Title: Cats In The Cradle And The Silver Spoon
Post by: Demon Wolf on December 10, 2006, 12:41:02 PM
Alright, can somebody please explain what the deal is with this song? I borrowed it from Limewire, it says it's Guns N' Roses but it sure doesn't sound anything like Axl Rose.

When was it recorded? Put out on any album?

It's not Axl, it's "Ugly Kid Joe", thats Limewire for you, nothing but fake spam.

Wasn't that the song that was done by "Harry Chapin" I believe back in the mid to late 70's, about time passing by so quick, and you don't realize it until your kids are all grown, and then you realized everything you had missed out on cause you didn't make the time when you should have.

naah it doesn't...

wierd that this wasn't among the FAQ 'cuz many think this is a gn'r song and many peeps have asked about it, so it's strange that you can't find anything with the searching engine ???

It has quite a catchy melody, but somehow the song makes me feel uneasy and anxious when I hear it. Don't ask me why, but it gives me the creeps.

It's not about realizing time has passed, it's just about a guy who didn't spend time with his kid, and it come's back on him when he gets old.  He wants his kid to come see him, but now his kid is just like he used to be.  Too busy to make time for the ones he loves.

"My boy was just like me..."

I like the song.  :)

limewire is complete and utter PAP!!!  You think getting cats in the cradle was bad.  i tried being clever trying to download a track called "herods song" which was apparently axl and meatloaf.  bollocks!!!!!!  some pile of shite choir singing the song.  limewire is very unreliable for many of the tracks you think you are getting on there.  plus you try all the other gn'r tracks they reckon are on there like "prostitue" and "cock-a-roach soup" and all you get is an instrumental pile of shite.  best to stay away from it in my opinion

Limewire is great for downloading songs you know exist. If your dumb enough to download Cock-a-roach-soup by Guns N'Roses, expecting it to be a real song, then yes, you should stay away.

i have been told.  thank you.

wasn't being arsey or anything it's just that it seems to happen on a lot of songs, even the legit ones.  at times i have even downloaded a legit song but ended up with what sounds like a radio ad.  and i also have had plenty of good stuff i have not had anywhere before.  i know i am contradicting what i say.  just getting on my high horse a little and apologies for that.

Yes, I remember when this song was popular in the mid 90's.  It was not GNR, but my question is, did GNR ever cover it, perhaps at a show?
