Just a game. Not real guitar. Fun as hell though. You'd enjoy it.

Im about 20 songs into expert.. starting to get too hard..

Freebird is fairly easy on Hard, but significantly harder on expert. Also, Jordan (bonus song) by Buckethead is fairly easy on hard, but almost impossible on expert. I can beat all songs on expert on Guitar Hero II except for Jordan.

I have guitar hero 1.

I've beat it on Easy, Medium, and Hard.   Still working on Expert (I've only had it a few months...and my time to play is limited).  Long layoffs, I find, mean I have to replay the game on Hard to get my timing back to even attempt new songs on Expert.

I'm hoping GH2 is in my stocking come X-mas.

:)

Guitar Hero has 5 buttons. I believe that Guitar Freaks has 3 button (Is that correct?).

How do you play this game? I seen the guitar has like 5 colored buttons on the neck of the guitar, and a few buttons down on the body of the guitar. Do you have to follow on screen instructions or something like that?

Title: Re: Guitar Hero
Post by: judaskennedy on December 06, 2006, 07:12:10 AM
yea,? you have to press the buttons and move the switch up and down like your playin a guitar- the color notes appear on the screen as you should press them...? then the whammy bar is there to make cool effects...? it goes? wAAwaaAAAWAAaaa-? ?i got all into this game once and i smashed the controller when i was done playing - cobain style i even kicked over my tv

Similar concept, better execution (IMHO) because, lets face it, it's a freaking guitar and not a pad you have to jump around on. :)

I can't touch expert.  It's just too fast for me to keep up on.

I'm working my way through 5 starring Hard (just did SCOM the other day) now...  Once I get the whole level 5 starred, I'll see if I can spend some  more time with expert and see if I can do it.

Personally, my advice would be this...

If you can do Hard with 5 stars on every song, then Expert is easy as pie.

I beat Expert once... my game got erased.. I was fed up with it for awhile... chose to do hard mode with 5 stars only. Then went back and did Expert.

Expert was much easier the second time through.

Getting 5 stars on hard will build your skills up quite alot.

Title: Re: Guitar Hero
Post by: pilferk on January 02, 2007, 09:39:33 AM
I'm hoping thats the case.

With hard, I got to the point where I could make a quick mistake and catch right back up (this is before my current "5 star" project).

With expert, one mistake and it's pretty much over for me.  It's just too fast (right now) for me to catch up.  I'm sure with some more, and some continuous, time on that mode it'll get better.  But right now, I'm lucky if I can get through the early songs, on expert, at all.  Expert seems SOOO much harder than hard, to me.....much harder than the jump from medium to hard.

i mangaged to get 11 songs 5 stars on medium and i got 8 with 3 stars...the rest are 4 stars

No, you miss the point.

I've been playing "for real" since I was about 12 - 13 years old...so coming up on 20 years.

I still enjoy GH and GH2.  It's a very different mechaninc.....

I agree...it's a great limbering excersize and it'll get you used to some basic stretches and slides (hard and up).

But the overall mechanics, obviously, are very different.

I'm trying to work on 5 starring the "Furious Fretwork" songs on Hard.  That's where I hit my first wall, on medium, too...those songs just kick my ass the first few times I play them.  It's a big jump in speed from the previous sections and they've been the only songs I really needed to use the "practice" feature on to slow them down, learn them, and then pump them back up to normal speed.

If you think the jump from medium to hard is tough...wait til you jump from hard to expert.  I think that difference is MUCH bigger.

Title: Re: Guitar Hero
Post by: Neemo on January 24, 2007, 08:59:04 AM
yeah those last 2 groups of song are a bitch :hihi:

i used the practice feature to get by them on medium...but going to hard i had to do training for Wolfmother  i still couldnt do the damn thing on the slowest setting....that fuckign hammeron-pulloff solo

anyway i managed to get full star power before the solo and just ride it out til the end of the song...i'm hoping as i get farther down the list i'll be able to go back and beat the songs with some skill :hihi:
