Title: Rolling Stone: Guns N Roses fans don't follow directions? Post by: FunkyMonkey on November 27, 2006, 10:56:41 AM (Long) Weekend Rock List: Simply the Best
Last week we asked you guys to vote for the best American bands or artists who released an album this year. Apparently lots of you had a hard time with the directions because an inordinant number of votes came in for artists who were not eligible. (Did Wilco, The White Stripes, or Guns N?Roses release albums this year? No they did not.) So we?ve culled bands with the most votes AND who met the requirements of the poll. Your mission: choose from the top ten artists below and help determine 2006?s artist of the year. To help jog your memory, listen to key songs from the albums selected and then cast your vote. Try to wield your power in a benificent manor. * Pearl Jam: ?Worldwide Suicide? [Listen] * Red Hot Chili Peppers: ?Dani California? [Listen] * Tool: ?Vicarious? [Listen] * My Morning Jacket: ?Off The Record? [Listen] * Beck: ?Nausea? [Listen] * Bob Dylan: ?Someday Baby?[Listen] * The Strokes: ?Juicebox? [Listen] * Mars Volta: ?Viscera Eyes? [Listen] * TV on the Radio: ?Wolf Like Me? [Listen] * Bright Eyes: ?Drunk Kid Catholic? I usually don't vote in these kind of "top whatever" or lists, because it is biased. I mean, I would vote for either Pearl Jam or Tool, but other people would disagree, it's just a matter of how many fans of some band vote for said band. If some fan sites or forums ask fans to vote for their band, then it will be flawed. Oh, well. Maybe GN'R will top this list in 2007 though, we shall see... What was that big poll that Guns won quite a few years back?? I think it was like for Best Band Ever or something and it actually came down to GN'R and maybe like the Backstreet Boys or someone queer?? I think it was for Rolling Stone. I just remember all of us voting like hell for GN'R to win and I actually think they finally did. It was supposed to be featured in their next magazine but I don't remember ever hearing anything else about it. Maybe my thoughts are wrong and GN'R lost...?? I think it was band of the century (1900s)and album of the century (AFD). They got #1 for both of those. Title: Re: Rolling Stone: Guns N Roses fans don't follow directions? Damn that was a long time ago and probably before Vegas or Rio 2001 even happened. Title: Re: Rolling Stone: Guns N Roses fans don't follow directions?
