Title: Guns N Roses, but where's the rest? Post by: SADIS on December 31, 2006, 08:01:57 AM Something I noticed the last few weeks. BTW Just to make it clear: I love the Guns (in what form, shape whatsoever) and I love Axl. So here I go:
I'm a bit bothered by the fact that I don't see any of the other guys in the promo material. If you go to gunsnroses.com you only see pics of Axl. If you go to their MySpace most of the pictures are of Axl. I mean, Axl wants everyone to take all the guys as legit GnR members. So present them to the public as if they really are GnR! Take a step back and let the other guys show themselves! What do you guys think? I think they could do a better job in making Guns really a group instead of a solo project. Title: Re: Guns N Roses, but where's the rest? Post by: CheapJon on December 31, 2006, 08:08:21 AM the general public has kinda only heard of axl, the other members are completely unknown and if you check out a band called guns n roses you expect some of the most famous musicians in the world would be in that band, but if you see frank and BBF that might scare them away or something, i think that the "only pics on axl" strategy will disappear when CD is released and the other guys are more known by the public

Yes, Axl is the one that is represented most but he is the one who is recongized most. Title: Re: Guns N Roses, but where's the rest? Post by: Mauve_All on December 31, 2006, 09:24:25 AM I would also like the rest of the band to come more to the spotlight. It may happen after the release of the album, though.

So I don't see the point really! well in that article del was talkin' about frank and bbf among others and showing pics in a way that maybe people would get more formiliar (if that's the right word) with them Title: Re: Guns N Roses, but where's the rest? Post by: The Legend on December 31, 2006, 06:31:24 PM The problem is, the Del James article had a certain bit about a minority of fans, who needed to be called out for years, and it disturbed a hornet's nest. Instead of keeping the band stuff, the whole article was yanked.
The band stuff was great. It really showed the side of the 'majority' of Guns N' Roses. I love those guys, and want to hear more about them, other than Axl, as much as I love him too. The thing is, they are going to have to ease the casual fan away from Axl, and onto the other guys, or otherwise people are going to be lost. Other than Dizzy & Robin, most have no idea who the rest are, even though guys like Tommy were in The Replacements. Title: Re: Guns N Roses, but where's the rest? I tend to agree with you, though if they did photoshoots every time the lineup changed, the publicity would have cost as much as making the album! I'm sure they'll do something "official" closer to the release date. Title: Re: Guns N Roses, but where's the rest? Post by: Amanda. on January 01, 2007, 10:54:51 AM good point there. And why do they put posters only of 'old guns n' roses' to magazines, when there is only axl from the original lineup? okay, they might haven't got any pictures of the new lineup, but what's the point to put posters of old guns either? okay, okay. collectors and other fans ask's that but still... Could put them both. ::) 8)
Title: Re: Guns N Roses, but where's the rest? Post by: bazgnr on January 01, 2007, 11:38:09 AM As soon as new music is officially released - single, album, etc. - I'm sure you will see the new band alongside Axl. Granted, much of the pics and articles will obviously focus on Axl, but the other members will get their turn in the spotlight as well. There have been so many false starts over the years that the music must come first, and *then* the new band will be properly announced to the world (through the press, in particular).

Could put them both.? ::) 8) Because the publicity train hasn't been started yet for GN'R. I'm sure George Chin as amassed tons of photos that will be used as marketing tools, as well as publicity phots. Just like that Italian magazine article. You'll eventually start seeing stuff like that in the states. Imo, that one shot of Axl with a suit on smoking a cigar in dark lighting looking at the camera would be a great picture of him for an article in like People magazine or something like that.
