Vance said the two gunmen fled after shooting Michael Penkala, 21, of Webster, Massachusetts, in the chest and shoulder. Penkala was in stable condition at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts, with injuries not believed to be life threatening, Vance said. Police were searching for the suspects, both believed to be in their teens, Vance said. He said one was wearing a ski mask and brandishing a handgun, and the other had what appeared to be a shotgun. About 30 miles away, another shopper was beaten and robbed of his new PlayStation 3 just minutes after he bought it at a store in Manchester, police said. The shopper told police five men surrounded and beat him as he left the Shoppes at Buckland Hills with the new PlayStation. Police Sgt. Chris Davis said the attackers pushed one of their cohorts out of the car as they drove away. That man, a 17-year-old from Windsor, was charged with robbery, larceny, assault and breach of peace. Nationwide, short supplies of the PS3 and strong demand led to long lines of buyers, some waiting for days outside stores. Once the doors opened Friday, they pushed and shoved their way to the shelves in several cities to get at the limited supply. Two people were arrested in Fresno, California, after a crowd trampled people in a parking lot. (Watch shoppers make a dash for PS3s -- 1:05) In Sullivan, Indiana, a man was in critical condition after emergency surgery for a stab wound after he and a friend tried to rob two men of consoles they waited 36 hours in line to buy, police said. Andrew Templeton, 20, and David Wiggins, 28, of Sullivan, Indiana, were assaulted by two teens after waiting for 36 hours at a Super Wal-Mart, police said. They were unloading their PlayStation 3s from their car when two teens approached them carrying a chain and a tire iron and demanding their consoles, said Sullivan Police Chief David Story. A fight broke out. Wiggins' nose was broken, and he stabbed one of the attackers, Dylan Moss, 19, police said. Moss was in critical condition after surgery, officials said. Sullivan County Prosecutor Bob Springer said he plans to charge Moss and accomplice Dustin Fagg, 19, with felony robbery. Elsewhere, two men wearing black ski masks and sunglasses made off with five consoles after holding two employees at gunpoint at an Englewood, Ohio, video game store Thursday night, police said. A Pennsylvania teenager was also robbed of his new PlayStation by a man who tapped on his car window with a handgun in Allentown, police said. In Lexington, Kentucky, someone fired BB pellets from a passing vehicle at people waiting outside a Best Buy store, according to WKYT, whose own reporter said she was among four people grazed while she interviewed buyers in line. Police fired a talcum powder ball at the ground outside a Target store in Henrico, Virginia, to get the attention of an unruly crowd of about 350 people who were waiting to buy one of the shop's eight consoles, police said. To step away from the shooting which is horrible in the first place, this whole limited quantity ordeal is a crock of shit. For me, I don't give a flying fuck about the PS3, I'll never own one and wouldn't waste my time on it......but there are people going literally nuts over these things. Like they're the fucking greatest thing on earth...they've had instances where people have paid up to $10k already for one. They were being resold heavily on ebay for average $2-3k, but I think ebay said it was going to regulate that. People at the Best Buy in State College, PA were actually selling their places in line for like $500.
I went to Wal-mart at midnight of the 17th because I had just gotten off work and had to get dog food and I seen a flurry of people in there arguing and fighting over them. They're lining up already for the other Nintendo one coming up. The funny thing about it is, these first few PS3s are going to be a crock of shit anyway. That thing is going to have so many flaws and bugs in it that it won't be funny. But eh...to each their own. I'll stick with my Altered Beast arcade machine in the den. First of all, who the fuck would pay either of those prices for a PS3?? It's not even remotely close to as good as they said it would be and most of the launch games are extremely poor. The 360 launch was much better than this and I'm sure I'm not the only one a little disappointed in it... DEFINITELY NOT WORTH THE MONEY!!
Anyway, over half of the people that picked it up at the regular price were scalpers and now they're selling them for ten times the ammount on ebay. Although that sounds like a great way to make some money, people are getting the shit kicked out of them and shot at because of the money they can make off a console. It just blows my mind how sad some people in society are. Some people even got shot with a BB gun while waiting in line and they ended up leaving the line after waiting a whole day. Obviously being hit with BB's isn't a horrible experience, but it's the principle of the whole thing. It's upsetting that it has come down to shit like this and the same thing happened with the 360 when it came out; people got beat up and stores were robbed. Is it up to the company manufacturing the systems to stop with these huge shortages?? Why not produce enough for everyone?? If Sony is apparently LOSING hundreds of dollars on each PS3, don't you think they would not be too happy if some people were making a $3,000 profit on theirs?? I hear it has over 100 hours of gameplay. Red Steel is a horrible, horrible game. I played it a couple of days ago and the game was honestly laughable. Then I went to gamespot.com today and found a review for it and they agreed with my first impressions of it. I think it got around a 5 out of 10 and gamespot is usually pretty good with their reviews. Zelda on the other hand got an 8.8, so at least you'll have one good game. Title: Re: Killing for the PS3?? You really can't compare it to a PS3 - it's sort of like how the DS is so different from the PSP - each one is gonna do certain types of games better. But yeah, I bought the Wii for my girl yesterday, and once she passed out from hours upon hours of Zelda I gave the thing a try. I played Call of Duty 3, which graphically doesn't compare to the PS3 or XBox360, but gameplay wise is a ton of fun once you figure out how to move! I plan to pick up a Wii, once the holiday season gets over. I think this the system is very creative and something different to play.
