Here Today... Gone To Hell!

Ok, who here is going? I will (unless the plug is pulled) and I will give you all my review on thursday. Saw Velvet Revolver there in '04, place hold around 15,000. With fans coming from Portand I think the show will be at least 3/4 full. Can't wait. Tommorow will either be a very good or bad day (depending if they show!)

Portland's loss is Worcester's gain, this will now be a much better show with a soon to be legendary rant.  I can't wait for tomorrow night, I got GA tickets.

But Hopefully Axl will adress what happened in Portland. Kind of funny how the band issues a press release and honors tickets for the 11.6 show for 11.8, yet said nothing when Philly was a no-show.

I feel bad for Portland, but it is the truth.  The cancellation adds to the show tomorrow.  There will be a greater air of anticipation and I think Guns will do something big to prove the doubters wrong, maybe another song like "Down on the Farm" from the fabled "setlist"

I won't be going to the preparty, my friend doesn't get out of class till 6:30 and we don't plan on showing up to the arena till 10 or 1030.  I consider it the right thing to do musically to avoid Papa Roach.

I will be at the show with 9 of my friends. ?None of my friends are board members. ?It will be interesting to see what they say. ?GNR!!!!

Why do you people do this to yourself?  Stop anticipating random events that you hope will happen because it just spreads rumors and dissapoints people.

I plan on being at the preparty.  I also want to be in line, but am hesitant because I think it's gonna rain.  Also, I've heard it's easy to get up front.

I don't think anything special will happen. The band will probably deliever a kick ass show and Axl will probably apologise to the fans, or at least mention something about yesterday.

Yup!  I'm just looking forward to a great show ;D  Anything else is just icing on the cake.  Besides, being on the floor is the WORSE place to actually hear any dialogue, since there is just too much other stuff going on. 

Please be advised, the only experiance I have for that is Hammerstien, so I could be wrong.  Also be advised that if I'm not up front, I will be at chest level of everyone around me, and therefore won't see a damn thing :hihi:

I have to say - I am very intrigued to read this post tomorrow night now - I'm going Friday to MSG - and as long as they come out and put on a kick-ass show in DCU - I will have no worries about the show in NYC - If there's any kind of a problem with this show, however Axl could get lynched up there!

I'm going with my girl, but I am sick with the Flu (also lost my voice) so I'm gonna sleep after work, get to the show at 10:30 and leave before PC.

I'm going. I bought cheap seats (upper level), but I'm not too concerned if GN'R uses a large video screen, as most headliners do now. It would be nice if we were allowed to move closer to the floor, though.

if i drive all the way out to worcester and this show is cancelled, i will never spend another dime on this dude.  and i don't think the cancelled show will make this one better.  that's a bad thing that happened and it will probably stress axl out.  i don't think he handles stress well.  i'm just annoyed.  i don't even know if i'll bother going. 

And if I get hit by a bus while at work tomorrow, I'll have a bad day. What's the point of going into tomorrow with a negative attitude.

Looks like the Worcester Fire Marshall will be previewing the pyro at 5 pm tonight and will make the call.  Keep your fingers crossed.  :confused:

Two nights after the state fire marshal's office in Maine pulled the plug on the band's pyro-heavy stage show, all systems are go for Axl Rose and the reconstituted Guns N' Roses tonight at Worcester's DCU Center. "I'll be there for a demonstration at 5 p.m. [tonight]," Worcester Fire Captain William Metterville said yesterday. "And if I don't like it, they don't use it." Monday's show in Portland was called off at the last minute after fire officials told the band that alcohol would not be allowed on stage when fireworks were going off. On its website, the band said the fire marshals had "made it impossible" for the band to perform at "the usual high standards their fans deserve." What fans they have left, that is. The Portland show sold barely 3,500 tickets. The DCU Center will honor those tickets, which tells us they have a lot of empty seats.

I am not going there again. But blaming the fire marshal for not doing a show is gonna piss all the other fire marshals off and another fire marshal could nix their pyro for shows down the road.

The pyro is cheesy as hell anyway-get rid of it. Use cool video screens and other imagery like they have. The confetti is a nice touch but pyro is way to 80's for me. Save some money and eliminate the risk. Pretty simple.

I love the pyro. It hits when you least expect it, and is great. It may be 80's, but GNR didn't start using it until 2002.

Nothing wrong with pyro but it is not needed..... If you need pyro to put on a good show then there is something wrong there.   Bands like Motley Crue use it because they suck live.... This band supposedly is the second coming of christ.. They shouldn't need it.

It's just used to add a little extra excitment. It's never overused, and is only used spordically on about 4-5 songs depending on what set is played.

Comparing them to the Crue are two different things. The Crue, shit, 50% of their show is pyro gags.

I kinda miss that revolving camera thing they had going in 2002.  That was one of the most original things I've seen a band have as a stage 'prop' in a long time.

I also don't like the pyro because it drowns out the guitar when the explosion occurs...especially on Jungle...I want to hear those geetars kick in! The flames are kinda cool but the explosions are too much for this old fart! ;D

Agreed, but it is part of the show. Nothing to do with greatness. You see, solos are part of the current show - some hate it, some love it... they would probably cancel the show if solos (ok, ok...) were not allowed, right?

What I am trying to say is, of course we are going to see GNR for their music, but also for the show they put... and they want us to see the show with pyro. Simple.

I watched Indiana '91 the other day, and watched the PC finale, and imo it was completely limp on the end. After the take "homeeeeee .... hommmmmmmmmmmeeeeeeeeeeeeeeyeeeeeahhhhhh!" explosion, then confetti starts in 2006 this ending is MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH more exciting as a finale.

I'll bet tonight's show and Friday's show are the best of the tour. I feel a great one tonight.  :yes:

In tampa, we had hockey game next day so floor was cold due to ice underneath.  Same thing in NJ.

Personally I think it is up to the band and managment to do whatever they think it takes to put on the best possible show, but I wouldn't miss the pyro.

I just called and spoke to someone at the DCU Center, and Guns is already there and the show is on :beer:

Judging from the press release, beta's post and the letter from the management + axl , the pyro thingy was not the real issue. They are the side that made the decision that what whoever else claims the reason to be is a guess work. Or he/her must be a psychic.

It was FREEZING in Tampa. Not only was it like 60 degrees outside (cold for Florida), but it was like 40 fucking degrees inside the damn arena. Pyro actually warmed the crowd up, thank god.


I'm there to see Guns N' Roses. But it doesn't mean that after 20 years, the band can't do something a little different and make the show a little more memorable.

Just talked to a friend at the show.  9:30 pm and Baz just finished his set.  She said that everything except the balconies were completely full.  Not a bad sign, methinks.

When has it ever been 30 minutes??  Axl will go on when he's ready as usual.  People will just have to wait and be pissed off then.

Yeah lets lose the casual fan instead of trying to make it up to them, by going on at a decent time... The casual fan will blame Axl for the other night (hell so many around here do!!), If he goes on late they'll say fuck him!!

I'm sure a lot of people won't be happy about it, but that's just the way Axl is.  We do need those casual fans and I'm sure we've lost a lot already because Axl starts so late.  But he's been that way forever and it's not going to change now.  But when he comes out, he gives the fans 100% all the time and makes it worth the money.

Papa Roach just went on about 9:45 so it still should be awile until GNR hit the stage.

That kind of sucks.  I really doubt too many people at all would make that trip after the canceled show.  If it were the weekend, it would be a different story.  But most people aren't going to drive over 2 hours away on a Wednesday night for a concert, unless of course they are like us.
