Still waiting for my first '06 show on 12/10 in Everett!

I can beleive the age group for GN'R fans was 9 - 60 years old. People came all the way from montreal with their kids lol. At one point Axl took kept a sign that said "Come Back to montreal Mr. NYC". Axl said he would look into it or something like that About 85% of the people in the seats were on their feet throughout the whole show i'm still speechless, words can't describe the GN'R experience Title: Re: 11/18/06 Quebec City Post by: Groovie In VT on November 19, 2006, 05:38:05 PM Axl was in a great mood. He even offered up a few jokes that didn't seem to go over with the crowd so he mentioned he wouldn't be quitting his day job... then added it was actually his night job.
Title: Re: 11/18/06 Quebec City Post by: Oliver on November 19, 2006, 07:47:43 PM "It was a magical evening."
-Axl at the end of the show Indeed! Very magical! We arrived at 8:30 and the place was already packed. We missed Die Mannequin, and just as we arrived, Suicide Girls started their show. It was interesting, but a bit repetitive near the end. Anyway Quebec City girls > Suicide Girls. Then Bach played for more than 1 hour, a little bit too long if you ask me. We had a good time, though. Not because of the quality of the show, but because of all the 80's clich?s. Yes, I used to like Skid Row, but when I was 15. The crowd was really into it though, so much that Baz didn't seem to believe it. Oh yeah, and he speaks French. GN'R finally started the show at 11:50. I won't talk too much about the setlist or Axl's shoes, because we already know about it. Since I've already seen the band many times before, I thought it wouldn't be as special as the previous shows, but no, it was as good, if not better. I won't complain about the setlist, it just rocked, and the crowd really liked it. That was probably the best crowd I've seen at a GN'R show, it was insane. Really loud crowd. And we got Down on the Farm! Early in the show, Axl said something like "Good evening Montreal". Then the crowd booed (because of the Montreal-Quebec City rivalry), and Axl smiled and said "I was kidding". During a song someone in the crowd had a sign with something written on it, and Axl asked him to hand it to him. He then showed it to the crowd, and it was written "Axl comeback to Montreal (NYC guy)". He said he would look into it. Axl was in a really good mood, smiling all evening. It was great to see him like that. And his voice was great. All my friends were seeing the band for the first time, and they were very impressed by the quality of the show and the new band members. Bumblefoot was funny with his fur hat! Welcome to the North! At one point, Axl said something like "If I don't have a good behavior tonight, you can send me to the penalty box with the Suicide Girls". I usually agree that there's too much solo spots during the show, but Robin's solo was awesome! He got the help of Frank and Dizzy, and he played a really cool bluesy solo, very Led Zeppelin-ish. Thal's Don't Cry was great too. I.R.S. kicked ass! This song is much better live. I can't say the same about Better though. It is one of my favorite new songs, but for some reason, it's not so good live. But I still enjoyed it. And they didn't play Madagascar. They finished the show past 2 AM, and the crowd was asking for more. I didn't see anybody leave before the end. Eveybody left happy. By the way, I read in the newspaper this morning that Axl had a roast duck dinner before the show. Anyway, I'm sure I forgot a lot of things, but I'll post it later when I'll think about it. That show was like a dream! And after this show, I don't really care anymore if the album comes out this year or not. I just had an awesome time. Title: Re: 11/18/06 Quebec City Post by: warrocks on November 19, 2006, 10:11:40 PM I'm glad you had a great time Oliver, thanks for the review.

My wife is from Quebec originally (I'm not from Canada) and she said he wouldn't play because of the asshattery to do with seperation (and by that I mean from both sides.) People need to catch a grip and fucking learn, this is thier national anthem.. don't like it? Fuck off back to france or britain. I'm not even Canadian and have pride in that anthem for what the country has shown me. One thing I do know though.. For partying I prefer a Quebec crowd (English Canadian large towns are boring for going out in most of the time) and apart from swearing, I don't know a word of french. Title: Re: 11/18/06 Quebec City Post by: volcano62 on November 20, 2006, 07:45:10 AM Heh, Ron didn't play Oh Canada Cause Quebec is not Canada :hihi: Title: Re: 11/18/06 Quebec City Post by: Scree on November 20, 2006, 08:05:42 AM Heh, Ron didn't play Oh Canada Cause Quebec is not Canada :hihi: ???????? Could you explain that comment? Well to make a long story short, a lot of Quebecers would like to have their own nation and seperate from Canada. I'm not saying the anthem would of been booed but it would not be appropriate Title: Re: 11/18/06 Quebec City Post by: polluxlm on November 20, 2006, 08:33:07 AM Has Down On The Farm become a regular, or what? Title: Re: 11/18/06 Quebec City Post by: volcano62 on November 20, 2006, 08:49:24 AM Yeah Ron ain't stupid lol
I think Down on the Farm is one of those "choice songs" so we were lucky to get it Sebastian Bach was realy over with the crowd speaking french and everything. When he came back out for My Michelle Axl introduced him as their "new friend" Out Ta Get Me was fucking awesome live and left me standing in disbelief with my jaw dropped. "Take that one to your Quebec hearts" Axl screamed at the end of the song Better, IRS, The Blues and Chinese Democracy were kick ass and the crowd loved them! (some old couple next to me asked me how I knew all the words lol) Title: Re: 11/18/06 Quebec City Post by: calypso on November 20, 2006, 09:46:22 AM I went to the show saturday, it was my first GnR show and it was friggin' awesome! I enjoyed it from the first welcome to the jungle minute to the last scream of Paradise City. Axl had a great voice and he seemed in a very good mood, making jokes between songs. He also had a comment about how the last time he came, "he was on fire". He was talking about Montreal in 1992.
The Suicide Girls were a good show for guys I guess. Being a girl, I decided to go buy a t-shirt during that part of the show. Sebastian Bach was great, really 80' style with his leather clothes. I didn't know him that well before but he got me interested in Skid Row. Axl gave a pretty long show and he seemed to be happy about de crowd. He said he would come back. YAY! The whole crowd went nuts when he came on stage and song after song, the excitation was getting bigger! People sang all the lyrics and the majority of the crowd was standing up the whole time. About the whole Canada/ Quebec thing, I agree, The O Canada would not have been well received in a crowd like that. The majority of people weren't happy to hear Sebastian Bach talk about Ontario. Poor guy, he got booed a little bit when he talked about his childhood in Ontario. He didn't understand why people weren't happy about it and he said "I'm telling you I was raised in Ontario, what the fuck?"? I, personnally, wasn't mad at all, I think it's nice for him to tell us. Bur I though it was funny how this guy was trying to be nice and telling us he has a canadian link but how in Qu?bec, this is NOT going to make him popular to talk about English province. I have to admit that Quebec is a little susceptible and we could have let this one go. I was also happy to see people open to hear Finck, Fortus, etc, play and get a lot of applause. In the end, it was a reaaaally good show, I easily consider it the best show I have ever seen! I went there with my friend who likes Guns, but she doesn't know them that much and she was as hysterical as me, screaming and singing all the time! She said it was better than she imagined and that she now understands why I love Guns so much! So it was a good show for new fans as well. I hope Axl didn't lie when he said he was going to come back, cause I'm looking forward to it! Title: Re: 11/18/06 Quebec City Post by: Groovie In VT on November 20, 2006, 10:50:35 AM Cuz I am too lazy to retype a new review I will just paste mine from another board that I typed it into last nite.
I had a great time. I travel some 4hrs or so up from Vermont, found the arena, got my room, had a great dinner at a local restaurant ( mmmmmmm rack of ribs) then back to room to digest a bit, got to the Arena just after Die Manniquin started. They were ok, very young and full of energy. Suicide Girls were HOT, from my seats on the right side of the stage down low I could see back stage and got to see at least one SG with no panties as she changed for the next act ... :hihi: :o Then came Bach, he was great and sure knows how to get a crowd whipped into a frenzy. To me I have NEVER seen a place so packed prior to GnR being on stage. The house was maybe 75% full during SG , I did notice several guys had to leave with their wives ( poor guys) but by time Bach played it was back up to 85% full and then it was PACKED when GnR started. Axl was having a good time and cracking bad jokes ( Did ya hear what one female suicide bomber said to the other? Does this bomb make me look fat? and one about fucking sheep near the edge of a cliff cuz they push back harder when scared... did that joke after DOTF) and I was really impressed with the energy of the whole band. I saw em NYC in May on the 4th night and they were awesome but they were much tighter this time around. Bumblefoot has sure become one of the band and interacts great and seems to really get into the music he is playing. Fortus just plain ROCKS it and beats the guitar until it produces the sound he wants. Robin seems to just get that bad boy to wail by pure heart and soul. Amazing blend of talent. I had a wonderful time and like Axl I wish to salute the fine folks of Quebec City for making my trip a blast! A whole bunch of you guys really made my day when it seems everyone LOVES my car, especially the hot ladies! ( I drive a black 85 Monte Carlo SS all done up to look like an actual stock car from the race track, complete with my own number 06 and outsidegroove.com on the quarters, tell me if you saw me on the road in QUebec City!) I sure hope they play Montreal soon so I can catch em again. |
