Kind of like an all star band. Maynard from Tool and Josh Freese played in it. They released 1.5 good albums. You should check out Mer De Noms.

Perfect Circle is a shitty band who consisted of some members of an even shittier band named Tool...actually Tool makes A Perfect Circle look like the Rolling Stones...

I thought Josh Freeze took some of the music created during his Chinese Democracy sessions with him when he recorded for APC. Axl apparently gave his permission to do so.

Billy Howerdel, the fonding member of a Perfect Circle, was once a guitar tech for Guns N Roses. But besides this and the Josh freese thing, thats the end.? I doubt Axl would sing for a band that he does not have control over.

I dont think that there is anything on APC Cd's that would have much to do with gnr, maybe there are a few beats that freese thought of while under GNR contract.  I thought that the thanks was for letting freese out of his contract or something.  The fact remains that TOOl and APC arent that bad, but you have to say they are terrible to counteract all their fanboys who shout to high heaven that they are the greatest band on earth.  Ive seen both bands and what I will always remember is EODM didnt get booed nearly as much as APC when APC opened up for NIN and at that time APC was much better known that EODM and APC has a much more similar fanbase to NIN that EODM has to GNR.  Fact is if they were the best band ever they wouldnt be booed offstage ever by their target audience.  THey arent as horrible as non fans say, but you have to go far left to even have a conversation with one of their fans.

APC was (is?) quit a good band and i don't think we need to talk about TOOL. They are amazing.
Concerning the connection of AXL to APC : Besides the linernotes in APC's debut (Josh Freese thanks Axl) i never heard of anything in particular..

Having Axl and Maynard share vocals on a APC would definitely rock, but that's also the closest you get to a connection.

Billy Howerdel (APC Guitarist) used to be an engineer or something for GnR, and Freese was working with GnR at the time, I think that howerdel wrote some of the songs for axl but he passed on them so billy decided to make his own band, and maynard agreed to sing with him

APC was Billy Howerdel's band...maynard just did some singing for him, Axl is thanked in the credits of Mer De Noms, APC's first album but he never sang for them that i'm aware of :peace:

Billy was Pro Tools engineer/Tech for CD from 1997 to 1999, he wrote some songs in 96 and show them to Maynard.. they decided that whwn they had time they will make a group
Josh Freese was working with GNR and knew Maynard from a Lollapaloza Tour when he played with DEVO and Tool was there.. then Maynard told Billy why dont they used josh for the tracks..
when they had the chance they quit GNR and started the new project

btw..
Billy was guitar tech from NIN... so he was Robins Tech
 

There are some tiny connections between the bands. But i dont think Axl ever sang with APC. There is a possability
that Billy and Axl have recorded something together, that is not GnR matereal. But we dont know anything about that for sure.

I remember Maynard said in a interview a couple of years ago, that Axl was mad at him because he went away with Billy. But if that is true, or just
a joke, i dont know! We all know that Chris Pitman is a good friend with the Tool boys, and have recorded with Tool. Billy from APC worked with GnR, and so did Josh Freese. I belive Josh plays drums for Trent Reznor now. So there are some tiny connections between Tool, GnR, NiN, and Apc. But nothing more then some members have worked with eachother.

Btw. Tool is the best band on the earth : ok: Share the throne with GnR  :peace:

i really dont believe axl ever sang with apc, would be pretty interesting though.

Personally, I think if Axl had sang with APC, it would be more well-known by now, especially around these parts.

Actually, I've heard that a few times over the years - that Josh wrote the riff for CD, not sure how much truth there is to it though.

APC is a great band, I love their first album.

It defintely has a different vibe from the other leaks.  I dont know if it has a similar feel to APC b/c I've never heard any songs by them  :-[

I agree that CD has a different vibe compared to the other leaks - more of a traditional, straightforward rock song - but to me, it doesn't sound much like an APC song, either. 

Interesting. Freese would've been the last guy I would've suspected.

I think the track has a little Joy Division influence going on. They were a wicked punk band back in the early '70s.

It's definately the most "punk" influenced of the new tracks we already have heard in my opinion.

Wasn't the story that Axl was taking so long to get anything done during the late '90s sessions that Howerdel managed to write Mer De Noms in his spare time? Presumably he poached Josh Freese when he jumped ship from GN'R...

Actually I remember this rumor when APC was recording.  But from what I remember, Axl was only going to swing by for some harmonies or BG vocals.  Kinda of like what he did on the Don Henley album.

It's possible he laid down some early tracks/demos with Billy or Josh that Maynard ended up rerecording.  They do have similar vocal ranges...so that may not be out of the realm of plausibility.

AND...there is a song called "Rose" on Mer de Noms...

That song has nothing to do with Axl Rose. Nothing.

Just looked again into the Booklet of Mer de Noms and also Pitman is thanked there. When did he first join GNR maybe there is a connection too.

pitman was in tool for aenima....and maynard is in tool :peace:

You could connect the two through Pitman.

My friend told me that Passive was originally a song recorded during the late 90's with GN'R, then again, where he got his information from I don't know.

Dunno why people are slagging Tool - yes, they have a distinctive sound, but it's their OWN sound, and if you go back to Opiate -> Undertow -> Aenima -> Lateralus -> 10,000 Days, you see a definite progression in their sound/style.
