires and 3 miles IS VERY CLOSE for a forest fire. Those things spread so fast, it would take just over 5 or 6 hours to spread 3 miles, maybe faster than that depending on the wind.


Hope the fire crews rake some fire lines quick.

I believe the article said the fire was between the coast and the Pacific Coast Highway, approximately one mile from Pepperdine University.

Without specifying the location of axl's house, I believe he is a bit further than 3 miles away.

I am very positive Axl has already left the state by now! :beer:

The Malibu fire has been officially "put-out" and both lanes along Pacific Coast Highway have been reopened.

Four homes along the beach were destroyed and four more were damaged.? Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.

There are still some gusty winds in the area, but firefighters (and local television crews) are really keeping a close eye on the situation.

Yes I would tend to agree! ?The road name mentioned is not the definate road he lives on but yes definately within the vicinity.

yeah the fire is contained now anyhow and it wasn't close to axl's house like a couple others have said.

Im sure Axl is not gonna hang around the house if the fire gets close.

Most important of all, isn't Beta there? If she is, I hope that she is alright.  :'( Somethings are more important than music.

someone said it's 3 miles away, that's far.  no it isn't, it's really close actually.  the california hills are dry and barren, with the winds, those fires move really fast.  and they are a regular occurance, i'm sure axl and anyone at his house would know when to leave.  axl's house must be in a good location, he's owned it for how long, and he's not got burned out yet.

He's dealt with wildfires before, I think he'd know when to leave.

However, maybe this wasn't the best choice of thread titles? It inspires panic. I almost had a stroke.

This isn't the first time there's been fires near Axl's house. I'm pretty sure every couple of years or so...IIRC.

Yeah, and I'm sure he's out in some club or something anyway. Beta's probably just chilling out with him, too. I feel sorry for Tommy, though, since he lives in Axl's bassment. :hihi:

YES IT IS A GOOD THING EVERYTHING IS GOOD.i think that really sucks fires distroying homes out there.it happens way to often.they said they don't know what caused the fire on the news.strange they don't know huh.i hope not areson.that someone set it delibritly.

It doesnt matter how much money you have or are going to get... there are things that are irreplaceable in which  rattles a person to their bones in those houses... I am glad that Axl and Beta are ok...

safety measures here tell you to take all bushes that surround your house away, away from gates and the house itself, so a fire shouldn't get to the house but all around... :-\

That is dumb... the heat of a fire can make thing combust a head of it... In a sense it smart... but it isnt going to stop a fire of that size...

It does help save houses in the south of france every year and our fires have nothing to envy to the malibu ones you know ?

It's supposed to stop fires from having " something to eat from", meaning if the fires only has soil/ground/earth, it'll go to the next thing it can, and take another route.

Problem in most places is that's it's too dry and too bushy...

Also, there are trees ( can't remember which ones) that don't burn easily and they are specifically planted in some european countries nowadays, because of yearly pyromaniacal dramas.

Not what I meant. I agree about the safety thing but saying it isn't going to stop a wildfire.

The good thing is (without trying to give too much away) he sits pretty high up on the canyon road and the way these fires spread is from the high Santa Anna Winds (which come off of the mountains and towards the ocean)... so they would tend to spread down hill away from his property.

^^you aren't giving anything away, most people have seen his house and know what area it is in.  it's not really a huge secret as to where he lives.

i remember reading an article in the past that mentioned a previous fire burning right up to his house and damaging a wall. 

Yeah I remember that as well, I believe it was in 1995/96.
