Title: Scott's solo album
Post by: handsareshakin on November 11, 2006, 10:14:14 PM
Anyone have any news on when it's going come out? Or if he's even started recording? I haven't read anything about it in a long time.

He shot a video called "Happy" for it earlier this year...September I think.  It was slated for a 2006 release at one time.

He had wanted to do a second solo album even before he joined VR. Guess he can't use all of his ideas in the band.

I think it is much healthier for the band dynamic as a whole that he release the solo album so he has an outlet for his musical ideas that might not fit into the context of the band. I would much rather that than him make the next VR record his solo album, or make all of the other members in the band so miserable because his need to implement his vision that they all quit and blow up the band.

Man, seems like the idea of using side projects might have saved another band we all know and love. ?

I thought doing and not doing side projects killed the band we all know and love  :-X

I'm actually looking forward to his solo album.

Just like I look forward to Chris Cornell's solo album.

The main reason is that they tend to experiment a lot more with ideas and create more original music. They just can't do that with the whole band, because it would hurt their image.

Although I wouldn't mind VR experimenting.. Contraband is okay, but the songs sound too much alike. They need more diverse material.

If Scott is clean and sober, it's best if he is doing something with the down time inbetween VR records-I'm not sure why anyone is confused/angry about him doing a side project-I think it shows his life is going well-most addicts/recovering alcloholics will tell you the first thing you realize is how much more time you have to do things-Slash said staying busy is what kept him off drugs for a long time
