Here Today... Gone To Hell!

A lot of people on the board have been commenting that if CD isn't released by the end of the year then they're done with GNR, CD, the wait, etc.

Bearing that in mind, how would we feel if sometime in late December we get a concrete release date? For January or February? Given that no new information has materialized relating to the album being released this year (or even handed over to he label, or even finished) and taking into account the rumors of CD being pushed back to 2007, isn't it possible that whatever plans were in place when statements were made about the album coming this year have hit a stumbling block?

If so, this opens up a new possibility. Could we see a release date announcement and a normal promotional campaign for CD in early 2007? An end to the speculation and guesswork, replaced by the steady metronote beat of the countdown to Chinese Democracy?

At this point, which would you prefer; the possibility of CD popping up at short notice in order to make the 2006 deadline or the certainty of a definite release date (and therefore a definite amount of waiting time)?

2006 how much notice does it really need. Honestly

If GNR themselves officially  one day said the album will be released in one week or some close date. It would be all over the radio and newspapers, net etc. Any official info from the band will travel like wild fire. Trust me on this. They do not need the conventional build up.

No, I'm asking you if you'd rather have an indefinite wait or a definite release date (even if it meant knowing for sure that you'd be waiting longer)

A concrete release date would be great even if it would be around 2010... ?This wait and see game is getting tedious and doesn't really seem to go anywhere. The fans deserve some information even if it's gonna be bad. I really can't see anyone benefiting from this whole secrecy that surrounds this album.

However, I believe in the 8 and as 2 and 6 make 8, I guess 2006 is preferable.

it's funny to see these so-called fans make "threats" about being "done" with gnr and all this non-sense when you know and i know you will all come crawling back kissing axl's ass the day the record drops so just stop pretending and find something else to fill your days with in the meantime like a life, i've been a huge gnr fan since '91 and ive been to two shows with them and have waited for chinese democracy since 1999, but as much as i want the album to come out, i'd rather axl takes his time with it to make the timing perfect that rush it out and the album suffers as a consequence. axl has big plans for this new band and we as fans should support him, not threaten to stop supporting him if you don't get the record by the end of the year, like some 3 year old throwing a fit over not getting his favorite toy for christmas. keep supporting gnr through thick and thin, that's what true fans do and we gnr fans are known to be unusually loyal, we should all try to live up to that reputation.

I?ll put it like this...if they give us SOMETHING this year...i?ll be please..single..a promise...something...but the album should come out this year..Christmas....All the songs are done..and soon to be mixed...If not...they are some slow motherfuckers on the GNR - camp !

Would love to see it this year, but I don't think it is going to happen. I guess Axl has OCD or something (seriously) and so we are unlikely to see it for quite a while.

I would of course still buy it if it comes out in 2008, 2009, or 2010, but would love to see it out tomorrow.

Given the impact of AFD and UYI, I can understand why he desperately wants to avoid a flop, but come on. The record will have to face the world/critics one day, and the longer it drags out the more expectations rise.

Hell, for me, this could easily be both the best and most dissapointing album of the year (whatever year that is).

The world needs another G'n'R album.

A definitive release date is impossible because there is no album. I'd just prefer that they'd stop with the bullshitting and stop trying to cause "chaos and confusion" on this board.

Didn't Axl cancel the first two shows to put the "finishing touches" on the album? What ever happened about that?

2006. count on it.  unless it is officially stated by someone in the band, i.e. axl or merck, it will still come out this year.

That's a really good point, but 2006 still isn't over.. we should all just relax and wait... like someone said earlier: If it comes out next year, the year after, or whatever, we're still going to stick around, so we might as well ride the 'Chinese Democracy' rollercoaster and see what twists and turns are ahead..

I'm not saying that i'll be done with GnR, that'd be crazy. I've loved this music for far too long to just walk away from it. However, I won't be buying  ANY GnR merchandise, including concert tickets, until the cd comes out.

i'd be content with either.  be it the album or a date, and i mean an actual specific day on the calendar, in plain english, in 2006, i'll be thrilled.  otherwise, i guess i'll just keep waiting.  what else is there to do?  getting to see them in 2006 period was cool.  even without an album or so much as a peep in regards to a release date from here on out, best year for gnr fans in quite a while.

I'm still hoping that Axl had the sense not to say 'It's coming out this year' unless he was absolutely 100% certain, considering the damage to the band's reputation that all the previous false starts have caused.

Rush it out??! Are you serious??! If it comes out tomorrow it has not been rushed in any way shape or form, this album has been in the making since 1999 for crying out loud! That really is more than enough time to get the songs to 'where they need to be'. I'm sorry but we can't make any more excuses for Axl on the delay, he's just a perfectionist to the point where it is obsessive it would seem. Also while there is no album Axl is still considered a 'legend' rather than a 'has been' in the eyes of the media, I guess he likes it that way, who wouldn't? What I mean is if the album flops (Which is highly doubtful) he would lose A LOT of credibility, so naturally he is being EXTRA careful! I've been a fan of Guns since the late 80's and have been waiting to hear something from Axl since like '93 so of course i'm gonna ride it out and I have no doubt in my mind that the album is going to be EXCEPTIONAL, but my prediction for release date -

Summer/Fall 2007 (Let's face it they've waited this long, why not capitalize on the 20th anniversery of AFD?!)

My prediction: we'll get the record a year or two following Axl's death.  However long it takes for the lawyers to sort the rights out with his estate.  Morbid but realistic.  :beer:

i don't care anymore. whenever they decide to put it out i'll buy it. until then i'll come here waiting for any piece of news. i remeber everybody was sure about a release in march 2006 like slash said. maybe he got the wrong year. i don't care.

I said egzactly the same thing in summer 2002!
Back then I said, Summer/fall 2003, and people were "ROTFL-ing" becuase they tought that 2002 was the year.

if not released in december 2006, I have no idea when it might be released since its obvious that there's no logic behind it all.



And to all the people who say that the record company is holding the release...
How many times did we hear that the record company is actually rushing the release, and is threatening the band to release the album already.

I think the record company is just as eager to get CD out of its hair since its been nothing but trouble so far.

If it doesn't come out in 2006 like Axl and Merck claimed it would, then I really doubt it will come out in 2007 either.

Ill still buy it whenever it comes out, but I could care less about GNR if axl doesnt put the cd out this year, 2006... Im done with following this band.. theres tons of other bands who put out cds when they say they do, and talk to their fans.. : ok:

I don't know why people value that so much. They're a band not your buddy, get over it.
I don't want a band I like to waste time farting around on websites or issuing press releases every two minutes. Release albums, play shows, I'll pay for them, we're even.

That gets posted constantly by people. There's always that "If (this) doesn't happen by (this date) I'm outta here!".

I'd love to see anyone who's made those threats through the years actually back it up this time.

I'd prefer a definite release date but this is GN'R we're talking about. I guess even a definite release date could be subject to a change.
