Title: Surprise tour a possibility??? Post by: phi_kai_phi on December 04, 2006, 10:02:49 PM Alright,.... so after the album is released, then the band's obvious move would be to tour while the songs are hot on the radio and to create more of a buzz for the album.
However.... after these north american dates are over then there doesn't look to be any more tour dates available either. Even if the album is a surprise release.... wouldn't there be a tour right after or around it sometime? Since there arn't any dates listed now.... is it possible that they'd drop a tour on short notice? Where would it be? OR does this look like a sign that although CD may be done?... they may wait until summer or later to release CD and schedule a new tour. Title: Re: Surprise tour a possibility??? Post by: phi_kai_phi on December 04, 2006, 10:05:08 PM also... has gnr or any big band NOT toured after releasing a big album?
Title: Re: Surprise tour a possibility??? Post by: ben9785 on December 04, 2006, 10:07:22 PM My understanding was that there would be an announcement for the next part of the tour by the end of the year, which may include an update on the album (if it's not released by then). I think there are dates though going through January 2007 at least; so providing everything is good, they'll keep going on the tour, ultimately through the album's release
I don't know about 'big albums' exactly, but sure there have been a few bands who haven't gone on tour imediately following, or on schedule with, the release of a new album, I think the latest Audioslave album, they didn't go on a tour behind that, they had other commitments at the time of release I hope that answered your question Title: Re: Surprise tour a possibility??? If they give people at least a month notice then we would have to hear from them by the end of the month if the north american tour continued. Title: Re: Surprise tour a possibility??? Post by: ben9785 on December 04, 2006, 10:14:52 PM It's a bit hard to say.. they're calling this the "Chinese Democracy" world tour, which theoretically would mean it is the tour supporting/promoting the new album.. unless that is just a name for their tour and is not necessarily going to be the name of the new album.. We'll have to wait and see the announcement.. who knows
I just checked the official GNR website, gunsnroses.com.. they have dates at this time going through mid-late january 01.16.07 San Diego California USA ipayOne Center That's the last date listed at this time http://web.gunsnroses.com/tour/index.jsp So at some point, most likely before the end of the year they're announce plans following 1/16/07 Title: Re: Surprise tour a possibility??? Post by: freedom78 on December 04, 2006, 10:21:52 PM What's currently going on is described as the "first leg" of the tour...so I'm not sure how much it would be a surprise, rather than another leg, with dates announced once they're finalized.
Title: Re: Surprise tour a possibility??? Post by: Malcolm on December 04, 2006, 10:34:36 PM I have a feeling that they will finish this tour up and announce a release date around the last few shows or the enxt month and do some tv appearences and a tour maybe in australia and some other places and then come back to North American in the summer
Title: Re: Surprise tour a possibility??? Post by: Billo on December 05, 2006, 03:56:37 AM I dont really think so..Didnt they call there 2002 tour the CD tour?? :peace:

Title: Re: Surprise tour a possibility??? Post by: KaptainKuntra on December 05, 2006, 07:33:04 AM I think the only 'suprise' this year will be another year of no CD. :(
Title: Re: Surprise tour a possibility??? Post by: sic. on December 05, 2006, 07:34:42 AM Ross Halfin says there will be a European Summertour with Aerosmith and Van Halen. Huh???? Have I missed something? December 3 I heard the tour around Europe next summer is Aerosmith, Van Halen and Guns N' Roses - still promoting Chinese Takeaway. I hear you get free chow mein with every ticket and if you buy two tickets you get the special for three or four persons - really, this is true and it's honoured at every Chinese in every city they play... - The infamous Halfin diaries (http://www.rosshalfin.co.uk/diary/december-2006/diary-december-2006.php) Might be another pisstake, knowing Halfin. Time will tell. Title: Re: Surprise tour a possibility??? Post by: KaptainKuntra on December 05, 2006, 07:36:50 AM Unless he means 3 separate tours, I cant imagine GnR touring with Van Halen.

Time will tell. Yeah, he's making fun of them, so i don't think that's serious. Though i would love to see Axl share a stage with Tyler again, and Aerosmith will probably have a new album next summer. Title: Re: Surprise tour a possibility??? Post by: KaptainKuntra on December 05, 2006, 07:51:22 AM Yeah I've heard Van Halen are reforming with Dave Lee Roth and Eddie's son playing bass as well, but they don't normally come to Europe.
Title: Re: Surprise tour a possibility??? Post by: mikesc on December 05, 2006, 08:17:53 AM Merck allready said in an interview that they will be back in Germany next summer, so they probably gonna tour Europe again.
Also Aerosmith have said some time ago that they "will hit a bunch of major festivals in Europe" next year. Title: Re: Surprise tour a possibility??? Post by: jarmo on December 05, 2006, 08:18:13 AM There's that rescheduled Nashville show that hasn't been announced yet.
I guess it'll take place after San Diego. /jarmo Title: Re: Surprise tour a possibility??? Post by: Lucky on December 05, 2006, 08:27:57 AM I can imagine a suprise tour already....
I can already see the press release: "Last night we held a surprise concert at new york city. SUPRISE! Surprisingly the arena was empty..." Title: Re: Surprise tour a possibility??? Post by: Layne Staley's Sunglasses on December 05, 2006, 09:04:11 PM It can work at small venues....
Title: Re: Surprise tour a possibility??? Post by: phi_kai_phi on December 05, 2006, 09:07:01 PM Hey if CD dropped on us and singles hit the charts and the media went on about how "chinese democracy finally came out!".... then a tour on short notice could have a very good chance at standing up.
EDIT: In addition, I think there has to be a tour after the album drops so this is one way it could happen. Maybe not like a day's notice, but two weeks or sooner could catch on quickly especially since some venues sold very well within the first few hours of going on sale. Title: Re: Surprise tour a possibility??? Post by: TAP on December 05, 2006, 09:22:38 PM How would a surprise tour work? Not tell anyone where a show is going to be until the day of? You would walk into your local arena one Tuesday and GNR would be playing. Title: Re: Surprise tour a possibility???
