I just have one request of the marketing team...give the media outlets new pics!  This band has performed in front of almost a million people in 2006.  If I see one more pic from half a decade ago I'll get damn pissed!  Do they use old pics to spite the new band, or is it because they don't have the cool new ones to use???  This band sounds incredible and looks very cool.

  :peace:

They use old ones because they wouldn't know where to get recent ones from.  They would also have to pay for the use of official ones.

^Get out of here. There's someone in every half-decent stateside media outlet who knows Getty Images.

Too lazy is a more feasible excuse.

True, but I was under the impressiom that they would still have to pay to use them.  I may be wrong though.

So far it sounds more like a buzz than a proper marketing machine. When the marketing blitzkrieg is unleashed upon us we'll know the difference.  ;D

If they use Getty Images or any of the other commercial photography services, then they have to pay regardless of how old the picture is. Usually the bands management will release promotional photos to use free of charge, though. Maybe many of these papers still have the old Geffen photos on file and just haven't received any recent ones.

But does the band have management to release such photos?  I'm sure this'll be resolved over the next month or so, what with the tentative release date.

Great point indeed!  I am computer-illiterate.  I've had that avatar for years!   :hihi:  I'll look around for a newer one tonight.   ;)

Seriously, if money's the issue, have the band pay for the use of the great new pics.  In the long-run it's worth it...or we could take up a collection for the band here at HTGTH.   ;D

Maybe Axl should formally introduce the new band to the public at large, not as an aside on a web-site.  That means a large media outlet, such as MTV or Rolling Stone, etc.

My guess is that they'd be waiting until an album's ready to come out.  If you announce the band well before the album without new studio music, the masses would not dig it.  You get a couple catchy singles out there getting air-play, then you're ready.

I'm just suggesting offering media outlets updated professional pics.  Then again, I'll let the marketing folks do their jobs.  Axl and the band have done or are close to doing what they needed to do, and that's get the album finished.  The record company will probably call the shots when it comes to promotion.  I'll support the band no matter what.  It'll be interesting to see what the hell happens in the next few months.

I can't wait for the next concert dammit!!!   :crying:  Please come back to the east coast this Spring!!!
