Title: Question to moderators.
Post by: Kov on November 06, 2006, 02:00:12 PM
Please, explain in a polite and calm way that why do you have to delete a thread about a fuckin' OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE in a certain subject? I personally think that this is unfair. Answer here, or PM me and delete the thread.

Freedom of speech forever.  :peace:

Because they have to.

Title: Re: Question to moderators.
Post by: Kov on November 06, 2006, 02:01:34 PM
And why do they have to?

What forces them to?

It's just irrational. It's not leaked shit, it's just like you couldn't say that it's been said that the album comes out this year.

That statement is even more baseless, it's nothing in writing, it's just something that we've heard last year, and the year before that also. A rumour, so to say. And this is a press release. I don't see the point.

I agree with kov. ?We have the right to know. Is it because that thing is not true anymore and that the album will be delayed again?

Because its a lot more fun to talk about why we can't talk about it.

They have to because managment is trying to limit the backlash of another possible fuckup. Somethings not right, that's the core of these events.

They can't force them.

How could they force them? They are just the moderators of a fansite. No payment, or anything.

They probably can't, as a contract has been signed. That's why they're taking these desperate steps.

Here's my guess:

jarmo has told the mods to kill all threads about "the subject".

jarmo has been gone, travelling, since the 4th.

Til they can contact jarmo and get his "ruling" (since he is the one with direct contacts to gnr management), all threads on "the subject" are verboten...and maybe even afterwards depending on what management/jarmo decide.

It seems pretty pathetic that a fan focused forum that used to be a great meeting point for guns fans to share info about their favourite band has become such a big kiss arse to GNR.

I really thought Axl had stopped this ridiculous press control back in the 90's, obviously not. What a shame for a once great site to be reduced to this. HTGTH was THE resource for guns fans, now it is heavily censored so that it is no longer a fansite, more an official site.

Really guys, grow a pair, stop staring up axl's arse & just try & remember why the site was created & what it has become now.

And I wonder why no mod has answered so far?

Well....it IS jarmo's site so I can see why they would defer to him on this one, all things considered.

As for no mod answer, no idea. ?Maybe it's because they don't really have one and don't want to say "we're waiting on more info". ?Or maybe it's because it's the same one that appears in the sticky thread. ?But you KNOW they're watching....because the threads now been moved to Administrator feedback.

what's next? threads getting deleted if someone says he doesn't like a song?

i mean i understand deleting posts about links to leaks.. but this summer we still could discuss about the leaks.. now there are subjects we can't discuss?

I think there is something that they don't want us to know because it could hurt the current tour.  Sad but perhaps maybe true.

I do too, but the sad fact is that every GN'R board except for this one pretty much suck. Sure, you can discuss certain things other places, but it gets tiring when there's like 10 posts a day, or just a bunch of teenagers attacking each other. That's why it hurts so much to see this board losing some of it's previous glory. I have no other place to go.

Well first of all, whoever wants to leave they're free to do it. Bye.

Second, I don't do things because I have to.

The management has asked us to remove all things related to the specific ad. They didn't order us. They can't order us.

We do it because they asked us nicely. Consider it a favour to the band we've loved and I personally owe too much too them.

Unfortunately for those who don't like it it's a rule of the forum, at least until now, and you have to follow it.

As I said in the past, noone's forcing you to stay. You know the rules, feel free to do whatever you want.

However, I'll contact someone and see if we have any more news on the subject...

I have nothing against "rules" or the mods Christos.  But am just wondering if this subject is to be taboo because of the record being delayed again.  That's all.  I can't speak for the others but that is my concern.

My guess is that management still have an 'anything could happen' attitude with regards to officially announcing any release or what have you. This is Guns N' Roses, and I do believe that this album has been slated to be released at several times over the past few years but, for whatever reasons, of course in the end it never was.

Fans would go absolutely nuts if they knew that management, the band or whoever condoned the release of any official article or such that more than hinted at a release this year and then it never happened. I think that it has more to do with limiting our certainty of an imminent release, in effect restraining any potential let dow.....

... Though of course the official line is that it will be released this year, nothing is ever certain and whatever is set to happen has not yet begun, or at least has not supposed to.

And to that end I would hazzard a guess that, as of the moment, the album is still set to be released this year...

Yes, that makes alot of sense. I totally understand that managment wants to refrain from confirming anything until everything is packed and ready. I though find it strange that they choose to dement every statement that surfaces. Don't they understand that this also creates fury among the fans? I just think the best way to keep everything in limbo is to not do anything. Just let the fans believe what they want. This way they could say they didn't say one thing or the other. It's no wonder that many fans interpet their actions as the record not coming out.

With regards to this site, Jarmo chooses to respect with wishes of Guns N' Roses. It is his choice, and it is the way he done things for the last ten years.

It's a shame that when one person chooses to do something good that others choose to criticise it.

So lets get this straight:

1. The 'ad' was released too early by the said motorcyle company, then

2. The press release was not run past GNR first?

Weird!

At what point? Or are GNR management going to continue to string people along for the rest of the year and potentially set up fans for a major dissapointment?

Are you suggesting that it is certain that we will get some kind of announcement that it is not coming out? (if it's not)

Why not say nothing and let 2007 roll around?

They couldn't say nothing at this stage if it isn't going to come out, there have been too many statements confirming an 06 release, if it wasn't to come out in 06 there would have to be some sort of press release saying it's been delayed or whatever, saying nothing and letting 07 roll around would cause a lot of bad feeling from the fans imo.

LOL give me a break. Yeah, what he is doing is "good" for management but is it for the good of the people that visit this site?  Obviously it is not when so many fans are left feeling frustrated. This site is turning into a PR piece for management. It's no longer a place  where we can freely express our opinions on the band. We are now only able to discuss topics and make comments that are deemed appropriate by management. Of course you wouldn't see anything wrong with that, though, because you are the ultimate schill for management.  ::)

Can't even begin to imagine how fustrating this stuff must be for someone who wants to keep very up to date regarding what's happening  in GNR camp.

Actual news not getting posted, discussion of certain rumors/VALID INFORMATION disallowed...No idea at all why this is done. What is certain though is..it's a very annoying and fucked up situation towards a typical GNR fan visiting HTGTH.Wanting to know about and talk about the band he is into. And finds out he can't. IMHO there's something very basic a bit   fucked up in there.
Just can't understand how anyone can view this as right course of action. Not posting news is one thing...but disallowing entire topics that fans would be dying to talk about..That's just..uhh far out.

Since general consensus seems to be you guys know what you are talking about I might make a cut out and keep copy of that copy to carry around!

I really think the shows they played so far were great.. the leaked songs are strong material...
I'd love it to be this year.

The only thing I'm not sure about so far is the cover of sailing they did at the show I made it too... Sir Rodney of Stewart of all people.. but I'll let that go!
