Title: Here is something that makes me mad! Post by: slashsbaconpit on December 15, 2006, 12:57:34 PM I get so FUCKING tired of people taking the attitude that the only real Guns fans are the ones who go to multiple shows. I'm sorry, but I don't care how great the show is, I don't have $60-$100 to spend over and over again to see basically the same set list. I'll probably drop by one show on this tour, and maybe one on the next if the setlist changes significantly.
There are a lot of people that simply can't afford to pay for tickets and travel to shows, but they can afford a CD. But a number of people get down on these fans cuz they want Chinese Democracy, but don't go to the shows. They say the only real fans are those who attend the concerts. Well, here's a newsflash ? the people who buy the albums are fans too. The albums are what create the lasting legacy of a band, not the shows. Title: Re: Here is something that makes me mad! I have been a fan since day 1 and have been to over 20 gigs but I have a mate who has been just as big a fan as me over that time and has only been to see the band twice for one reason or another! Post by: nightrain_jh on December 18, 2006, 02:59:37 AM i have loved all incarnations of the band. i have been a fan since i was 14 and "appetite.............." was released and am still a huge fan now. i have only seen gn'r live twice. once at donnington in '88 and in july this year in manchester, uk. all i pretty much listen is gn'r whether it be one of their studi albums or a bootleg. i have collected a good bit of memorabilia over the years, whether it be posters, t-shirts, concert flyer, bandana's (one of which i actually found on a street stall in a place called sa come in majorca), books, magazines and whatever else i have. no-one could honestly call me for not being a real fan of gn'r. i have loved the band for near on 20 years whether it be the original or the new. anyone who says you can't, i am sure that most people on here will not agree.

Nope. I think Robin, Bumblefoot and Stinson are awesome ? all great muscians who don't need GNR. The fact that they are involved in GNR is part of what has me so excited for the album. Axl isn't Guns N'Roses, sorry to tell you that, there is a BAND involved too. Lucky for me I adore both old and new lineups. ;D

I agree, though I haven't encountered many who think this way. I've been to one GNR show in my whole life. I tried to go when I was in middle school and they toured with Metallica and Faith No More...but I wasn't allowed because of the riots. I would have gone in 2002, had it made it anywhere near me...but it didn't. Last month's Chicago show was my first opportunity to see them live...and I still drove 150 miles for the show. Driving hundreds of miles to see a show makes you a real fan, in my opinion, and fuck anyone who disagrees. If you drive (or fly) to more shows, that's great, too. It doesn't make you a bigger or better fan. It makes you a fan who has more $$$ or time or both. You are not a GNR fan if you dont like GNR now. Plain and simple. Sorry, but this is ridiculous. What if you have absolutely NOTHING against Axl reforming the band and using the GNR name, but you just don't like the new music? If you love Aerosmith, but don't find "Just Push Play" to be the masterpiece some of their earlier recordings are, does that mean you're not a fan? Of course not.
