Post by: Bodhi on January 06, 2007, 02:33:29 PM you didnt give us much of an option its either NEW Band in new style or NEW band playing old style.......i would take OLD band playing any style....nothing against the new band, but what GNR fan wouldnt rather have the old band?? unless they have only been a fan since like 2000 or something

Post by: Bodhi on January 06, 2007, 02:51:34 PM ok then...i would take NEW band playing NEW style...why rip off the old band? they will never be able to do what they did, so they should move on with their new style

Post by: w.slash on January 06, 2007, 05:17:26 PM definitly the old..what a question... i cant understand how ppl can answer the new, even if the new is (just) ok, if they havent got the legend of the old real gnr above us, nobody would talk about axl's new gnr today obviously.
for my own i think we need to move back not to move on at all. reunion? : ok: Title: Re: If you had to choose a cd... Title: Re: If you had to choose a cd... Post by: bazgnr on January 06, 2007, 08:34:14 PM This topic is flawed from the get-go, simply because it has the words "new" and "old" in the question it asks.
The "new" band is GnR - the ONLY GnR, and their style is their own, especially on the new songs that they all have written and recorded. While they have a large shadow to emerge from in many ways, there is no "old style" option for them. They are who they are, and they are/have been creating their new style and identity each and every night they take the stage together. To try to be anything else - especially a cover band, mimicing what came before - would be both a embarrassment and a joke. Title: Re: If you had to choose a cd... Title: Re: If you had to choose a cd... Post by: supaplex on January 08, 2007, 02:08:01 AM from the options i'd go for the new band with new style just because we don't need them to copy people from the past. we've got cover bands doing that and it's enough.
funny how we still call them new although some of them have been here for 8-10 years :hihi: and i chose the new/new because i want to see what they are capable of doing and i hope that the comparisons with the old guys will slowly fade. i know i'm dreaming but... :hihi: Title: Re: If you had to choose a cd... These guys are Guns N' Roses, but they will always be considered 'new era' imo. Title: Re: If you had to choose a cd... Post by: -Jack- on January 08, 2007, 04:26:30 AM New band with the old new band's old style.
Heh. Which actually makes sense if you think about it guys... The New Band (Axl, Dizzy, Frank, Brain, Richard, Robin, Bumblefoot, Tommy, Dizzy and Pittman) with the old new band's (Axl, Finck, Buckethead, Dizzy, Josh, Tommy, Pittman, and Paul) old style (from 1998 and 97 with the rumored NIN/Industrial/Oh My God style) When it comes down to it, picking styles is as ridiculous as what I explained up there. The band has had so many styles and lineups... who has the time to figure it out? I just want NEW music. Don't care what style it is. |
