Dave Grohl = Foo Fighters & Nirvana.

See the '92 VMAs for reasons they didn't get along.

I think the Foo Fighters, and more importantly Dave Grohl, are great, original. The only common denominator to GnR is Nirvana, so it shouldn't be an issue.

Dave Grohl: " I think it was Lemmy(from Motorhead) who said, 'We wanna be the band that, if we moved in next door to you, your lawn would die'" ?

The only connection I can think of is that Joshua Homme is in both Eagles and Queens Of The Stone Age....and, of course, Dave Grohl has done some work with QOTSA

Um, in answer to what the poster of this thread I think is asking, Dave Grohl played drums on the Queens of the Stone Age album Songs for the Deaf, and Josh Homme who is also in Queens is in EODM too. So maybe there's a connection there, but um... not really... ?  ??? ;D

There is no connection...end of thread.

Dave was the drummer for Nirvana... Axl hated Curt for being an asshole... Dave was an immature idiot at that time... Curt killed himself... GNR broke up leaving just Axl... Dave picked up a guitar and decided to sing... surprise, his songs were good... but not great... Dave was friends with this Jesse dude who had a band.... they were the Queens of the Stone Age... Dave decided to help Jesse and put his band on the map... and played drums on a track that became a hit single for the Queens... Meanwhile Axl was on a mission from God... reforming the band... Jesse was a complete idiot and decided that he was going to start another band with extremely poor musicians... They called it Eagles of Death Metal... It happens that Jesse's fame from the Queens drew attention to the band... By the luck of the Lotto, they got on tour with GNR... GNR and Axl are on the midst of a huge resurgence... EODM came on stage and they couldnt play a lick... The crowd gets pissed... Jesse's ego is hurt and storms off stage... Axl gets pissed because Jesse didnt handle himself correctly and fulfill his duties...  Axl publicly informs the crowd that they will not have to deal with such unprofessionals at future shows... and coined the term Pigeons of Shit Metal...   Jesses ego is hurt and comes up with incoherent defenses for himself and attempts to cut down Axl... Jesse tries causing more trouble by linking the incident to Dave referring to Curt... Axl takes the high road and refuses to piss on the electric fence like Jesse has been doing and ruining his future like Jesse did with EODM and the Queens of the Stone Age...

Dave Grohl didn't put QOTSA on the map... They (Nick Oliveri (sp?) and Josh Homme) had already done that with the Rated R album and their history in the mighty Kyuss. Then Dave came in to play on an album.

To my knowledge, Jesse Hughes was never in QOTSA (certianly not as a major contributor like Homme and Oliveri). He was friends with Homme, however, who helped Jesse form EODM... Homme doesn't tend to tour with them though and no idea if there is a direct EODM/Foo Fighters link musically, but I read somewhere Dave and Jesse were friends.

Which is the sad fact of it all. Who freakin' cares about a GNR & Nirvana feud in 2000 fuckin' 6?!?!

Good god some people need to move on.

The Nirvana GNR feud stemmed from Kurt not wanting to open for GNR (Axl had wanted them to-remember the Nirvana hat he wore in the making of Don't Cry)-Kurt was just not a GNR fan and made it known-hence the VMA's-the situation backstage, maybe too long to get into here-Dave Grohl did the infamous "hey Axl, Hi Axl" after Nirvana's performance-what's funny is Kurt Loder's review of Rock in Rio 2001-I'm not sure if it's in there, or Rolling Stone's coverage, where Dave Grohl is jumping up and down when WTTJ is starting, saying he can't believe he is seeing GNR-I'm not sure if he was doing this tounge and cheek, or whether he was anxious to see them-Grohl is a huge Led Zepplin fan, and probably liked GNR more than Kurt or Krist in Nirvana-Axl might still hold a lot of this against Dave Grohl, not sure-not that this has anything to do with this, but one of the last people to see Kurt alive may have been Duff, who was on a flight with Kurt back to Seattle in April 1994-they talked on the flight-(Duff had just gotten clean)-Duff turned around in the airport to offer Kurt a ride, Kurt was gone-Slash has also said he thought Nirvana was brilliant-it's been kind of an interesting history between the 2 bands-Nirvana hit really big, I don't think at the time it would have made sense for them to open up for GNR-the Foo Fighters are a great band live, it would be a great double bill today, but not sure if the bad blood still would exist between Grohl and Axl-I think Grohl seems like an easy guy to get along with, but not sure how Axl feels.  Courtney Love also stated in the late 90's that we need another Guns n Roses to come along-bad remarks between the 2 camps, but at the same time respect-you have to remember in '92 GNR were seen as a band of excess, whereas Nirvana wanted nothing to do with that-the backup singers, big videos, dating models, were king of mocked by alternative-not saying they weren't hypocrites, because eventually a lot of them started doing that. Oh well

Except Jesse isn't in QOTSA.

And the foo fighters are good friends with Brian May and Roger Taylor of Queen
