Title: The "I voted" thread Post by: pasnow on November 07, 2006, 02:24:17 PM Among all this political talk lately, I thought it'd be cool for ppl to post here to state they actually did vote. It'll be interesting to see of all those who posted alot in those politcal threads, who are the one's who actually vote.
In an effort to keep this from ending up in an arguement, please DO NOT STATE WHO OR WHAT PARTY YOU VOTED FOR!! There, now having said all that, I voted. ;D Title: Re: The "I voted" thread Post by: Danny Top Hat on November 07, 2006, 02:38:26 PM Could somebody please explain the mid-terms for me? What happens if Bush loses? :-\
Title: Re: The "I voted" thread Post by: Bill 213 on November 07, 2006, 02:43:23 PM Bush isn't up for office......but he could lose the Republican party's support if they all lose.
Either way.....I would have voted, but our voting machines were down  Goddamn Republicans broke them. I'm not even wasting my time to go back. Title: Re: The "I voted" thread Post by: The Dog on November 07, 2006, 02:46:49 PM Bush isn't up for office......but he could lose the Republican party's support if they all lose. Either way.....I would have voted, but our voting machines were down  Goddamn Republicans broke them. I'm not even wasting my time to go back. You'll be hearing this A LOT today I'm sure (not sure if its the repubs fault though). The long lines, incompetent poll workers, voter intimidation and busted machines are going to make for a REALLY fun news night tonight :-\ With so many close races you'd think they'd get it right BEFORE the elections? Title: Re: The "I voted" thread Post by: Backslash on November 07, 2006, 02:47:35 PM Goddamn Republicans broke them.? I'm not even wasting my time to go back.? Good to see that this thread is off to a great start. ? ::) We don't want this thread to turn into a political debate. Title: Re: The "I voted" thread Post by: Danny Top Hat on November 07, 2006, 02:48:50 PM Bush isn't up for office......but he could lose the Republican party's support if they all lose. Okay - so what actually happens if the Republicans lose? ?I'm guessing they'll still be in charge (but maybe i'm wrong). My Point being: what is the point in these elections? Title: Re: The "I voted" thread Post by: Where is Hassan Nasrallah ? on November 07, 2006, 02:54:57 PM if democracts win 6 seats in senate, or 15 in the house, they become majority in one of these > and will make these next 2 years hell for bush : blocking crazy nazi laws, launching investigation on his nazi/liar/satanist party and friends ....
and maybe we'll find these DAMN WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION !!! :) Title: Re: The "I voted" thread Post by: Sober_times on November 07, 2006, 02:56:33 PM Bush isn't up for office......but he could lose the Republican party's support if they all lose. Okay - so what actually happens if the Republicans lose? ?I'm guessing they'll still be in charge (but maybe i'm wrong). My Point being: what is the point in these elections? The point of these elections is for congress and the senate. Basically the republicans want full controll of congress and senate and the presidency so therefore they can get their policies passed. The democrats want control of congress and/or senate so they can have leverage to get some of their policies passed. Bush will remain president for 2 more years than we will have presidential candiates on the ballot. I belive theres also 36 state governor elections going on, as well as several other state and local elections as well. I voted. ?:smoking: Title: Re: The "I voted" thread Post by: Backslash on November 07, 2006, 02:57:25 PM if democracts win 6 seats in senate, or 15 in the house, they become majority in one of these > and will make these next 2 years hell for bush : blocking crazy nazi laws, launching investigation on his nazi/liar/satanist party and friends .... and maybe we'll find these DAMN WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION !!! :) I always thought the Democrats had the majority in the senate anyway, while the Republicans won the popular vote, or something like that. ?I'm not sure of how American politics works, to be honest. Title: Re: The "I voted" thread Post by: pasnow on November 07, 2006, 02:58:10 PM Goddamn Republicans broke them.? I'm not even wasting my time to go back.? Good to see that this thread is off to a great start. ? ::) We don't want this thread to turn into a political debate. HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!! ?  ? ? ? AWESOME!! ?: ok: TO DannyTopHat - The election isn't Presidential, it's for C0ngress. Presidential is 2000, 2004, 2008, 2012, etc. The off year 02 ,06, 10, etc elections are mostly for Sentate and House of Representatives. Each state has 2 Senators, and the House varies depending on the size of the state. Usually from 2-20 (There are about 540 total House members). Currently the republicans have a slight majority in each, meaning it's easier to get votes & laws passed with a majority, and being Republican the President has good support. However, if the democrats win a few of these races (about 5 Senate & 15 House) they might have the majority. Which will make it harder on Bush. Also, a more significant factor is it could be a indiction for how the US votes for it's next president (Republican or Democrat). Our country is pretty segregated voting-wise. The northeast and west coast states are democratic, the South & middle of US is Republican, leaving only a few states races relatively close or "swing" states. Around Election day politics becomes Americas favorite pasttime, as it's almost like rooting for teams (Yankees/Red Sox, Cowboys/Redskins). Back OT, I kept this description non-partisan, let's try and keep this thread that way. Title: Re: The "I voted" thread Post by: Axl4Prez2004 on November 07, 2006, 03:40:50 PM My wife and I voted this afternoon. Delaware's not a hotly contested election, but we will always exercise our right to vote.
I'm glad I took 2 days off to recover from the Guns show Sunday up in Jersey. My body is fucking exhausted! I don't know how Axl does what he does at the age of 44. All I know is that when you're lucky enough to see him, you get 100%. Plus, I was able to get in and vote in less than 5 or 10 minutes. The after work crowd can have you waiting in line for over an hour! Title: Re: The "I voted" thread Post by: Guns N RockMusic on November 07, 2006, 04:15:31 PM I voted

Title: Re: The "I voted" thread Post by: GeorgeSteele on November 07, 2006, 11:14:19 PM I love the senior citizens that are running the voting centers. I arrived at the desk handling my election district and there was a team of 5 old timers putting their minds together to find my name in the book. As I'm kind of tall, one of them busted out the old "how's the weather up there" joke and, incredibly, the entire group of them broke out in hysterical laughter, as though in each of their 85 years, they never heard that one. Good times. Title: Re: The "I voted" thread Post by: SLCPUNK on November 07, 2006, 11:16:16 PM I love the senior citizens that are running the voting centers. California had a proposition to levy an extra tax on smokers  I voted for it, but I wasnt expecting to pass, and it didnt. There was also a proposition to fund R&D for green energy sources by taxing Big Oil. It didnt pass :( Title: Re: The "I voted" thread Post by: Layne Staley's Sunglasses on November 08, 2006, 03:28:51 PM Hiya Doc! How are you?

It didnt pass? :( You guys got to vote on an extra tax on smokes in cali??!! Damn I wish we could have had a vote like that in tx, they just passed it and said smokes are going up a dollar in january. I think its bullshit that i have to pay an extra dollar for my smokes cuz my damn state government can't budget money correctly. They say its to pay for education, when lottery is supose to do that. I think its cuz all the state money pays for the adminitrave salaries of all the damn school districts. In El Paso County alone we have at least 5 districts. They need to change that. And if they do want to add another tax than they should tax something almost everybody buys instead of picking on us smokers yet again. They shouldn't target certain items that less than half of the population of texas buys with extra taxes to pay for state funded policies. I know its a voting thread but i needed to vent. :smoking: |
