Why im not sure, i think it makes him sound older and not trendy. Imagine if Weiland had said "Hi everyone im Uncle Scott" at a VR show, but rarely saying anything else about himself, and without Axl ever using it. I dont think it would work. So i am not sure why Axl does it.
