Title: Guns N' Roses Album Release Date? @ queenonline.com Post by: Robman? on December 18, 2006, 02:17:25 PM GNR ALBUM RELEASE DATE?
Axl Rose has released a statement over the weekend claiming that the new Guns N' Roses album, 'Chinese Democracy', will be released on March 6th 2007. Brian May of course attended recording sessions in 1998 and was heard on the leaked tracks 'Catcher In The Rye' and 'There Was A Time' earlier this year. Axl has also previously commented that some the new material has a Queen feel to it. also TWAT has buckethead on it, and i know May wasn't in the band when Bucket was. Title: Re: Guns N' Roses Album Release Date? @ queenonline.com Post by: 1badapple on December 18, 2006, 07:35:57 PM There is a 99 version of TWAT and IRS. Brian May was never actually in the band. He came in and laid down some stuff for Axl when Robin left and Axl had decided he didn't want to use what Robin had recorded. I used to have that interview with Brian May in my favorites, but a couple of months ago my comp crashed and i lost everything.
Title: Re: Guns N' Roses Album Release Date? @ queenonline.com Post by: Mr.Intensity on December 18, 2006, 07:51:44 PM Brian May could have laid parts for There Was a Time as well, there are 3 different versions of it.... it would be cool if we could get some kind of confirmation. : ok:
Title: Re: Guns N' Roses Album Release Date? @ queenonline.com Post by: Voodoochild on December 18, 2006, 09:17:51 PM There's no Brian May on the TWAT versions we have, I'm 100% sure. I can regonize his sound and Robin's and Bucket's too.

Well theres the '99 version without any shredding and just Robin (I think...but he wasn't actually in the band at this time(?)) Then theres the two 2002/03 versions, one with the extended solo and one without. Title: Re: Guns N' Roses Album Release Date? @ queenonline.com Post by: Mr. Dick Purple on December 19, 2006, 11:19:05 AM Well if may was involved with guns in 99, Im not saying this is true just in case, but theres also a posibility that the blues have some May's influence, I mean the solo the first time I heard it I thought hey that sounds like Brian May ;)
Once again Im not saying this happen but that the solo has a Brian May vibe, period. Title: Re: Guns N' Roses Album Release Date? @ queenonline.com Post by: Calcy on December 19, 2006, 01:52:50 PM I'm surprised that queenonline could've put that online. Brian May did confirm that he was on CITR, and you have to assume that he would have received all the leaked demos at the same time, so could've commented on TWAT too.
Apparently Axl did ask BM to be in the new incarnation of GN'R in the 90s but BM didn't want the hassle of touring most of the year again. And I'm sure his friendship with Axl may have become strained with late starts etc. Title: Re: Guns N' Roses Album Release Date? @ queenonline.com Post by: madagas on December 19, 2006, 01:55:43 PM I'll bet every last cent I have that Brian May is not on Chinese Democracy...I don't think he will even be on CITR when it is finalized. :-\

I am sure Brian May knows more about his presence on the album than you would, right? Not necessarily. When Robin left the band he was under the impression that none of the songs had vocals on them, but then just a couple months later Rolling Stone did that interview with Axl and the reporter got to hear a bunch of demos, and they had vocals- except for a couple of songs. I think Axl is really the only one that knows who's parts will be used. I'd like to hear the version of CITR with Robin's guitar work, just to hear the difference between the 2 versions. Yeah I agree, I thought the same thing when I first heard the solo too! Very May-ish! |
