Title: Re: twat solo Post by: Orgasmatron on November 10, 2006, 11:15:13 AM Buckethead's solo is amazing in TWAT... Mind blowing :o
Title: Re: twat solo Post by: G N R PIMP on November 10, 2006, 12:22:54 PM buckethead's solo is astonishing - so much emotion.
Title: Re: twat solo Post by: the Garden on November 10, 2006, 12:41:58 PM I want to say no, In the hammerstein video it shows robin playing at the top of the fretboard, i have actually started to peice it together. It something like this, its not exact but its pretty close, feel free to expand upon it if anyone knows more than i do.

http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/g/guns_n_roses/there_was_a_time_tab.htm i got the final solos tabbed out aswell but they need cleaning up b4 sending them live Title: Re: twat solo Post by: veritas55 on November 10, 2006, 12:58:55 PM pray that Ron Thal has not re-recorded it. This is NOT a flame on Ron -- he's great, but Bucket has he's own style and it shows up perfectly in the TWAT final solo.
Title: Re: twat solo Post by: Voodoochild on November 10, 2006, 01:16:53 PM There's a thread on the Nice Boys section about this. A guy pretty much tabbed all the solos - and nailed, of course.
Title: Re: twat solo Post by: FlashFlood on November 10, 2006, 01:21:41 PM there is a great guitar pro file at ultimate-guitar.com
the first solo is fairly simple. Title: Re: twat solo Post by: W 23 AXL II on November 10, 2006, 03:42:00 PM the song is in C minor....
the solo is in C minor. starts with the D on the 2nd string, being bent to an Eb (minor second to a minor third) Title: Re: twat solo Post by: GNFNR_UK on November 11, 2006, 12:08:20 AM pray that Ron Thal has not re-recorded it.? ?This is NOT a flame on Ron -- he's great, but Bucket has he's own style and it shows up perfectly in the TWAT final solo. My thoughts exactly Title: Re: twat solo Post by: polluxlm on November 11, 2006, 04:21:21 AM pray that Ron Thal has not re-recorded it.? ?This is NOT a flame on Ron -- he's great, but Bucket has he's own style and it shows up perfectly in the TWAT final solo. My thoughts exactly Totally. Luckily we got the demo if the shit should hit the fan. Still confindent that Axl also sees Bucketheads uniqueness in GN'R. TWAT and Madagascar may not be re-recorded! Title: Re: twat solo Post by: Lucky on November 11, 2006, 07:07:35 AM the first 2 minutes of twat are not up to the level.
I hope they change it :'( it has to much of a hiphoping beat to it. I just dont like it. Still confindent that Axl also sees Bucketheads uniqueness in GN'R. me too -- given that Del James confirmed that they tried to get Bucket back even as late as 2006 (which also explains why they waited to the last second to bring Ron in). I would hope that most of the recorded stuff would stay untouched, but the reality is that Axl seems to have continually re-recorded stuff as band members left and Del even confirmed that Ron played on "some" new songs. Time, hopefully, will tell. Title: Re: twat solo Post by: jimb0 on November 11, 2006, 09:45:36 AM the first 2 minutes of twat are not up to the level. After all, the last time this guy played with Gn'R was on December 5 2002. It's been a while... His TWAT solo is good, but I prefer the 1st one (Robin).? And yes, Ron, Richard or Robin could easily re-record the outro solo. It's not a big deal for them, they are professional players, they can play almost everything. I think the person who writes it should play it. this is art. the original is always better. it's like saying that copy of a picasso is as good as picasso. P.S. I dont like Picasso. I just used him as an example. Title: Re: twat solo Post by: Verasa on November 11, 2006, 10:13:32 AM first solo of twat by a fan. nevermind the glass peice by the fish tank :hihi:

that one seems really hard. Title: Re: TWAT Solo Post by: xj220 on November 12, 2006, 10:19:57 PM Nice job. There's another guy who posted his version of the solo on youtube, but it sounded a little flat when he held the notes out, you didn't have that problem.
Title: Re: TWAT Solo Post by: vicarious existence on November 12, 2006, 10:28:16 PM not bad, I actually thought this was gonna be the ending solo... ;D

This is not me, just found it and thought it may be of interest. Title: Re: twat solo Post by: polluxlm on November 13, 2006, 10:06:41 AM Nobody can replicate Buckethead on record. In fact, very few guitarists can be copied to the exact. If you don't hear that your ears probably aren't good enough.
Bucketheads work is pivotal to the quality of CD. Title: Re: twat solo Post by: nesquik on November 13, 2006, 10:22:35 AM Nobody can replicate Buckethead on record. Bucketheads work is pivotal to the quality of CD. 1) Richard can play the BH parts while sleeping and put 1 million times more emotion and vibe into it. bbf can also play those parts aswell. And I'm sure Robin can. 2) Have you heard the record before saying BH is pivotal to the quality of CD? You haven't heard the record, not even a dawn single note, so speak for you. There have been many studio sessions since he left, many things may have changed, so turn the page, he deseapeared from GN'R on December 5 2002. There was a life before him and there is a life after him. Move on. Compare 2002 to 2006, think 2 minutes... and everything will be clear like pure water. At least, it is for me. There are smiles in the band now. It works better. Title: Re: twat solo Post by: polluxlm on November 13, 2006, 11:15:24 AM 1) Richard can play the BH parts while sleeping and put 1 million times more emotion and vibe into it. bbf can also play those parts aswell. And I'm sure Robin can. Yeah, I'm sure. Maybe that's why Richard used to play with popbands and not Les Claypool and other highly regarded musicians. No disrespect to Fortus, he's a great rock guitarists, one of my favorites in the new band, but when Buckethead does his most amazing tricks Fortus simply lack the skill to follow. He can do alot of BHs simpler parts, but when it comes to the pivotal points of let's say TWAT, no way. That's a one in a million thing. Quote 2) Have you heard the record before saying BH is pivotal to the quality of CD? You haven't heard the record, not even a dawn single note, so speak for you. There was a life before him and there is a life after him. Move on. I don't need to hear the whole record to know how important he is. What stands out in the new songs are two things, Axls touch and Bucketheads touch. The rest of the band brings alot of cool stuff to the songs too, but the really special things are the works of those two. Quote Compare 2002 to 2006, think 2 minutes... and everything will be clear like pure water. At least, it is for me. There are smiles in the band now. It works better. It works better, I agree. But when it comes to the studiowork I believe BH is essential. |
