Title: Movie that inspired Chinese Democracy?
Post by: slunksoma on November 15, 2006, 12:05:52 PM
What was the name of it firstly, i cant for the life of me remember, but i do remember reading Axl saw it and wrote CD. Also anyone who has seen it can discuss the parallels between it and the stuff they have heard from the album.

EDIT: its Kundun...I knew that would happen, as soon as I post I remembered. well anyone seen it then?

I think it's "Look at how many people died or sacrificed things to bring this special person into exile."

That's based partly on Axl's quote and also my own observations of the movie. As far as the new material, I think we see a glimpse of it in I.R.S.... but only parts of it, as that song seems to sing from two people's perspectives, similar to "Double Talkin' Jive." The part in I.R.S. I'm speaking of is,

"Is it true, what they say of you?"

Just my oppinion.

i've seen it, its a great movie!

But I have doubts if it has inspired CD. I remember Axl talking about it in las vegas, the 01/01/01 gig. He says the music talks about something like he has seen in that movie, but he saw the movie after the song was written, at least that's how i remember it

One thing is for sure, Axl must watch alot of movies. Think about how many movie quotes are on UYI and all the soundtracks they're on too.

I've always wondered about seeing that movie too. Maybe I'll track it down.

I was able to find it at Blockbuster shortly after he made the comment 01/01/01. But BB has cleared out most VHS, and unless it came out on DVD, no chance at BB. You can try amazon.

russtcb:
i apologize that my post was a little off topic but i thought the point of this web site was to share news about the band. well i shared news that was, what i thought to be, more relevant to the band then a movie that came out a while ago that inspired Axl to write Chinese Democracy.

btw i don't give a flying fuck what inspired him to write it just as long as he RELEASES it witch probibly won't be for a while.

but i geuss all we can do is wait just a little bit more. sorry once again to have takin' up space on this thread. :)
