Title: GNR in this month's Q - 500 lost tracks
Post by: jonnybgoode82 on January 04, 2007, 03:43:13 PM
Shadow of Your Love chosen as one of the world's 500 greatest lost tracks.

Decent little write-up on it as well, bigging the live b-side version of it up.

Then I put the magazine back.

live b-side version

The b-side of ISE and other singles isn't live, it is the same type of recording as Live Like A Suicide.

Shadow of Your Love was a great lost track, but I think Crash Diet was better. THAT track definitely should've made the cut.

Q aren't to know that though, and we shouldn't spoil their fun.  ;)

I agree,..better with Slash's spin on it instead of Chris's on the Hollywood Rose cd? :hihi:  imo.and I also think Crash Diet schools this song,..sweet guitar intro, and just a kick ass song..should of had a more bluesy solo like most of slash's stuff.

Crash Diet, retooled a bit with an 'Illusion-sound', would have been totally at home on the ballad-heavy Use Your Illusion II, and would've been a great-album finisher, opting for no My World.

The Live Like A Suicide 1st-half of GN'R LIES should've dropped the Aerosmith cover Reckless Life, and opened with Shadow of Your Love.

Yes it was. And so was Reckless Life. It was written by Steven Tyler & Joe Perry. They had two Aerosmith covers on LIES.

i'm afraid you are wrong, "nice boys" is the other areosmith cover and "reckless life" is a genuine GN'R song. don't speak so surely when you have no clue, you are misinforming other fans. good day.

You're right. I just found that. Who wrote this fuckin' thing? Because i've seen that, yet i've also seen stuff saying it was written by Steven Tyler & Joe Perry, titled "Wreckless", but never released.

WTF?

While Axl and Izzy were in Rose they wrote a song called "My Way - Your Way". It turned up as "Anything Goes" on "Appetite For Destruction". Other songs from that period are "Shadow Of Your Love" and "Wreckless" (later renamed to "Reckless Life").

C'mon!  Not "Cornshucker"?

If GNR ever plays a porn convention, they should close with "Cornshucker".

When GNR toured for UYI and Axl used to go into the audience to ask for requests for the last song (which someone would always say "Paradise City") I always wanted someone to say Cornshucker.  since it was Duff's song, maybe VR will take it over.

Crash Diet is the best unreleased GNR track.  Shadow of Your Love is a decent 2nd place (the live version is better than the demo).  And I might stick "I Did U No Wrong" in there 3rd only because it's unavailable now.
