Title: So what... Post by: ChinDem04 on November 11, 2006, 11:19:49 AM Enough about whats going to happen. Why cant everybody here just care enough that GnR is back and doing some great shows, who cares if there isnt any newer songs being played, we already have better and IRS to listen to, I would rather listen to anymore new songs on CD which hopefully comes out soon.
I think the only people who seem disappointed of last nights MSG show are the ones who really expected something. You guys are fools then. I am as happy to know that the tour wasnt cancelled like in 2002 over something so dumb. Axl and company are having a blast and a lot of us here can do nothing but complain. Title: Re: So what... Post by: Dr. Blutarsky on November 11, 2006, 11:29:55 AM My sentiments as well.
Some people see the glass half empty............................... Title: Re: So what... Post by: ChinDem04 on November 11, 2006, 11:33:42 AM My point is that we here on these boards are here for a reason, we like Gnr for there music?style? for axl? So why the complaints? :crying:
Title: Re: So what... Post by: busngabb on November 11, 2006, 12:06:49 PM The problem is that the band and Axl in particular promised us the album in 2002. He promised to return to England in 2003 with 'a whole bunch of new songs'.
He's scared the album will fail so is playing an AFD tribute set to claw back some money before his retirement, be it through them releasing the album and its inevitable failing, or through them not doing so and just quiting. The album should be out already, they should not be touring again without any new material. Title: Re: So what... Title: Re: So what... Post by: ChinDem04 on November 11, 2006, 01:03:05 PM True words you speak! lol. But what proof do we have that Axl is afraid of failure, hell he and the old Gnr Released 5 albums between 1987 and 1993? If although he is afraid, its because GnR hasnt released anything new in a long time, once CD drops then I thing its all going to come out of the wood works, kinds of when your drinking, you dont want to take a piss, but when you do its releiviing and you feel more comfortable taking more bathroom breaks, weird analogy but think about it. 8)

Post by: Bodhi on November 11, 2006, 01:20:51 PM When did Axl promise the record in 2002?! He never did that... I dont know how you interpret "youll see it, i dont know if soon is the word" as promising the record to come out that year...
Title: Re: So what... Post by: Eclipsed107 on November 11, 2006, 03:19:51 PM ^ Axl promises the album every year. ::)

Without an album this is no better than the Poison/Cinderella nostalgia tour that came through last summer. Sad part is that tour sold more seats for the Cleveland show than GNR has so far. Some of us would like the band to have a future beyond that of a washed up nostalgia band touring around on the hits. Without any sort of new album they are starting to tread very close to that moniker. Title: Re: So what... Post by: The Legend on November 11, 2006, 03:35:39 PM My sentiments as well. Some people see the glass half empty............................... Exactly. Some people are just like that, and will always view it has half-empty. I know it's been a long wait for the album, it has, no one's denying that. But it hasn't even been a year since their most recent return. If your a fan, and you've been a fan for awhile, you know everything takes patience with this band. It is what it is, and it obviously is never gonna change. If you want punctuality and quanity from your favorite artist, go elsewhere. Let it be. It'll happen when it happens. Title: Re: So what... Yes, I understand your concerns, but this is a time for GNR fans to be positive and optimistic.? ?:peace: Cheers, W.R. Title: Re: So what... Post by: Crowebar on November 11, 2006, 05:41:11 PM I saw GNR the last time they played Toronto and I'm very happy that I'm going to see them on the 15th.
Memories of a lifetime. Axl's gonna kickass in Toronto!!!!! Title: Re: So what... Post by: Mr.Intensity on November 11, 2006, 05:50:35 PM Axl has said some things like "you'll see it," "this year, god willing".. etc... but what people don't understand is that Axl Rose is saying that stuff while on a huge high/adrenaline rush with an audience screaming. I don't believe Axl Rose has ever given a firm date in just an interview or anything like that. Maybe when Axl was being cheered by thousands of fans and he said "this year" or something like that.. he really thought it was going to happen, but for some reasons it didn't.....
I don't think Chinese Democracy will flop or fail, I think it will sell 3 million copies, I don't know why it's not out yet either... but it's great to have Guns N Roses on the road and it's great that there is still a lot of hope left for the new band. I don't believe they will fail, I never have, that's why most of us have been waiting for so long. :peace: Title: Re: So what... He said "late fall" to be exact and "you WILL see it this year". He said it again at the MTV Music awards without thousands of fans screaming at him. Said it will be out this year. There's nothing out there besides speculation that says its not coming out this year. We have Axl on two different occasions saying will be out this year. We have management saying it will be out this year. Unless i'm wrong its still fall and its still 2006. Everybody wants something now, everybody wants a single now, everybody is sick of waiting. Everyone should relax, its NOT 1999,2000,2001,2002,2003,2004, or 2005, it fucking 2006 and everything hints at a 2006 release, untill we hear otherwise stop the bitching already. I know whats next too, a couple people saying the band needs to do this or if its coming out this year wheres the promotion, what the hell is this band doing. Though I am no expert I do belive a band's management that has successfully handeled several popular artists and a record label that has promoted tens of thousands of cds, if not more, knows what the fuck their doing. :smoking: Title: Re: So what... Post by: acompleteunknown on November 11, 2006, 07:21:43 PM Bands have a very hard time touring with new material before an album is released. If the band played 6-7 new songs, a majority of the audience would be completely lost. You have to remember, the band has 6 albums...well 5 really not counting Spaghetti. They played 4 new songs out of 18 songs played. That would be the same thing for any band who toured prior to a new album coming out.
For example, Modest Mouse has a new album in March. On their appearance in Los Angeles last week, they played only 5 new songs. For diehard GNR fans, I'm sure it's a bit of a letdown not to hear some new material considering how long we've been waiting...but there's the other 80% of the audience that wants to hear material they know. I don't even get to see GNR this tour...so stop complaining. Title: Re: So what... Post by: Z on November 11, 2006, 07:54:13 PM I was a little disappointed that they didn't throw in Perfect Crime or something from that leaked setlist.
But I'm not gonna let that take away from the great time I had and the amazing performance I witnessed. I drove from Philly leaving around 6pm making it for the end of Papa Roach then headed back to Philly after the show gettin home at around 4:30am and I'd do it again. Title: Re: So what... Post by: russtcb on November 11, 2006, 07:57:19 PM I completely agree with the sentiments in the original post. I couldn't be happier that GNR are back. I love the new songs. I love the bands growth. I love the show I saw. I'm sure I'll enjoy the next one in two weeks. I love that Axl looks and sounds better and actually seems to be a much happier person.
I mean, there's just so much to be happy about I can't find room to bitch. Title: Re: So what... Not usually one to comment on other's opinions , but this one I could'nt pass up - An AFD tribute act trying to claw $$$ from people? I don't see it. If this were about " Clawing the $$$ " the guy would have released an album under the GNR name a long time ago, while the name was still hot, not putting out anything special and just cashing in - There's obviously something else going on here - What it is, I don't pretend to have a fucking clue, but it's not about ripping our cash away to line his pockets. ** Unless of course playing 6000 seat capacity arenas in West Virginia are considered the equivalent of striking oil ** Title: Re: So what...
