I merged all these Eagles Of Death Metal threads together.

Please use this one for discussion and any future articles, as we don't need more than one thread for this.

I can say that the guy that drums for EODM on their albums (Josh Homme) has put out more good records (Kyuss/QOTSA) than Axl has since '93. So saying that there's no talent in the band is kind of a blind assumption. I'm not sure if Josh goes out on tour with them or not though. That being said EODM is lame. But Josh however is quite talented.

I don't know one single song from this band, but I have to admit what Axl said is funny. He always cracks me up : ok:

josh is talented, QOTSA are good, but i dont think he tours with them all the time - and not on this tour (not 100% though).  FAir enough though, if the general consensus was they are shit, then there's no need for them to bring down the atmos.

It's not a blind assumption when I've seen EODM twice (as support acts) and heard their first album. I've also seen QOTSA and heard about three of their albums too. So, it's an opinion. And Josh Homme is, in my opinion, a lousy drummer.

Axl Update: Eagles of Death Metal Strike Back!
Earlier today, we told you how Eagles of Death Metal got booted from their opening slot on the Guns N? Roses tour after just one gig, with GNR fans booing them roundly and Axl calling them ?Pigeons of Shit Metal? during his set. Well, the Eagles have responded: ?At first the audience refused to welcome us to the jungle, but by the time we took our final bow, it had become paradise city. Although Axl tried to November rain on our parade, no sweet child o? mine can derail the EODM night train. We say live and let die.?

While the Eagles? rebuttal may be just as silly as Axl?s diss, big ups to them for not dipping so low as to mention Axl?s hideous cornrows, shaky voice, or how, you know, GNR?s new album has been delayed longer than the return of Christ.

The Eagles of Death Metal probably hadn't gotten the mustache wax unpacked from their suitcases before their maiden voyage on the S.S. Axl Rose hit an iceberg Friday. On the first night of what was supposed to be a three-week stint opening up for Guns N' Roses, the band was unceremoniously dumped from the bill after a chilly reception from the audience at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland.

Following a well-received set by tour opener Sebastian Bach, the Eagles took the stage and, according to John Soeder, pop critic for the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the band was met with "not deafening boos, but lots of grumbling and grousing and ... indifference."

While a handful of people were dancing along to the Eagles' good-time, sleazy garage rock, Soeder said it appeared as if the majority of the audience was not into it and was even a bit confused by the group, which features Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Homme on drums, who isn't currently touring with the band.

After a two-hour wait for the headliners, Rose came out and promptly dissed the Eagles, asking the audience, "So how'd you like the Pigeons of Sh-- Metal? Don't worry, that's the last show they're playing with us." And, just like that, the Eagles were tossed out of the nest.

The Eagles took the Rose kiss-off with their usual fistful of salt. "At first the audience refused to welcome us to the jungle, but by the time we took our final bow, it had become paradise city," reads a statement from the band released on Monday (November 27). "Although Axl tried to November rain on our parade, no sweet child o' mine can derail the EODM night train. We say live and let die."

"My impression was, and I don't want to belittle the GN'R fans, but they didn't really get the inside-joke quality of the Eagles ... or the facial hair," said Soeder of the handlebar-mustache look sported by Eagles singer Jesse "The Devil" Hughes.

"Axl seemed like he was in a bad mood," said fan Nate Harris, who attended the show. "One of the first things he did was kick out someone who was in one of the first few rows during the opening song. He came back to the 'Pigeons of Sh-- Metal' bit all set long." Harris said Rose also turned the sound man into a target, repeatedly glaring at him, and at one point calling him "useless."

"Sebastian Bach ... they ate up his hair metal hits from the '80s and the new stuff, which sounded like the old stuff," Soeder reported. "But the audience seemed to be confused [during the Eagles' set] as to who the joke was on. They like their metal unironic. Numerous songs slipped into falsetto, and if you're a purist heavy-metal fan, falsetto isn't good."

Harris concurred that the crowd bid the Eagles farewell with "a few boos, some spare applause, but definitely no cheering," and added that Axl concluded the night with a graceful thank you to the crowd for bearing with his bad day.

A spokesperson for Guns N' Roses did not return calls for comment and no announcement had been made at press time as to who will replace the Eagles (see "Guns N' Roses Hint At Democracy's Arrival, Add Tour Dates").

Opening for Axl is a promising platform for a band prominently featuring distored guitars, give or take a riot or two. I am not a Nirvana fans myself and I think they were overrated BUT!  Calling them a shitty band is going overboard in my opinion.  After all they revolutionized music wether we like it or not.  On a side note I've always preferred Pearl Jam over Nirvana therefore I credit them more.

How exactly did Nirvana revolutionize music?

Rock music hasn't been revolutionized since....maybe the 70s?

A Universal rep sent me a link to this same story through Yahoo and in that version I claimed the Eagles "quit" the tour after one day.

The same rep mentioned she thought Axl was an ass and maybe he was jealous of the Eagles sounding better then GNR.

Naturally I wrote an explination back to her saying that you can't quit a tour you've already been kicked off of and that not on this or any other planet would Axl be jealous of those guys.

Was he jealous of the pigeons getting boos and wtf from the crowd? Of their playing the type of music very different from GNRs? Now the mentality would be beyond my why. :hihi:

About the course of events, maybe they quit and got kicked out at the same time. that might have happened while sg were performing on stage before GNR. Just a thought.

I was looking at old threads on this site and found one with a link to MTV.com yesterday. And while I was reading the article a video on the side appeared and it was talking about how GNR fired Eagles of Death Metal from opening up GNR. I just thought I might mention this beacuse really its not very important news but it could be the start of MTV promoting Chinese Democracy and that means Chinese Democracy could be out soon.

                Its such a funny story. They got kicked off a tour their 1st night because the fans thought they sucked. It must suck opening for G'n'R since I remember " Bullet My Valentine " was also met with some fans not caring for them when they opened the NYC shows in May.

holy shit, Bfmv was LITTERALLY the worst band i have ever heard in my life.  That opening set was like torture. 

The term "Silence" is golden was given new life once I heard BFMW for the very first time....

Haven't these lame fucks had enough free publicity now?
