That kills me that the Chicago date is on a Monday.  Chicago was one of the only sell outs for there last tour in the U.S.  Why would they put the show on a Monday? 

some dates, even in major markets have to fall on "odd" days.  It's all subject to the tour schedule and the arena's availablity.

yeah, you have to bare in mind alot of these arenas have permanent sports team tenants whose dates are non-negotiable.

Yep I remember lots of people watching the Bears on Monday Night Football while waiting for Guns to hit the stage.

Me and 1 of my friends will be there.  This will be concert #3 for us.  Las Vegas 2001, Moline 2002, and Chicago 2006.  Just wish Guns would come back to St. Louis.

New York fans are getting together at a pre-planned place before the show. Why not us? There are dozens of places in Rosement to meet - especially bars! Any body have any suggestions? I'll post some later if no one bites.

Last time I saw them was about 15 years ago in Wisconsin where I bought every one in the beer garden beers! I was loaded like a freight train.  :beer:

I forgot to introduce myself. I'm new to this site. A great friend and fellow fan hooked me up. My name is Crazy Cheryl and I'm going to the Guns N Roses show in chicago come hell or high water. I'd love to get together to meet some of the other local fans! Check out my post about finding a place around the Allstate Arena to meet before the show.

I'll party balls to the walls if you care to carry me home. Remember the last concert? I was generously offered a place to stay in Wisconsin because I lost my friends from partying in the beer garden. Nothing like riding in a van with six mulleted dudes and titty posters on the walls of the back of the van!

When are the tickets going on sale and when is the pre-sale?  I was at 2002 and everyone went to Shoeless Joe's on the other side of the expressway.  I think it is in a Best Western Hotel or something.  The Bears were playing St. Louis on Monday Night Football that night and it was a cool crowd in the place.  Bears fans meet GNR fans!  Very cool.  Nobody gave a shit that it took Axl until 11pm to go onstage because everyone was walking around on the concourse level and watching the bears on the TVs at the concession stands.  Anyone remember that?  It was pretty much a sell out and there were too many police hanging around thinking something bad would happen. 

Fast-foward four years and I live in Atlanta now, but I will be coming up for the show.  I've been to Vegas and NYC this year and plan on going to Tampa also.  This is the best Fall ever.  Do you know where the fuck you are!!!???

We're all in the jungle baby! That's where we are.

Anyhow, Shoeless Joe's seems a great suggestion for the Gunners fans to meet before the show, if it happens. We'll make the place official after the tickets go on sale.

I have registered at every site possible to let me know when tickets go on sale so if it happens and I'm sure everyone is checking everyday, I'll put the word out on the web.

Hey everyone, just wanted to update you guys on the ticket sales. I called the Allstate Arena box office today and apparently the tickets go on sale at 10am on October 13th, this Friday. She also mentioned an internet-only presale starting on the 12th. She didn't know when or where the internet presale but my guess is either through ticketmaster.com or http://web.gunsnroses.com/tour/index.jsp . This will be my first GNR show, and I can't wait to get to the jungle!

Thanks to Rage09 for calling the Allstate Arena box office!!!!!! And thanks for the pre-sale info. I'm sure it will be through ticketmaster since Allstate website leads you to ticketmaster to buy tickets.

I have just confirmed the tickets do go on sale this Friday, October 13th. Take a look at Ticketmaster. They finally have the event posted. The pre-sale is through ticketmaster as well on Thursday October 12. I know if you are a ticket master member signed up for rock, they usually send a pre-sale email with a password. If you're not signed up with an account, sign up today so you can access the pre-sale!

They are directing people through tickets.com which I think is the same as ticketmaster but it doesn't take you to the ticketmaster site. Official sale at ticketmaster is Friday but if you go through this site, you can get tickets right away!!!!!!

I think the floor is general admission. I saw that too. I didn't know which way to go but they had some sections highlighted so I chose the closest section and asked for four tickets and finally got four in 111. I am paying $75 a ticket so I don't think the seating is listed right on that website. I bet GA is the floor and they are assigning seats? Maybe you could call Allstate and ask them to clear it up cause it's not clear on the site.

I get emails from MLB, and they sent me a link for tickets. I got 4 in section 116. I just aint too huge on being on the floor. For one, you cant drink on it, and for two, I hate being shoved and pushed all night

I am with you.  I am going to the Minneapolis and Iowa shows. My buddy who is going with me to the Minneapolis show is also going to this show because his law firm is based in Chicago and he is going to be in town on business at that time.  The kicker, a partner in the firm is a huge GNR fan and she is going with him.  What great way to kiss your boss's ass!!

I am in the bullpen though for this show in case someone can't go.  So maybe I will get three GNR concerts this time around too.

The floor is General Admission. I called Allstate to see. They said no seats on the floor, standing room only. It's gonna be great!!

So, it looks like GA is the floor (pit for moshing) and they are calling the more expensive seats GA as well but you actually get seating. I got seats too because I want to drink my beer, smoke some, and Axl Rose dance my ass off! Last time I was in the pit at one of these shows, my ass was felt up left and right (not that I minded) and I came out with loads of beer spilled on me smelling like I had just run a marathon. Plus, people were just taking joints out of my hand. So, being a little older and wiser, I choose to enjoy the commotion from the stands and decide who I want to share my ganja with.

I bet scalpers already snatched up most of the good tickets thats why the system was only selling ones and twos even in the better sections. Scalpers suck in Chicago. They get everything first. I'm still trying to figure out the link. Being a Sox fan for many years, I was always able to get good tickets except this past year because they won the WS. Unless you had season tickets, scalpers took all of the 100 level tickets and the only thing I could ever get this year was nosebleed upper deck.

For all you fans considering Chicago, consider again. It will be one wild show!  I've got peeps coming from NY to see this show too. Look forward to hooking up with some of you cats for a pre-party. Shoeless Joe's will be the place and I''m thinking around 5 or 6 PM? I'll post the address and stuff by the end of the week. It's right across from Rosemont so this seems to be the best place.

Oh, and it's finally being promoted on the Loop radio station.

Well alright!!!! That's what I'm saying! I will gladly share with my fellow GNR fans! I am in section 111. Row DD. You'll know you're at the right place when you see my ladies and I head banging and singing at the top of our lungs! That's if we have any lung power left but you know how that goes.

I'm trying to get everyone going to the Chicago show that's on this site to meet at Shoeless Joe's before the show. Yes. It is in the hotel you are staying. I'd love to meet the people posting here and party with them!

Whats the problem?

I bought two more through the presale but couldn't get two together in any of the 100 sections. How many tickets did you buy? I wound up taking two on the floor so I could send my husband packing and just party with the ladies.

Do they allow beer on the floor? I have to imagine they do or fans would be beating the piss out of the vendors. I've only been in mosh pits at the Riv and the Brawl Room in which it's a free for all and you slip on your ass more times than someone can drink a beer. I've never experienced a no beer policy.

Also, let me know when people start getting their tickets. NY peeps are having a problem with tickets.com and everyone ordering through ticketmaster got their's first. Some people going to the NY show still haven't got their tickets and I think the show is 11-5 for them. I want to know who I'm going to have to take down if my tickets don't arrive on time.

One more thing. The auction is for tickets for the show. If you bid, you can either get upfront mosh pit or reserved seats in like the first five rows. I guess they are holding the best seats for this auction, then whatever doesn't go will be released through ticketmaster or scalpers.

Damn. Wouldn't I love to be the lucky one to order tickets when they release what isn't sold through the auction? It's timing and luck baby.

I just heard a radio promo on 670 The Score!? It said, "Chinese Democracy World Tour", but they only played old songs (WTTJ, NT, SCOM, NR, PC).? ? :-\

Allstate holds about 12,000 i'd say. the floor could hold around 5,000

hey I was wondering if someone could please help me out. The day GNR tickets went on presale for Chicago I bought 3 of them on gunsnroses.com and it looks like it brought me to tickets.com to buy them so I did buy them and they are for general admission but when I bought them it said general admission seats 252,253,254? Now I'm hearing that the floor isn't seated?! I'm so confused!!! And the other confusing thing is if you buy them off of gunsn'roses.com it doesn't bring you to tickets.com anymore it bring you to ticketmaster. Basically im just hoping that I will be recieveing the right tickets in the mail? ???

You should be good-to-go.  I bought my GA tickets through there (#s 1 & 2  : ok:), so now I'm just waiting for them.  General Admission = no seats.   :beer:

That's exactly right! Almost every GA ticket i've ever had has had a "seat number" on it. It's just to keep track of how many GA tickets have been sold, so they don't oversell- like you mentioned.

I just hope the tickets don't take forever to arrive. Ticketmaster has always been pretty quick. this is the first time i've dealt with Tickets.com, and quite frankly i think some of their policies are garbage.

Looks like the lower level reserved seating is pretty much sold out.  Keep it going Chicago!!

Hey Snakepiter! You're in the pit. GA floor is the pit. They won't put seats on the floor any longer because everyone gets too rowdy! So, anyone who got GA on the floor will basically be in the mosh pit. Although it is usually most rowdy right up in front. I have two floor tickets but I'm sending my ole man down there so I can party with  my girls in the seats and drink beers without someone telling me I can't bring it on the floor and without someone slamming into me and knocking my beer all over. With the price of beer at these venues, you must savor every drop!

Remember - pre-party at Shoeless Joe's at 6 PM before the show! Hope to see all you mf's there!

According to someone who saw Velvet Revolver at the Allstate, they do not allow beer on the floor. I suppose you could call Allstate Arena to verify whether this is the case or not. Yeah. That basically killed my desire to be on the floor. Otherwise I'd be in the heat of the craziness just like everyone else. You could always buy a beer and slam it!

Yep, no beer on the floor.  Unless they have changed it the last tiime I was there but I doubt it.

I'm begining to wonder if I would have been better off buying my tickets from an actual ticket master then I would have them in my hand allready and wouldn't have to worry about tickets.com sending em out  :no:

02 was not sold out. Obstructed view seats were available day-of, but who wants those. Technically, it didn't sell out, but realistically, it did. That was a great show, got an Axl rant, my first Bucket experience and Madagascar live!

Thats a sell out to me!!!  Looks like it could be another sell out this time around too, lower level is all gone. I wonder though, how many more people can you fit on the floor with GA than reserved seating?  Or do they have house rules on how many people can be on the floor regardless if its seated or GA?

Don't worry. I bought four tickets from tickets.com and they were decent seats. I'll be in the same boat as you if I don't get them. And if I don't see anything close to the show, I'm going to raise hell at that place. I will find a way!!!!!

I also bought two from shitketmaster so we'll see which ones get to me first. There are alot of peeps in the same boat as you so hang tight sister. Tickets.com will feel our rath if we don't get to go to the hottest show of the year!

Thanks crazycheryl, I'm just getting worried cuz I sent an email to tickets.com that you can get to through their site and I haven't heard back from them and I registered to their site so I could track it and when I go to check it the page just stays blank.

Did they say what you need to do to claim them at will call? Like bring your confirmation? It's good to know that they have a backup plan but with tickets ordered more than a month in advance, why the hell can't they print them and get them out? It doesn't make sense. They should be printed immediately after and mailed out since they don't give customers a choice.

Do you know if they are part of ticketmaster? Another fear I have is that ticketmaster sold the same seats and even if i go to will call, someone else will be in my seat when I get inside. This would totally be my luck.

I bought tix via tickets.com for the 11/29 Milwaukee show and the confirmation e-mail I received didn't list any seat numbers, only the section and row!? Well, actually it had the seat number for all my tickets as "~".? I e-mailed "Pablo" at tickets.com, and he confirmed the fact that no seat numbers were assigned.? These aren't GA, either.? I was told to take up the issue with venue, in this case, The Bradley Center.? Nice customer service.? So, like you, I'm left wondering if my tickets are even valid and if the seats have been sold twice somehow.? It sure would be nice to have the tickets in hand soon so I could take them to the venue and get some kind of confirmation.? ????

Take the confirmation to the Bradley Center and show them your response and tell them you want to know what the hell seats you have. They should be able to service a sold ticket!!!!!!! That is terrible.

Who the hell contracted tickets.com to sell presale tickets for the Guns shows? Axl's promoter? I'm sure if they knew what was happening to everyone's tickets, they would be pissed. But then again, it's just the money in the pocket for some people.

I am not going to rest easy about this show until those tickets arrive. The customer service person - Iris - told me they would be sent out closer to the event date. I wrote back saying, what the hell you waiting for? The tickets have been paid for and I want them now, not to mention an $11 service fee per ticket!!!!!!!! They can't assign seats, they can't send them out early, well what the hell are we paying $11 extra for????????????????

Someone needs to bust up this ticket monopoly with the extravagant service fees! They know we have no choice so they will keep going higher and higher! When I bought my first concert ticket, there was a shipping fee and that's it. Well, technology should have made their jobs easier so WTF is $11 for?

Bought mine via Ticketmaster via presale and got them in the mail today.

I wanna know why tickets.com wont mail me back ive sent them info on mine to be trackt 3 times and i have heard absolutely nothing back, im afraid my tickets wont come. they have this thing on their site where you register and you can track them yourself and i did that and the page just comes up blank like I didn't buy anything! >:(
to do over again I would have just gotten my tickets from a local ticketmaster then I wouldn't have to freak out my tickets wont come! I did get their little email once I bought the tickets that says "Thank you for your purchase" I hope that means they will show up.   :nervous:

Funny thing is I got better tix then what the gnr site was selling.  I'm sure the allotment they got was not all A+ seats so waiting for the presale through ticketmaster seemed a better choice and from what I am reading I'm glad I waited.

Yeah. I've learned a great lesson man. I will never buy through tickets.com again. I guess all I can do is hope and wait. Although I bought two through ticketmaster as well and I haven't received those either so I guess I'll see who comes through first!

I got the same message from tickets.com when I tried to track my tickets. Although I have been following the NY MSG show and according to tickets.com, they partner with ticketmaster on events and they are waiting for ticketmaster to send them the paper stock to print the tickets to the show. don't ya think they would have thought of this first? Like here's some stock for tickets?  Also, someone called MSG and they said most tickets purchased through tickets.com end up at will call.  So, the MSG show is 11-3 and people still don't have their tickets from tickets.com. Sounds like I am going to be in for a rough November.

I'm gonna be pissed if i paid for shipping and have to end up getting my tickets at will call. I'll be calling their little 800 number and ripping somebody in charge a new asshole.

I think there will be seats......when I saw them in L.A. at the coliseum they had seats I was on the third row away from the stage and right in the middle, security wouldn't let anyone move from their seat or step on the seats, and nobody wanted to risk to get kicked out of the place..

but again...maybe no seats.......

Lucky to have those tickets! I'm sure everyone will be bringing in camera phones and whatever else they can get in! I'm not sure about seats. I guess every place is different. I know when I went to see Black Crowes and ramones at the Riv, they had seats and the concerts turned into a disaster, everyone was standing on the seats and some people got so wild, they were taking the chairs and twirling them over their heads plus people were falling off the fold out chair and some got smashed on the floor. After those shows, they never put seats on the floor again. But those places don't really have seats to begin with so I think they meant well but when people get a few drinks in them and inspired by the music, who knows what can happen?

Also, they say no mosh, but I know people will try, security might just be really tight. Hope you plan on joining us at Shoeless Joe's before the show???????????? Even though the ticket race is on and even if I have to pick up my tickets at will call, you better believe my ass will be there early and heading to Joe's for a cocktail!

There are still some $40 nosebleeds seats available.  Or you could wait until closer to show time to try and get some tickets from a scalper who is just looking to get rid of some tickets.

Check out the first review from the first florida show to get a sample of what is going to go down. They said to expect about 1 1/2 hours waiting for Axl to go on after Bach finishes. And then expect an awesome f***** show! I guess it's common for him to wait to go on. He goes on when he wants. So, build your stamina now in case you have GA and have to stand for the show. Although they had two headliners in Fla so Axl might even take longer to go on at allstate! Great to hear awesome reviews! Makes me even more excited!

Dude - it will be cold so I recommend a warm pullover that you can tie around your waist when you get in. Something easy to connect elsewhere on your body so you won't lose it. Or if you are waiting in line for GA, bring those warmers for hands and crap that you can just throw out. If you guys get good parking you could also designate someone to run back to the car and drop off the jackets and just run your ass back to the car after the show. But if you are drinking, you should stay warm outside no matter what!  :beer:

It has been unusually cold this month so I'm guessing that November will only get worse - especially after thanksgiving when chi-town usually gets the first snow fall. But this crowd will be hot and excited so maybe find yourself a little chickie to keep you warm  :-*

Bring a coat dude! It will be freezing ass cold. But then again, this is chicago and one day it could be 70 and the next 20. Even within the same day!

Hey, does anyone know if Allstate still has a designated smoking area inside, or do you have to go outside now? If you have to go outside, does that mean you get your ticket scanned when you exit and then again when you re-enter? I haven't been there since early 05, and i know Chicago has the smoking ban now, so i was kinda wondering about how all that works.

There is still a designated area inside. This chick I work with, her roommate works at the arena and she comes home complaining that she smells like smoke cause the area is near her beer stand. She just worked last night so I know this is true. It sucks to haul to the parking lot to smoke.

Beware of the United Center man, if you ever see a concert there! I was there this past summer and they made all the smokers go out one designated door - you couldn't even go out any door! - and get behind these police horses that were positioned in a square just to smoke like a bunch of cattle! Even though you were already outside - you coudn't smoke unless you went into the section with the horses set up!!!!!! How fuckin absurd is that? People who were standing outside smoking outside the horses were told to put their smokes out or get behind the horses! So, now, at this venue, you can't even smoke outside but must smoke in a designated area outside. Nothing like totally invading your freedom. I'm sure they don't want to clean up all the butts, but UC is not in such a great area anyway and bums piss and throw smokes there during the day anyway. I will try to never see a show at this venue just because of this. My seats were all the way on the other end of the stadium and I had to walk all the way around just to go out the designated smoking door!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UC sucks ass!

As far as coats go, I always just bring a shitty little jacket that I really don't care about.  Go pick one up at Wal-Mart or something...  If you lose/ruin it, it won't matter so much.

I'm gauging interest in my two reserved seats tickets. Section 110 row AA (that 's the VERY first row  the little section before the main 110). I had asked ticketmaster to cancel my order but I think this might be a long battle. Please PM me only with interest or intent and I'll let you know. Not looking to make a nickel, I'll PM you back exactly what I paid for them. 

I'm going to smoke my ganja in the arena discreetly as I don't trust Rosemont cops but no one has a problem with that kind of smoke - at least I never hear any complaints!

And if you need the address for Shoeless Joe's - look at the previous threads - we listed the address in there. Also, I believe it is right across the street from the venue affiliated with a hotel and I can't remember the name of the hotel for the life of me - too much ganja - but I think it is Best Western or something. It is basically a sports bar.

I am so psyched for this show, I can't stop talking about it and telling people! Especially reading threads for shows that already rocked! Tickets.com better come through or have to deal with a crazy beeeeetch!

Does anyone know if this show is close to selling out? I checked ticketmaster a few days ago and all they had left were obstructed view. I'm still waiting for my tickets from ticketmaster and tickets.com. Wish I had them. It sucks to wait and worry.

All they have available now is the Top level, starting at 202, which is about halway down in the upper tier. All lower level seats and GA are sold.

Buddy i saw them in halifax. and these guys are amazing youll love em. the 2002 tour was nothing like what ull hear  this time through. also  They dont play Dont Cry. However Ron Thal plays a very jazzed up version of it as a solo and the fans sing along.

If my buddy from Indy drives over (to central Illinois, where I live) I'll probably not make it up in time for a pre-party...though if I come stag, I'll probably be lookin' for a good sandwich and a beer, so I'll review this thread and make a destination decision!

From what I've read, Shoeless Joe's is in a hotel across I-90 (please correct me if I'm wrong).  I know the arena is right on the interstate, but is there a way to walk between the two, or would I have to drive from SJ to a parking garage closer to the arena?

Any help from the locals would be appreciated!

I'm not local, but I used to be.  Yes, you can walk beneath I-90 to the Arena.  I would recommend parking in the Allstate Arena parking lot and walking over to Shoeless Joes, and then walk back before the show.  This will prevent your car from being towed in the Shoeless Joe's parking lot or from you being stuck in concert traffic as you leave shoeless joes.  The place kind of sucks, but that is where everyone will be before the show so we'll see you there. 

I'm flying up from Atlanta tomorrow morning and can't wait for this.

I think "2nd City" has some historical significance, rather than being some slight about not quite being NY or something to that effect. 

It's certainly an important place to play, though, and it should be a great show!

You walk to the main street that borders the arena to the east- I think it is Higgins Rd.  Then go south and go underneath the expressway (I-90).  Shoeless Joes is in the Best Western Hotel (at least it used to be a best western, haven't been there in a couple years but it probably still is one) on the right hand side, just after you cross under the interstate.  Outtagetme and his crew will see you there.

Nothing is as magical as seeing any band at a small arena! But, I guess you have to take what you can get!

Hey, I called Allstate and some very nice (not) lady who sounded thrilled to be doing her job told me only Suicide Girls and Bach will be the bands opening. I also asked when they would cut off alcohol sales and she said she didn't know. And I wanted to ask if Rosemont has an ordinance cause I think they do regarding time and alcohol but she was like ok, bye.

So, bring the flasks and any other party material cause you never know!

I didn't know Axl was sick and still performing!!!!!!! Holy shitballs! The lyrics cut out some times but I thought it was the sound because they were having problems at other shows. No wonder he didn't say much!

This show was f***ing fantastic! Saw Bach and GNR. Bach fired up the audience like crazy because he was ranting about how his first show was in Chicago and here it was 20 years later and could we believe he was back? Also dissed MSG but I think it was to fire up the audience even more! Then made some jokes about Allstate. They deserve it cause they cut off beer sales way too early!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Solid performance and played longer than expected.

GNR. What can I say that hasn't been said? The band members (even though not the original, sounded excellent) are total showmen and sounded tight as hell! I didn't want this show to end, even at 2:00 AM. I was tired but euphoric! Some lamies in the crowd but overall great crowd and great reception to every song - critics say the new songs didn't make a dent but the audience responded very positively and many of the audience already knew the tunes! People around us did try to bum some OH's but I was like, unless you are a HTGTH member, no.

The thing I missed the most was Axl's ranting - I used to love how he would talk to the audience and sometimes go off on a tangent and fire people up! But now I see why he didn't speak much - strep! I wonder just how much more this show would have rocked if he wasn't sick! Seriously - the audience was crazy about him - he said on a press release that he was going to do a surprise acoustic jam but because he wasn't feeling well - would he have done that here in Chi-town???????????????? Showed up someplace and played?????????????? Or at the show????????????

And a couple of side notes - sex kitten is one of the greatest cats around! She made me this awesome t-shirt that I wore proudly the whole night - it says - I love Axl on the front with a picture of him in the back of a squad car being arrested and laughing - love it!!! The back says - loaded like a freight train. Many comments on that one!!!!!!!!! Plus, she had cats buying her drinks - not just one - in shoeless joe's before we even got there - she needs to be a good will ambassador!!!!!!!

Also, a three year old in our row, smelling so much marijuana is just not cool. Who the hell brings a three year old to a show that lasts until 2:00 AM? Scary.

At Allstate Arena, a polished Guns N' Roses now more brand than band

When last seen at the Allstate Arena, in 2002, Guns N' Roses had retooled its lineup and was previewing tracks from its years-in-the-making album, "Chinese Democracy." Pyro and fireworks exploded, guys not named Slash played fancy guitar solos, and the songs from "Appetite for Destruction" still sounded unbeatable.

On Monday at the same venue, it was 2002 all over again. The Gunners lineup had once again been shuffled around singer Axl Rose, and "Chinese Democracy" had still not been released. Several songs from that endlessly forthcoming album were once again trotted out to little notice, but "Sweet Child O' Mine" and the rest of the "Appetite" tracks still rolled through the joint like a freight train on fire. There were more long guitar solos by Slash stand-ins, and the pyro was still hot enough to flush cheeks in the lower balcony.

If Rose and his revolving door of bandmates sound like they're spinning their wheels, that didn't bother an audience that filled the arena to three-quarters capacity and lingered through three opening acts and a two-hour-plus Gunners set that didn't end till nearly 2 a.m. They came to relive the era when Rose, Slash, Duff McKagen, Izzy Stradlin and Stephen Adler put the sleaze back in Sunset Strip rock 'n' roll, and sold millions upon millions of records. Since his 1987-92 heyday, Rose has managed to alienate all his sidekicks and many of his fans. Now he stands alone atop GNR, but there's the inescapable notion that it is now more of a brand than a band.

Monday's show was a polished procession of oldies and a smattering of new tracks. Rose's recent material sounded more labored than the swaggering older material. The "Chinese Democracy" songs were outfitted in once-trendy touches, such as trip-hop beats, but they already sound dated. The fans were unmoved. They came to hear "Appetite" played in its entirety, and Rose played most of it. Night-prowling anthems "Welcome to the Jungle" and "Paradise City" framed the concert, and "Mr. Brownstone," "Sweet Child O' Mine," "It's So Easy," "Nightrain" and "My Michelle" (which Rose sung with opener Sebastian Bach) still packed a wallop.

Rose's snake dancing charisma isn't what it once was. With his beefier frame, sun-glasses, and braids pulled back in a pony tail, he looked like one of those oily '80s talent scouts who once might've signed Guns N' Roses. But when his yowl wasn't badly undermixed, as it was in the early portion of the show, it still cut like a rusty blade. He was at his best on "Patience," first whistling the melody, then crooning it with grizzled authority against a subdued acoustic backdrop.

The singer was unfailingly gracious, and the set rolled along without a hint of trouble. The musicians around him, including bassist Tommy Stinson and guitarists Robin Finck, Richard Fortus and Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal, sounded well-rehearsed. They were pros doing what pros do when on six-figure retainers.

If he has to call them Slash stand-ins, I can live with that, but he should have enough respect to make that statement AFTER discussing them by name.  I get the feeling he came in with preconceived notions, and was looking for evidence to back them up.

Got to my hotel (Best Western) @ about 4. We made the mistake of bringing a friend along. He was already drunk @ 1 when we picked him up and no more than 30 minutes after getting to the motel he headed for the bar at Shoeless Joe's. So, after about 15 annoying phone calls from him, we went and met him at the bar. He's wasted and harrassing waitresses, then proceeds to take food right off my fucking plate and chow it down. I was ready to "dot his eye" for him, but my wife intervened, so i did the right thing and went back to my room and chilled.

Headed to the show at about 8. Saw the last 2 songs of Moderndayzero. Went to go get something to drink, merch, and have a smoke. Luckily we ended up getting separated from my obnoxoius drunk friend, and went back down to the floor and watched the last 10 minutes of Suicide Girls. It was actually kinda cool. Better than what i had expected- based on what little i saw.

Then Bach came on, and man he fucking rocked! he played much longer than i had expected. I counted 14 songs total. He even did one from that Frameshift cd he sang on!

Much to my surprise the wait for GNR wasn't long at all. We must get lucky in Chicago, cuz there wasn't much of a wait back in 02 either. Must have something to do with the airport being right there by the arena, maybe. Some idiot tried to convince me that Axl has it in his contract that he doesn't go on til 2 hours after the last opener. I was just like whatever dude. I hope he felt like a moron when it was only 30 minutes after Bach left the stage, and GNR hit.

They played the same songs as usual, included Maddy in the encore.  I had trouble hearing Axl during Better, but could hear him fine during the rest of the songs. I was approx 15 or so "rows" back, almost center. All the songs sounded great to me. I noticed Axl's voice was a little raspier sounding for the last couple songs, but man he pulled it off well considering he had strep and an ear infection. I was the only one in the area i was standing that knew the new songs- well, except my wife who knows the songs cuz i've pretty much crammed them down her throat,LOL. Most people i was around did have a positive reaction to the new material. Most people in my area were not happy about the amount of solos, and some were bitching that just when things got going with hard rockers, Axl slowed it down with a ballad. I do agree that the order some songs were played could've been better, but whatever, they sounded great and that's what matters to me.

If/When the album comes out I'll definately be going again, but not until then.Next time it'll just be the wife and i, and we'll be getting seats (I couldn't have a fucking Pepsi on the floor, that's just ridiculous!). It was a great show that i would give a 9 out of 10. To all that thought the show sucked, and didn't have a good time, PLEASE just stay the fuck home next time!

Glad you enjoyed it!  I'd be happy with a smaller gig and less bitch-n-moaners, though I'm not counting on it.

I can't believe I have never come back to this thread. lol That was the night of my life. Got to hangout with my best forum friends and got to go backstage. What a fucking night.

Anyways great pics!  im so jealous!!  i didn't know if that was from backstage in the arena !!  After the show was over me and my friend watched
a bunch of people with backstage "after hours" passes walk to this banquet hall looking building across from the arena !!  maybe that was where
the "acoustic set" that Axl called off due to his illness was going to take place!??  do u know what im talking about??

We actually seen Axl and his entourage leave the parking lot!!  i was so physically and emotionally drained from that show that we didn't even get star struck  !  i must say the braids looked crazy from across the street !!   

anyways hopefully il be making a trip back to Rosemont sooner then later
